I tried buying some legit Switch games on AliExpress...

Since I've been collecting games for several years I've been no stranger to waiting, browsing, and checking out multiple sites for the right deal on games I'm looking for. I also love importing games, especially if I can get a better deal! With modern consoles not having to deal with region lockouts on physical titles, the process of playing an import is painless these days. With so many domestic and international businesses available specializing in importing video games, the last place I would expect to not only find legitimate games, but to get an even better deal would be AliExpress. However, seeing is believing, and I couldn't believe the prices until I saw them. Depending on which games you're interested in along with which console they might be on, AliExpress could be a great destination for your import needs!

Nintendo have always been hugely anti consumer. From banning stores in the US from selling Sega consoles in the 80s if they wanted to sell Nintendo. To price fixing in Europe in the late 90s early 2000s. I don't understand why people seem constantly surprised by Nintendo.

It is amazing how we don't have to deal with region locked games anymore. I don't know if I would buy games from alixpress. I brought games from play asia through. I'm just one just to wait if it is released in my region. It just eliminates jumping through extra hoops.

The death of region locking was probably my favorite standardization from last generation, a bit of a shame it hasn't been talked about all too much.

Gamers HQ had a used copy of Super Mario RPG so I grabbed it up. I think it is actually better than the SNES version. And I did pay more used then you paid for the import.

I don't mind games from other regions so long as they match the TV frequency (as all modern games do). Also keep in mind censorship varies by region, so if you mind how the game is presented, you may want to research that as well I wouldn't mind repros either so long as they declared repros AND are reasonably priced

I remember back in 2022 buying Super Mario 3D All Stars almost HALF the price, it's insane, it's weird how these games are legit when again, usually the games are knock off of games of older console haha, just recently picked up Pikmin 1+2 and Skyward Sword HD for half the price too

Yeah mostly the stuff I get form aliexpress has been fine. I bought some xbox 360 dvd lasers and only half of them worked. They all got refunded which was nice. First time I've had to use their return service.

I think I'd only ever heard anyone covering Temu, another China based market place; albeit with their own host of "problems" regarding trust worthiness. Prior to Mig Switch. I was/am intrigued. Did order a copy of Metroid Dread because I was curious, just waiting for it at the moment. Hate to kick myself if it came just in time for Nintendo to announce Nintendo Selects. The dates estimated were ironically falling under the two assumed dates for the upcoming direct.

Its incredibly rare, but there have been a few isolated cases of people receiving Chinese imports. (Not Hong Kong) Of this happens at least on stock switches, its unplayable

The sellers I've bought from seem to run on a system where they have the game game but from different regions, so they'll just send you whatever they might have on hand. That's why one of the games was Japanese and the other is from Hong Kong.

Dont know how US import works but did you had to pay any duty for these games? I am sure my country I would have to pay Duty fees in order to import these games.

I personally did not have to pay duty for these games, just the asking price and sales tax. Your mileage may vary from country to country, even sale to sale.

I bought resident evil 6 for the ps3. It's a Chinese version and resident evil operation racoon city. And silent hill down pour. At the time these wearnt relised in my country. I got them 5 weeks before in the shops here. Saved €20 each on each game.

After the MIG SWITCH, ive been really scared of buying switch games on Ali. They were always way cheaper than buying locally and never had any issues, so it's a damn shame Nintendo chose to ban people based on cart id

It may not be happening now, but if the switch 2 is backwards compatible the market is gonna flood with "new" switch 1 games for sure. You buy a cart for 10 bucks, package it and sell it for 35 and it's all good

I purchased 6 Switch games from Aliexpress about 2 weeks ago for about $150 (which included shipping/tax). So far I have received 4 of them (Metroid Dread, Paper Mario Origami King, Princess Peach Showtime and Detective Pikachu). No issues with any of them. They are all legit copies. I ended up getting HK copies of the 4 I got. They all work in my US Switch in English just fine. Very happy with it! The other 2 I have coming that I haven't received are Super Mario RPG and Grand Theft Auto Trilogy (it was stupidly cheap, so I thought I'd give it a try....).

@@MrMario2011 GTA ended up being better than I expected for $20....just not worth the full $60 price. GTA ended up being a EU cart, but an all English case with no rating, but a small sticker on the back corner with "Prowell Asia Holdings Limited" with a HK address. Mario RPG was a HK cart/case. Everything works great though and is legit.
