Looking for a budget-friendly gaming laptop? In this video, we put the HP Chromebook 11A-NB0013DX to the test. We test out its gaming performance and see how it compares to expensive graphics cards from Nvidia and AMD. We play various games, including Minecraft Java Edition, Counter Strike Source, and more. In addition, we also review the HP Chromebook's performance for non-gaming tasks, such as schoolwork and office documents. Plus, we provide recommendations for other budget-friendly laptops, such as the Acer Chromebook Spin 514. Check out this video for a comprehensive review of the HP Chromebook 11A-NB0013DX and find out if it's worth the price.
Is a cheap google chromebook a budget gaming alternative to an expensive graphics card from Nvidia or AMD? Can you play games on a cheap HP chromebook model HP 11A-NB0013DX ?
I bought this chrome laptop as a pre black friday 2021 deal. I spent cyber week testing the gaming performance just in time for the holiday shopping season. It cost under $100, but now it costs closer to $300.
On the plus side, the 2023 black Friday deals will have very similar laptops on sale for very similar prices. This includes walmart's $89 AMD A4 chromebook deal and multiple chromebook deals featuring the Intel celeron N4020, which should perform slightly better.
I test Chrome OS andoid games and PC Games. Including minecraft java edition in linux, and the classic retro fps counter strike source using steam. Then I talk about if the chromebook is good for school, internet, and typing office documents.

17:45 - using the built in webcam, like for Zoom or whatever
19:45 - Best Buy black friday deals and laptop pricing
20:41 - should you buy the 11A-NB0013DX at full price?
20:50 - Acer chromebook spin 514 Alternative recommendation
Specs of the cheapest HP 11A-NB0013DX :
1366 x 768 resolution LED LCD display
4GB shared system memory
32GB eMMC SSD storage
Celeron N3350 CPU (From 2016)
2 core processor at 1.1GHz with 2.4Ghz 'burst'
Integrated Intel HD Graphics 500
In case you couldn't tell by the affordable price, there's no high tech Nvidia RTX 4090 in here, bruh. You would never say that this junk rat is one of the best gaming laptops of 2023. But even at a $100 price, it is still not even close to the best gaming value in the world. Put simply, this chomebook will not play Grand Theft Auto 6, no matter how janky the leaked footage looks.

Emulation was probably the best way to go. Playing games not supported by without touchscreen won't work.

I agree, emulation had a much better chance of working. Unfortunately I no longer have the HP Chromebook to test it out.

Maybe emulating games will work on this chromebook( nes / snes /N64 ) ? It will have a hard time with some other console emulating , you should try it if you have the time . By the way good content .

minecraft singleplayer worlds always spin up an internal server for the game to connect to. it probably died and the game just assumed that since the connection was severed that it was kicked off of an actual server

That's interesting. I don't think I've experienced that kind of crash before. But, I think I've played maybe 6 total hours of minecraft since Microsoft bought it. I put hundreds of hours in way back during the era of beta/early release, though.

That section where you were showing the xbox controllers in the background, please tell me you edited that, because if it is an edit, its a great one, but if the "wasabi" controller is the exact same thing as the standard white controller, thats a sad, sad thing. Also really liked it, man

That's just a screen grab of Google's Stadia controllers. I didn't edit it, but I think wasabi is supposed to be a slight green... Or something. Also, thanks!

My school gave us the Lenovo 80YS rockin a Intel Celeron N3060, 4 gigs of RAM (3.2 avg used IDLING!) I always avoid using that PoS unless absolutely necessary. Comes with all the standard school bloatware, LanSchool and iBoss.

Hey man do you think you can do more game tests on Chromebook maybe a better processor

That is something I plan on doing when I get a Chromebook that better fits my needs. It will most likely based on an AMD APU, because the Steam Deck is helping that platform get better linux driver support.

The Intel Celeron n4000 runs Minecraft really good on the Chromebook but older models of the Intel Celeron I haven't tested it yet but I've now got the idea that Minecraft won't work on the Dell 3180 now due to this video dang it

You can give it a try and find out. I was convinced this chromebook should have worked better than it did. I think there may have been some driver issue with chrome or linux that I couldn't work out. Linux drivers should be better now because of work that's gone into the Steam Deck.

Don't bots put more stress on the computer in CS? I wonder if it would run smoother in multi-player 🤔

That's a good point. I will have to find a way to record CPU load in this ChromeOS/Linux setup. Most of my usual tools are for PC.

also, the reason java ran poorly is because it's, well, java. its an extremely slow and decrepit language. if you've ever used the bedrock edition of minecraft (which is what the education version is based on) on desktop you can actually edit the settings file to force it to render hundreds of chunks on most computers, while still having a very stable frame rate.

I know that java is pretty limited on the amount of system resources it can use, so it only uses a fraction of a good gaming computer. But minecraft java edition usually runs pretty well since it was made to work within those limitations. I haven't really played any of the other versions of minecraft out there. I'm not sure why the java version ran so poorly for me, though. I've seen other people with (better/newer) celeron processors get 20-30 fps on chromebook using slightly higher settings. I don't yet know the linux equivalents to the software I normally use to find hardware bottlenecks.
