But I did perform and audition a ton in college so this stuff is interesting to me to watch. But not when it's a pretend audition that doesn't show what these struggling artists actually go through. You're right - the title didn't promise anything, but from many of the other comments as well as mine, it shows many people were mislead as well... This is more like what happens during a callback. During the first round of an audition if you're a non equity auditioning for an equity call, you have to get there HOURS before the audition begins for the chance of being seen. Let's say the audition is at 10, and the building opens at 7. You're there by 5:45 at the LATEST. You bring a cut of a song (typically 16 bars) not from the show that fits the type of music (era, genre, overall "feel," of the character, etc). You hope that there's time before the auditions are done (and before you have to leave for your classes, job, what ever personal business you have) for non-equity to be seen. Sometimes there's none. Usually they let you know by taking the "unofficial list" (if they've even chosen to honor it) off the table. Equities can come in later if they choose, and they still get seen before you (even though you've been there since 5 AM). You get in the room, smile, say hi, sing what you have (hope the pianist is nice), and then get out. The end.
