I'd disagree with the 2nd Sentence. Of course, every DAW can be capable of doing somewhat similar things, but each DAW has their own strengths and weaknesses. If one could be using another DAW (x) which suits one's needs then they would be wasting time on another DAW (y) which gives sub-par features in a field that is just better in the other DAW (x). Eg. I switched from S1 to Bitwig because Sound Design is such an important part of my music, and BW helps to make things work faster for me.. Ofc I could probably design some sounds in S1 but some patches would take 6-7 times the amount of work and time that I would invest in making the same patch in BW. Some patches I just wouldn't be able to make, because S1 doesn't have the features to do so. Conclusion: It really does matter what DAW you use, and exploration is vital to be able to be a better producer.

Mate, I've been on ABleton and FL, and there's something about Ableton that makes its sound way more immersive than FL studio. I know that there's loades of peeps who've been saying all daws sound the same but it's just not true. I use the same plugins and vsts, and ableton sounds fuller. SO yeh, your sound will change in Ableton.
@yajrobot Жыл бұрын
@@hjkhhjkh3635 Next time you gonna use FL, don't forget to turn off your limiter on master. There is a fair amount of distortion when using automation in Ableton compared to clean automations in FL according to one research I found recently, but tbh I still don't think you get fuller sound because of it. You probably don't make music using VST's only so Ableton's audio processing might be just better, you have Glue Compressor, EQ has it's quite pleasant algorithms, also keep in mind how audio warping is different - that would be the biggest detail I identify when production is made in Ableton.

I switched from Logic to Ableton and it was the best decision! The workflow is insane. Once you know the shortcuts, producing gets fast and easy.

I feel like saying "Once you know the shortcuts..." goes for every god damn DAW.

Banger video as always! Come to the dark side! Make the switch to fl. I switched from logic a few years back and don’t regret it!

Can you make a video on which DAW looks the best? I kept reaching out to FL saying that they need a UI change. I even reached out to NI to ask if they could make afully functional DAW, they're OPEN TO IT :D just haven't had time to run by it. I'm a music producer, and UX/UI Designer. Love your videos Ocean, you one of the best, humble.

I tried Ableton and FL, but finally ended up with Presonus Studio one.

I started out with presonus and then went to FL and then a logic haha. You find presonus has as much as FL and the others? I was very inexperienced when I had it
@jrnerdmann20982 жыл бұрын
@@enjohVEVO well I’d say that Studio One is very intuitive. Lots of drag and drop. Ableton works kind of like NI Maschine. I guess that’s where NI got it from. And although I start the majority of projects in Maschine, I do the details and mixing in SO. Generally FL and SO are very similar. And I almost stuck with it. But I just prefer the look and feel of Presonus. Since I own a Mac and Win computer Logic was not an option. I did play around with Garage Band though and I’d probably like Logic too.

In FLS just drag your sample or plugin to the playlist track and it automatically connects pattern, playlist track and audio channel.

People may say "Ableton looks bland" but honestly it's just another DAW that has a lot of possibilities. Personally my favorite daw.

Not to mention you can easily change its appearance. There's like 15 different skins, all totally customizable.

To start a track in the arrange view of Ableton, imho, misses the point. Start in session view, you can create a collage of sounds and then play them in to the arrange…..
