Those who stick with Unity will regret their decision in a year or two. Yes, it's tough and takes several months before you get the hang of it. Even when you're not going indie, Godot will become a sought after job skill since game studios will move from Unity to Godot with new projects.

Out of what I've seen, Godot and Unity are pretty similar
@paul1979uk200010 ай бұрын
Yeah, if I was a developer, I wouldn't want it hanging over me that Unity could pull these tricks at any moment, especially if I was deep into a project that I've invested a lot of time into it. Same could be said for any closed game engine, you just don't know whether they'll pull any of these dirty tricks at some point in the future and personally, I wouldn't want to invest so much time and effort into learning an engine only for them to screw me over. If I was a developer and was using Unity, say I was already deep in a project, I would probably continue on that project with the same engine, unless I could port it over in a reasonable time frame, but any future projects or if I was just getting into game development, it would be an open source engine like Godot where I would start and work within the limits of what the engine can do, knowing overtime it's going to continue to get better.

Depends on the project, but since Godot 4, 3D is much better, but it's not as good as Unity or Unreal, but I suspect for a lot of indie developers, it's likely good enough and is continuing to get better.

I'd switch to godot but it hasn't been working for me... then again unity isn't either. It's frustrating because I have a really cool idea for a game but it's only running at 15 fps and it's not even done so it's going to become laggier.
@szymongruca306811 ай бұрын
You can try Bevy. It have it's difficulties, but it's using Rust and it is common choice for voxel games. It also give you simple connection to graphic engine so you can try to optimaze it really well.
@PerplexedAnimation11 ай бұрын
@@szymongruca3068 I'm trying to make it for consoles so it won't work. But I appreciate it! Edit: I think because it's open source you could probably figure out how to get it to export code to get it on other consoles but the problem is I have no clue how to do that and actually register button inputs from consoles.
