Two things I've learned from 60+ years of writing. I graduated from writing in pencil as a kid to a typewriter and finally a computer. 1. Format your screen a soft pastel color and quit staring into a bright white screen all day 3:50 and your eyes will never burn again. Baby blue is my jam, others mileage may vary. 2. Every writer needs a comfortable chair, mesh computer chairs look flimsy but I recommend them. I wrote 22 hours one day and the only thing that hurt was my back.

Yeah, I bought certain glasses to help with the lighting off screens. My girlfriend pushed me to get a pair and it helps alot more with my eyes now and I’ll be upgrading to a new chair in the future!

@@zakskiver Hang onto to that woman, Zak, she really does love you. Unfortunately everybody can't afford to just run out and drop three or four hundred bones on a chair when gas and groceries come first. Too, what works for me doesn't mean it will work for anyone else, I'm old enough to know I'm not the world's litmus test, but if a recommendation of mine just happens to make someone else be more comfortable, well, I've helped someone. And isn't helping others what we're supposed to do? It's like all those overpaid actors dispensing sage advice to the uneducated masses (because acting makes you a genius, right) on who to vote for. Truth be told, my comfortable chair enables me to write ponderously long comments . . . lol. I thank you yet again for a great channel that I watch instantly every time I'm notified: new Zak video!!!

@@DAGDRUM53 yes, she definitely does love me. I plan to have her on my KZbin channel soon. I’m going to read her favorite series and discuss it with her lol. I feel that, that’s why I tend to not listen to others about who to vote for or anything because most of these people get paid to say it🤣. I appreciate the support! Thank you!🖤

Excellent video! I just finished my first draft (the one I call the ugly draft) of my book, and I’m glad to see someone at a similar step in the process as me. While in different genres, it’s great to see how we both struggle similarly.

I feel you with the boring parts. That, I think is best to overlook until the revision step. Just getting yourself to finish is enough I’d say when starting.

I totally agree. I say “boring” parts because most readers will think it is boring, but that builds the world and makes you like the character more. That’s how I feel about it. Yeah, it’s fun to see fellow authors working at the same pace with books. It’s a lot of fun!
