Church was my first thought as a pretty common building. Like I am not religious but I still see all the churches in my city and they do look nice in terms of the old architecture and the big stained glass windows.

Actually this kit is quite good forbuilding european things, cause there are a lot of buildings, palaces, houses, shops ecc with crests, columns and "gargoyles" on the exterior and old fancy windows and doors

exactly! there's a whole street in my small hometown in central europe where shops have reliefs, gargoyles, fancy spandrels and all kinds of ornaments and it's always been so normal to see those everywhere. i wish simsie would experiment more with that

I live in Cambridge England and everything is covered in grotesques, gargoyles, saints, massive wooden doors and the colleges that are the best part of a thousand years old. Loads of Tudor buildings and medieval stone buildings. It's nice to have more historical styles to play into. Yesterday alone I must have walked past Newton's apple tree three times and that's by a building that's been there since the 1300s and I'd love to make the entryway to that on Sims!

A lot of the choices you called "excessive" are actually things I've seen around on some decrepit old houses (but not "castle" old - early 20th century) around Eastern Europe, which I found kinda funny 😂 I do see weirdly ornamental stone railings and windows, meanwhile, a huge backyard with a pool and vibrant paneling is what I would definitely call excessive.

I feel that way a lot with with simsie sometimes. I'm from a mediteranean country, where tiles with busy patterns and clashing colours are everywhere, so simsie's tendency to avoid using multiple patterns or different tiles in the same room always makes me laugh. It's such a common thing here, to the point where it feels weird to see a more traditional house where the floor and wall tiles actually match. Given the warmer weather, we also have a lot of tile in living rooms and dinning rooms, so her never doing that, or even trying it out and replacing it later becuase it's too much or too busy always gets a chuckle out of me. I feel like she'd pass out if she saw a typical house from my country lmao.

i feel like the sims also makes things look weird that wouldnt normally irl. like kids bedrooms almost never have sheets that match the wall colour, and furniture isnt usually all in the same style, but in the sims its just off somehow. where i live we have tile everywhere in 19th century houses but thats not something that looks good in game (especially with the tile choices we have)

I thought that, like a gatehouse or even a church conversion. I saw one quite near me in Northumberland recently where there was like one wall and a bit of a church left standing, and instead of demolishing they built up a house around it to match the original church wall. So every time she says it's "too much" or "too fancy", I just think of conversions 😂 it's really not as fancy as she thinks!

The thing is, in America, we've never used stone excessively. We had trees in abundance so we used wood for our dwellings. It looks out of place in an environment that is based on the US. But in HOB a stone cottage will look just fine. The windows and doors would be ok sparingly and strategically used.

One of my favourite house types in the UK and Europe is the gate house of large estates/ castles/ chateaux. They usually feature the architectural elements of the main house but are small cottages and so the design elements are kind of too large for the house they're on. They're so so cute though! like big eyes on a kitten they have massive church-like windows on a lil bebe cottage 😍 ❤

I know many old listed buildings around the UK which are houses that have the fancy windows like in the castle kit. My grandma's kitchen had literally no windows in her kitchen irl. But she had a add on mudroom filled with windows so that gave the kitchen extra light so the no windows in the kitchen is totally realistic

It's actually quite good as long as you're in the mindset of the type of homes that use 'castle' construction.

I find your comments and your exasperation through this build really funny. I know it's not probably normal for most people but for me growing up we had a house that that was down the block from us and we called it the castle house because it straight up looked like a baby castle and they even had a armor suited figure that sat out in front of their yard and held up different flags for them throughout the year. A really nice old couple lived there and they would make us cookies and give us lemonade during the summers and we'd go over and see them. And it was really fun cuz the inside of their house was just like the way that you built this one. It was really extravagant and it was kind of scary having a bunch of neighborhood kids walking around a super fancy house cuz we were all too scared to touch anything😂😂

They're usually older than Victorian but there are plenty of houses like this around the country. We still have medieval buildings standing in places, so it could be quite an old cottage converted from another building. People convert churches, gatehouses and parsonage houses quite a lot. I find it so funny that she's freaking out about it being "excessive" when it's actually pretty common 😂

This is giving me church manse vibes, or university chancellor's house. I think this kit has many applications. One just has to do a little research into different architectural styles and building use types. Churches, museums, university buildings and English/European Manor houses can all use elements from this pack. The stone wallpaper and trims are fantastic, and I've been wanting a foundation like this forever, for my large community buildings, like my Willow Creek Library, and my Forgotten Hollow mansions. This house turned out really cute. Thank you for sharing.

Actually, fun fact about the divider, during the time of the colonization, they used to paint in those, at least in Spain's colonies (probably in other places too but I wouldn't know). They used the three panels to tell some sort of story. They are very very fancy. You can pretend that's what they have: a fancy old painted divider

I was watching the video on the Fairy Castle last night, and I think that some of the outdoor furniture from Outdoor Retreat and Jungle Adventure would work with this as well. You can put some of the Jungle Temple traps as danger spots in a dungeon. At this point the only places I would use the curved walls are on the fence, using halfwalls and the wallpaper from this kit. Speaking of roofs, I think some of the roofs from the Werewolves pack will work there. A good worn roof would work with this. I had almost forgotten, there is an apartment complex where I live that is castle-themed. I think that would be a good build to do. LOL, I don't know about the Naked Gnome, but I definitely would put both the Gnome riding the chicken and the Gnome riding the flamingo.

This is giving Mordimer Goth's mother. A loving grandmother with space for her grandkids to visit, and when she moved out of the main mansion to let the next generation live there she moved into her (low key favorite) cottage/summer house. Both houses have been in the family for generations. And although she is still deeply rooted in her rich livelihood, she isn't to snooty to go dig in the dirt and garden at her old age.

This reminds me of gatehouses in the UK. They were basically designed to be a small version of a similar style as the main mansion/castle they stood at the gate of. So you have small cottages with fancy windows, trim, even turrets etc.

In my head this a small chapel that was converted into a house, in which case if it had a steeple, that would have been removed. But of course they kept the lovely stone leaded windows and the detailed pillar. It might have even been a vicarage built next to a church. Provincial European villages also have absolutely beautiful small dwellings that were built by stonemasons for their families, and have stood for hundreds of years. I feel there could be modern touches throughout, such as a french door looking into the back garden. That would be an upgrade for more light and the view. They also might have or eventually would figure out an upstairs lavatory.

I think it might mesh well with the realm of magic pack for fantasy styled builds or the wedding pack/vampire pack (maybe a couple other packs) for old romantic styles, at least a little better than some others. Not super contemporary but is close enough to another niche pack to fill out the limited build stuff options a little more. More of that thing where themed pack each have a hyper specific vibe that doesn't match other packs and there's not enough build stuff in any one pack to make it worthwhile.

Honestly, even if it’s fancy that’d work really well in Windemburg, cause I feel like a lot of European countrysides have these types of stones in their building rather than the Get together stuff. It’s not that that pack isn’t well-made, some German homes and mansions are like that, but I feel like this type of stone is the one you’d find more easily in Austria/Tirolo, while the other one is the most “historical fancy”, it’s giving me those vibes.

I really like this house, so cute. I really like the Castle Kit. They have such pretty stuff in it. I love Castles and love the wallpaper for this kit along with the stairs and stuff. You should definitely use this to redecorate Vlad's house. Or build like a Castle using the Romantic garden stuff as part of the decor like build a garden and have that wishing well and use those statues too. The Wallpaper in the Castle kit works for anything in the game, just harder to get that other stuff to work, the trim and that.

Would you consider doing an old gothic chapel/cathedral with this new kit? It doesn't have to be related to any specific religion. It could be a converted home, or go more literal and recreate a chapel and graveyard like in the sims 3. Might be a nice update for your legacy grave collection.
