Really happy you tried this. But please understand -- CrossFit does not cause injuries. Poor movement -- in ANY SETTING -- causes injuries.
@WtbgoldBlogspot5 жыл бұрын
Only major problem on that note is that the requirements to be a certified crossfit trainer are too lenient; you can't learn proper movement for every excercise from 2 half-day seminars where only 1/3rd of the time spent is focused on lifts. Good trainers who care have to look outside of crossfit training for that knowledge and get specialised instruction. If they just go by the book, then it's safe to say the lack of training from crossfit headquarters encourages injuries.
@rebnae5 жыл бұрын
@@WtbgoldBlogspot Have you attended or participated in any of CrossFit's certifications? Not saying they are perfect, but I've attended a few and they are quite impressive. Most are also in-person and require attendance as well as a passing score -- they also reiterate that the Level-1 is the first step of many to become a competent and professional coach, and is certainly not the be-all, end-all. Many of the people who own CrossFit gyms or make it a career take their continuing education very seriously, and regularly seek out additional opportunities outside of CrossFit HQ's offerings to really refine their skills. I've also seen a lot of garbage trainers come from NASM, NSCA, ACE, ACSM, etc., who do not make any additional effort to further their education or knowledge, and continue to teach poor movement consistently. There are tons of amazing CrossFit coaches & CrossFit gyms out there. Are they all amazing? No, of course not, just like there are many wonderful personal trainers, and then there are many who took whatever online exam with their friend and copied their answers. But to make a massive blanket statement of "CrossFit causes injuries" is ignorant, untrue, and perpetuating false information.
@WtbgoldBlogspot5 жыл бұрын
@@rebnae I think we're saying the same thing or close to it. It's silly to say that Crossfit workouts inherently cause injuries. Crossfit workouts are just combinations of different exercises, usually with short rest. Good trainers like yourself seek training outside of crossfit lvl 1. I think we even agree that the level 1 baseline isn't good enough to properly learn every movement and then teach it. Your point seems to be that poor movement causes injuries, and that Crossfit is good because they encourage further training beyond level 1. My point is that poor movement causes injuries, and because crossfit doesn't - require - further training, they aren't requiring proper movement. That's what I meant by lack of training from HQ ecourages injuries. They should raise the bar in how they teach people to raise bars. Overall though, remarkably civil disagreement considering it's the internet. So thanks for that. :)

So excited to have watched this video!! I’ve been doing CrossFit for 7 months and I will love to do it for a very long time! Honestly I look up to so many of the CrossFit athletes I know when people think about it they are like that does not seem fun at all. My sister is a bigger girl and she’s 22 she recently started CrossFit 1 week ago and she LOVES it! Before we would tell her come on try it out for one day and she would say I don’t like weights I hate it but now she’s says that you definitely just have to give it a try and not only that but our coach is so helpful and super nice he understands when you are injured and also if you have never worked out before. I love this sport just because I have been watching it for hours and I can always get stronger not only physically but also mentally. Man the mental strength it takes to get the last 10 reps even when you’re almost dying😂 I love it! I hope to see more CrossFit videos from you if you enjoyed it of course lol ❤️ also I remember how Ricky Gerard got 3rd and we would here how amazing he was then come to find out he cheated like man that was so upsetting especially because Brent and Patrick are best friends and they sadly couldn’t share that moment on the podium☹️ also what the girl was saying about how everyone cheers you on even if your last like yesssss those moments are awesome because everyone is super encouraging! By the way the assault bike and wall balls are the two things that I absolutely hate😂 I kid you not at 10 calories I’m dying lol

Good on you for trying! The only issue I've ever had with CrossFit is with how much it tries to achieve. It's inevitably never capable of performing a lot of the movements at a proficiency that that movement demands (Olymipic weightlifters spend their lives dedicated to 1 or so movements), i.e. snatch, squat, or a clean and press. I'm totally ok with doing any of these movements individualy, as specificity is important, however, my issue normally with CrossFit is the programming. Chucking a 90% deadlift in the middle of an AMRAP or complex is screaming for an injury. I'd just suggest pulling it back a bit. You don't always have to be in tremendous pain, or barley able to walk. A lot of CrossFit people I know don't feel like they're working hard enough, or call me weak, if I'm not able to breath afterwards. I'm all for pushing myself, but not 6 days a week in a box. I've not met someone who's done CrossFit who does not have an injury at this point. That being said, I'm sure they're some people who do it more functionally.
@Nuenna905 жыл бұрын
YES Jazmine! Great job! You did really well! Loved this video :) Also: Yes, there is a risk of injury when doing crossfit but it is actually the same or lower than in powerlifting, running, track and field, rugby and weightlifting. This was found by Klimek et. al. in 2018 who compared all the data and research done on crossfit and injuries previously in a review article. It is a misconception that there is a higher risk of injury and I think that people think that because it's explosive, fast and involves a lot of equiptment and that we have an impression of the body being way more fragile than it actually is!

I started CrossFit 4 months ago. Before I did some weightlifting in front of my TV with 3 or 5 kg dumbbells like one or 2 times a week but I was not consistent and never considered myself as a sportive person. I really love CrossFit because you do more in a group than alone. It’s a different workout each time and it’s a succession of exercises like shown in the video thus it goes fast and you don’t find it annoying. I also like the fact that it’s really for everyone : the same workout will be done with variations for beginners like me. After 4 months I see some improvements already. My legs are more toned and my burpees suck less 😂 Still a long way to go but I’m 50 yo and you have people of 70-80 yo doing CrossFit.

It’s about hard work and dedication. Those people didn’t just walk in on day one and did those things. It take time and work. Everyone was a beginner.

Great video Jazmine, you are so brave to try crossfit!!! Maybe you should try pilates next, with one of those weird machines that look like torture device, it seems super easy but you actually need a whole lot of core strength

It took me a couple of weeks to get the wrist-flexibility move right. You did it correctly on the very first try. Ummmm. Impressive.
