The Cycle: Frontier was awesome. It was a casual extraction shooter, where you can have fun way before the 1000 hours learning curve of most extraction shooters...

I miss that game SO MUCH! It was the first game since a long time that kept me exited. I made over a thousand hours in a couple of months. It was so perfect, just a little balancing and something against the cheaters.

Mentioning The cycle frontier brought back memories but not good ones haha. It was ok. It had some cool aspects to it but the balancing with weapons and armor was rough and there were beginner missions that took forever for me to complete because no lifers were camping the mission spots on the highest tier armor and just destroying me every time or theyd push when they saw my pod drop in and kill me during my "exiting pod" animation. The extracts were a whole other issue with people literally having tiktoks and youtubes dedicated to them dropping people at extract and taking their loot and their extract

I still miss The Cycle.. It was the alternative to tarky, where I never had any problems with. Sadly the playerbase died due to rampant cheating at the beginning. It was fixed later and pretty much had a very low amount of encounters of cheaters when you played.

Cycle was SO GOOD! I played the last couple of seasons and it was my go to for a good time. It was super optimized even for my dogcrap laptop, it was competitive, it was the PERFECT balance of PvP and PvE, I have no idea how they weren’t making money off it. Definitely bringing it to console would have boosted the numbers.

Maybe you should try Hell is Others. It is a top down extraction shooter that was originally PVPVE only but later they added a whole PVE gamemode. I played it for a bit when it launched and had a lot of fun.

You should try out sulfur. Its kind of a pve single player extraction shooter, although it labels itself as a rouglike its very extraction shooter esque. Its in bet rn but theres still quite a bit of content there. You should check it out!

Lost Light is free on Steam. Very different from most extraction shooters though. Many believe its P2W but as someone who has played since its alpha/beta, I do not think it is. I think its too easy to be honest, not hard to get rich and run high level gear and many systems in the game make it much more forgiving than others of the genre.

Honestly it is pretty forgiving. It wasn’t hard to get loot or run a fully kitted loadout

My main game ATM is ABO. Games in the genre I am REALLY excited for are, beautiful light and project black budget. Now to be fair PBB we basically know NOTHING about other than the basics. Its made by the PUBG team/studio... so I feel theres a decent chance they make a good extraction shooter. But who knows it may just be shit.

I'm confused on why so many of these games are in early development, closed alpha, etc. Not one of these games has actually released and been of high quality IMHO. This genre must be exceptionally hard to make correctly. There's still only 2 that's ever been released that are decent, Tarkov and Hunt Showdown. I wouldn't say either of those games are amazing however. Still so much untapped potential in extraction shooters.

BRO DUST514 WAS FIRE! I was ripping that one 24/7 on my PS3 and also played EVE at the time on PC. This was a BIG D game combo at the time. Great shooter and I remember I was playing it with mouse super copetitevely with some top dudes. Fun times! I'll try Vanguard.

Honestly, the "only having 1 gun" in Vanguard, is worrying to me. Because that was my problem with Dust way way back when. Where there were multiple "assault rifles", but they were the same exact gun with just some minor stat changes. I really hope they learned that they need a wide range of weapons that differ from eachother.

imo level zero is too hard to gain something great out of it especially player can play as IMMORTAL monster like l4d. l4d have clear path to progress and trick in each chapter to go quickly but this game you have to deal with multiple treat like environment other player and worse of all monster control by player.

Arena Breakout mobile is damn good competitive gameplay too. I would definitely not skip giving that a try. I play ranked solo v squads and it’s a great game without the weird Chinese”ish” feel of Lost Light. Lost light is exactly what gives mobile games a bad rap. You also won’t wait more than a minute or so for a match.
