I just googled it, and Reddit says that simsie is right, and that the higher the number the better it is for the Eco house, but I feel the the way that they laid it out is super confusing! Bc the way I read it is as power *consume* ption rating, so I saw it as the higher the number, the more power it’s *consuming* buuuut she had it right, so it all worked out 😅 I just feel like they definitely could’ve clarified more on which it is, bc it does make a pretty big difference.

I LOVE THAT YOU USED SO MUCH WHITE! I have a bachelor’s in environmental science (in a month lol) and environmentalism is my special interest. A popular pretty new theory in eco-innovation and bio geochemistry is that white surfaces reflect sunlight (think of the difference between wearing white or black in sunlight). Its being tested right now if large white surfaces helps to reduce global warming from sunlight. Not sure if one white house would help tho haha. But if I were to build an eco house irl I’d probably make as much as possible white!

Wasn't there some hypothesis about cooling down melted polar areas by covering the brown soil with white cloth? It sounded both plausible, insane and pretty awesome.
@SomeoneBeginingWithI7 ай бұрын
In a lot of southern europe where the summers are very hot, the traditional architecture is to have thick stone walls painted white. The white helps to reflect solar gain, and the thick stone has a high thermal capacity so when it has cooled down it takes a lot of energy to warm it up. The result is that the indoors of the traditional houses is surprisingly cool without modern air conditioning.

In the same way white helps with keeping buildings cooler, black helps with heating! Architecture around the world tends to reflect this with popular roofing or siding options being darker in regions that are colder year-round and lighter in regions that are hotter year-round. iirc places that get both cold and hot tend to go for lighter colors more since you can always put more clothes on if cold is your issue, but you can only take so many off to help cool down :P Pretty neat how relevant it still is despite advances in insulation technology ^^

Hedges are eco friendly because alot of insects as an example fireflies live there and some birds would choose to build their home there if the hedge is tight enough. You obviously need flowers and other stuff for a great garden.

a bit off topic, but i think sometimes you should try something different from the floor plan you usually do. for example, everytime you can fit 2+ bedrooms you turn them into a kids/teen bedroom, but you could also make them music rooms, art studios, candle makers spaces, little cinemas, laundry room etc... i think sometimes making a house with these different, but useful spaces could be really cool!!!

The build is amazing! But I would like to mention the fact that, if I recall correctly, the higher the power consumption is, the more power it consumes a.k.a the more bills you'll get, so if you want a fully ecological house the ideal thing is to replace electrical lights with candles! And also, the more plants you have, the better! So actually making an entire hedge fence using the square hedge plant instead of the actual fence itself, even though it would be expensive, it gives you a crazy amount of green eco footprint!
@FirebladesSong7 ай бұрын
She mentions that in the video; the higher the number the better the RATING. It's not well explained, but in the case of power/water consumption, higher number there is good.

I really liked the idea of a nursery upstairs, and even though you make a really good point about growth in that home, I've heard that it's not uncommon in some European countries to just move after a few years to a more suitable home. That makes room for a new family or whoever to move into the smaller home. In terms of growth you could eventually expand it for gameplay and it wont be tiny anymore, but by then ur sims could have big skills etc and be fully self sufficient Edit to add: regarding the hedges, yes it can be eco friendly! Utilising plant species on your land/home actually can reduce indoor temperature, and plants are essential for us if we like to breathe oxygen. It probably wouldn't be a neat and pretty hedge, and it would likely need to grow along with a myriad of other plants, since permaculture is a far more sustainable practice in "greening" your space. Lawns are often frowned upon, and the concrete would likely not be chosen for an eco home since it's hard to find carbon neutral/positive concrete production. Probably stones or reclaimed wood would be the vibe.

One thing that never really made sense to me was for the wall shower to be high water consumption. If you are using one of those.... it's because you are in a tiny home. If you are in a tiny home then you are trying to cut bills... generally. Also if you are using a wall shower you probably aren't going to want to stay in the shower a long time which by definition would be a low consumption!

Something else I've done for extra power or water production is putting extra roofs on and hiding them by flattening them. So for example, you could put a grass roof on this house and make it flat with no edges sticking out and it would give water production.
