I love old media like this bc if some random person didn’t decide to record this on their vhs player one day it would be lost forever

The cut back between the static of the vhs and the natural sound in your background is somewhat so comforting

I loved this video, I am 65 and from England, so I remember buying Barbaras line of makeup from the body shop, and using her techniques for makeup application. She was the first celebrity MUA to create her own line and was a massive influence on many of my generation. I still love makeup to this day and feel that despite my creepy skin, wonkey eyebrows and all I can still look half decent when I go out of the house in the morning! 😂

Watching this makes it very clear how influenced modern day makeup kept 80s techniques lol … or maybe makeup from 2016 specifically.

What a fun video! I was born in 1981 and I vividly remember my 3rd grade teacher being pretty young, probably in her late 20’s and she rocked the bright blue eyeshadow every SINGLE day. She clearly had never heard of Barbara Daly.

I was a teenager in the 80’s and believe me nobody wore natural makeup. My favorite eyeshadow palette was bright navy blue and magenta, and the brighter the blush the better- none of the “no makeup selfies”🤥(cough cough, look closely and you’ll see makeup) we have now

I was like, gurl wdym, youre not a millennial! But then youre like “when i was -15 years old” looool yasss the tv shock Also, the constant swapping between vhs static sound to your video made me realize you added static, but a very low pitched backgroundy static, rather than the high pitched humming of the vhs’. Yass i love saying strawbries (somehow the w is extra pronounced in british) and bluebries and raspbries. Gurly wdymmmm the heavy brows were iconic for the 80s, sure the top models probably had naturally heavy brows, but ur average gal tryna recreate it totally did them up for a glam look. I feel like the 80s is when people started REALLY doing brows again actually, because it was oh so vital to the vibes. As far as i could tell, that foundation is your shade. Also, i love your recreating looks videos, you never miss. Like slayyy.

Haha I know what u mean about her not being around in the 80s, but what’s funny is that, as someone the same age as Madison, she is like only a year or two off from the cut off to technically be a millennial lol

As teen in the 80's.. Eyeshadow: Pink/green combo Fucsia/blue Purple/green Gray/bright blue 4 colors combo in the eyes.. it felt fresh and summer.. Natural eyebrows, just brushed, and filled where needed with a hard sharp pencil the same color as eyebrow hairs.. there was a dark gray instead of black... Blush It came in a set of 3 or 4 colors.. from darkest to lightest, and all of them were used at once, shaping rhe cheek.. Lipstick.. From light colors to black Fucsia, hot pink, bright pink, glittery, shiny, hot red, dark red.. ugly black lipliner.. There was contouring, but subtle.. different color foundations.. All texture felt velvety for matte look or pearly for shiny look.. Foundation was not so good.. And the hair.. of course.. that is another story.

Some people are gonna freak when they hear this (for sanitary reasons) but my mom had blue mascara that sometimes I would put on my eyes, no mascara sandwich just solid blue with probably some blue eyeshadow (also my mom's) with my blue eyes. Barbara Daily would be horrified.
