Depop has a “buyer protection” so if the seller doesn’t ship in the first week you get an automatic refund!! you can also check the sellers reviews to make sure they’re not scamming u!! I love Depop so much more than Poshmark because it feels more modern to shop on:)

I use PayPal basically any time I buy anything online bc they have good buyer protection most of the time. Plus lots of sellers on depop pressure buyers to pay with etransfer outside of the app to save the fees, which can be a lil sketchy sometimes.

As a reseller ive learned to NEVER trust items for their labeled size. I currently have a labeled size 4 skirt and a size 12 skirt. BOTH have the same waist measurement...that fits a size 8. Always ask for measurements on bottoms, especially pants.

Oh Carrie sweetheart, what have you done 😂 As a person who’s been hooked on Depop for 2 years now (and I look at it daily) lemme tell ya, your wallet will never be happy w u again 😂😂😂 But I did wanna give u some tips! These go to anyone who wants to use depop! Feel free to read it :) - A lot of people dislike Depop bc it doesn’t really show you stuff like online shops do, but the thing is Depop has TONS of hidden gems, the key is searching for specific things (ie. using the search bar to look for a specific type of item, ex: orange dungarees or peasant top or black and white vintage purse...). - Along that same line of thought the more specific the better! I think the more filters you add to a search the more likely you are to find either somth amazing or exactly what you’re looking for. (Ex: the brand filter can help you search for an item made by brands you already know you like, the price range lets you search under a certain limit or search “by price brackets” almost, the categories and obvs the size!! Idk why but apparently a lot of people don’t use the size filter? Wild.) - What you like is what it will suggest in the home>explore section, mainly styles, brands and sizes (that it has noticed you like the most) - ALWAYS look for measurements!! I will not purchase somth if I don’t know for a FACT that it’s my measurements or a bit more (this one comes w a general suggestion for shopping anywhere but esp thrifting: know. your. measurements ya’ll. If they’re not there just ask the seller :) this is classic depop culture tbh so don’t worry abt it being strange or anything like that. - Ask questions, be direct about what you need to know, be clear, negotiate but be fair, take your time considering if you really wanna purchase the item (I suggest you do this at length before asking questions and after you’ve asked questions too!!) - part of depop culture is that people press follow mainly so that they can bring your attention to their shop! (unless you’re a seller, in which case it might be bc you sell stuff but still! Check out their stuff if you can) Follower count doesn’t really mean much unlike in instagram and such. -oh and finally don’t accept paying outside of Depop under any circumstances bc by paying through Depop you are able to file claims w PayPal if any problems arise!! They might try this bc the seller has to pay a small percentage to Depop but it could also be a scam and they try to run away w your money! Hope these are useful!

Thank you. This was very helpful. I sell on Depop; Carrie actually bought the skirt from my shop: @gscht. I very much understand how hard it is to know if something will fit and fit how you would like. Tag size and a seller's guess on size means absolutely nothing. Pictures are also deceptively not helpful. I try and model all of the clothes that I can get on, because I think it at least gives a little more information than hanging, and also potential buyers like it. But the pictures are not even a good guide for me to see what fits and it is my body. In a picture things can look like they fit, are too big are too small when it is not the case. I'll be tricked when I see a picture and think I should keep that dress, it looks really good. And then I remember it's tight on my shoulders or the opposite. I always put the measurements that I think are most relevant on the listings, but I know that people may need more. Questions let me know what people want to know, so I can add it. In fact, before Carrie bought the skirt someone had asked me how far the waist stretches, so I added that to the listing and am trying to do it on my other listings.

I'm pretty sure Depop will give you a refund if the seller doesn't ship your item. Also you can pay through PayPal which double protects you from being scammed. I'm a big Depop shopper and I also sell on there; I've never had a problem receiving an item and I personally try and get all my sold items shipped next day. I've probably made 20-30 purchases on their since March and every item got to me within like ten days of purchase. Just check reviews before buying an item if you have any concerns. I've never purchased from ThredUp or Poshmark because the selection on those sites is rarely what I'm looking for. I want funky, vintage items, not something I could have found at the mall in the last three years.

You aren’t guaranteed a refund; I’ve had three different disputes because I was never even shipped my item, and only 1 of them refunded me. It sucks. Lauren P I’m not sure if you’ve heard of curtsy, but they are my favorite to use! You can find all of your favorite brands, and things are normally sold for a reasonable price considering that it’s second hand. If you are in love with an item but not in love with its price, you can send an offer to the seller (though they may not accept). Most sellers ship out in 1-2 days and you are guaranteed a full refund if the seller never ships out their item, or if the item doesn’t come as it was described. I’ve been selling and buying on curtsy since December of last year I believe and have never been happier!

I love Depop! I find so many more unique pieces there compared to Poshmark, and it's so easy to use. As a 16/18 I've had a lot of success on there. My best advice is to always ask the seller to take flat measurements of the garment (especially pit to pit for tops!) and compare them against your own measurements. That way, no matter what size it says it is, you can have a higher chance of an actually good fit. Great video!! Glad you got so many good pieces!

In my experience with new (to you 😉) clothing, they sometimes stretch out as you wear them. Especially if you're using a dryer, that can temporarily shrink things down 🤔 I thrifed a pair of hot pink 100% silk trousers (I knooooowwww) and didn't wear them for ages because they were a bit tight (also because lock down 😒) but one day I just decided it was gonna happen and wore them and they stretched out nicely 😂 now they're perf 👍

This is true. Carrie bought the skirt from my depop shop ( @gscht), and when she mentioned that it just came out of the dryer, I was thinking: "Was it supposed to go in the dryer?". I can't remember for sure on that skirt. I always follow the tag washing instructions and if there aren't any instructions and based on the fabric it is not dry clean, I won't put it in the dryer just to be safe.

Some of those things you got were from the late 80s-early 90s. There’s about a 2 size difference with 2020 sizing. So for that long skirt, it was a 16W/18 misses, which is a 14 in 2020 sizes.
