Maangchi, everyone's Korean KZbin mom, has an "easy Kimchi" recipe and I make it all the time. Your kitchen is bigger than mine, so if I can do it, you can! Your own life, your body, mind and emotional health is all important first and foremost. I ask that you pleas take care of you first and then give what you can to others, never give out more than you can. When you need to take time to heal yourself and take care of your needs first do so, and you will have more energy going forward to do what you want for your own life. Never let anyone tell you how to live your life you choose that for yourself, its okay to need to care for you first and its always okay to fail all the time, because failure is always a learning opportunity to fail better, because then you know what you don't want in life and learn from passed decisions to get where you want to go in the long run always stand up for yourself with your needs. I wish you luck in your life journey and please remember your needs and want come first for yourself , just keep trying your best to being your best self one day at a time, stay safe and take care and remember people that love you would only want you to find your own happiness in life and share that happiness with everyone you love, but always put your needs first for self care and get some rest hydration and good food.

You're probably almost done with school by now and I hope you're feeling better since you posted. As a parent I understand. Sometimes you need to take a break. But you're almost done so don't give up. Look deep inside and find that extra energy to push through and give it your best. That's all anyone should ask of you. No one's perfect and sometimes we falter here and there but just don't give up. ❤️

vent incoming: my group uni project was due today, and I wanted to submit that yesterday so we could be finished with it, but one girl hadn't done the one thing that we asked her to do, so we were immensely behind. we met up today before i had a mandatory lecture so we could submit it, and the girl responsible for submitting it. SUBMITTED AN OLD VERSION. and blamed ME FOR IT. it was horribly stressful, and though we managed to fix it, i was late for my next lecture. When i finally got to eat lunch at 3pm, i found the kitchen in a STATE! i have two housemates and we alternate cooking, so it was my turn tonight, but they had both left their washing to pile up on the side for TWO DAYS! I told them i wasn't going to cook until it was all cleaned up, and thankfully they got it done. My boyfriend who i haven't seen in months texted me to say he can't visit me Friday like we planned because of unexpeced work deadlines (the struggles of being students :( ) which sucked. And then, a nail in the coffin, i burnt myself pretty badly on my tray of enchiladas, so I couldn't even eat it properly! today has genueinly been out to kill me, and i still have 5 uni exams left to go! hoo. that was quite the vent. apologies, ellbat! i love your videos and i recommended you to my friend recently. i love when you partner with skillshare too, I get to put on my 'totally not the same person with a moustache' moustache ;). thanks for keeping us entertained!

In college, I worked in the dining hall and was friends with one of the cooks who was from Korea. He'd make bibimbap occasionally and I had a massive craving to have it again. I had forgotten how absolutely mind blowingly delicious it is and I started trying out other recipes. I eat really clean by American standards, but I really love how balanced Korean dishes are and how easy it is to incorporate a wide variety of vegetables into each meal.

Also making kimchi doesn't have to be super difficult! I feel like a lot of videos make it out to be a very arduous process, but it doesn't have to be. Try 'mak' kimchi, where you cut up the napa cabbage leaves beforehand. For the paste, the main things you need are just the chilli pepper flakes and rice flour - all the other ingredients you can p much freestyle :)

Hi I like your video. I'm second gen Korean and everytime I go to my grandma's house she's always making something. Korean cooking is all about the sides and most times they're already made ahead of time. One because doing them on the spot is very time consuming especially when your hungry but also we love our fermented foods. Then all you have to do is heat up some rice or your protein and you have food in no time. Idk how my grandma does it. But literally ill sit down for lunch or dinner and 5 mins later I have like 10 dishes in front of me. Like bam! It's insane. But yeah I'm also studying to be a nutritionist. And I can tell you that one of the main reasons why Korean food is so healthy is because of the fermented foods and the amount of veg we eat compared to American or European cuisine. Koreans were typically farmers and did not have money for meat. the fermentation is a way to keep food fresh all winter long and is very good for mitochondria and the microbiome.

You can tones of cooking vids anywhere. 1 idea my grandmother gave me was choose if you are building a meal and the meat compliments it, then the meat only serves as part of the ingredients. How ever the meal you are planning is to support the meat, as in a turkey dinner. How you cook the meat is the starting point of the meal. Every other item is there to support the meal.

I am Korean and it's not hard at all. The basics you need to survive are: Steamed Rice, Crispy Seaweed aka Kimbap, Japchae, Kimchi, Seasoned Beansprouts, Hot Red Bean Paste, Gogi/Deji Gogi *spicy pork*, and oxe bone soup with green onion slices and a piece of Kalbi short rib and a dash of salt, salt bae style. Oh and if you want a treat, mix everything but the soup into one bowl for a thing called bibimpap! So mashita (delicious) as well a kimbap the veggie roll with no seafood but gogi instead and sweet yellow radish kimchi. UwU

With beef that's off stroke it with your pointer finger and feel it between your finger and thumb ( like this 👌) and if it's very sticky OR very slimy it's not good... Also give it a wiff if it makes you gag it's very off. Yours truely a chef ❤️

I was hoping it would be the North Korean daily requirement but alas! Also, the "English cucumber" that you held up looks just like a regular slicing cucumber here in the US (and are usually peeled before eating). Here, an English cucumber is much longer and thinner, and is usually wrapped in plastic. Their skin can be left on. Excellent video, it makes me want to start cooking Korean food, which has always intimidated me.

Cute kitten! Incidentally, a trick I've found for marinating meat is to put the meat and the marinade in a freezer bag and smush it around. Then fridge it for a bit. You can then tear open and empty the freezer bag into the pan you're using, the freezer bag can then be thrown out, saving on washing up but unfortunately not being very green

I usually cook 2-3 meals a day. But I enjoy cooking and really appreciate a good home cooked meal. I find it easier if you can find dump style recipes for most of them to avoid the cooking fatigue. Like 1 pan roast or sautee, slow cooker dump and go etc. Cuts back on dishes and time spent prepping. Also using the dishwasher if its too much. The tough part is finding healthy ones. But you can even cut time on prep with precut produce or frozen.

for the Japche, if you want more spice - gojugaru (the chili powder that goes into the paste you have) or chili oil into the sauce. it helps with some kick

A cool video could be you trying meal pre for a week. I usually make a giant pot of chilly on the weekend (can make it veggie by using extra beans instead of meat), freeze it in small containers and then the only thing you have to do is take it out to defrost the night before and make rice before eating it. Same thing with curry, stews, etc... it's so quick and a pretty full and nutritios meal. (This way you have a meal cooked instead of a sandwich hahah)

We signed up to HelloFresh when we moved out a couple of months ago so that we could build up a repertoire of recipes and oh my goodness, it's like eating restaurant level food from around the world 5 days a week - super flavourful and nom and stuff that I wouldn't have even thought to attempt before. And now we have a bunch of recipes that we can start making for ourselves and eventually stop using HelloFresh (which is fairly pricey without a discount code)

I have never had Korean food, but I am definitely intrigued by it now. Also, cooking/meal prep fatigue is 100% a thing. I usually only cook a few days a week and then eat left overs because I cooking 3x a day like you did here would make me miserable. Also, the way your kitten was sleeping during the ad portion of the video made my morning - he's adorable

I watch your channel because...you are so you. It is really quite a treat to see you take on the world in your inimitable style. I have not tried Korean food, but you have made me want to. About the amount of food you and that cutie face Jean consumed in a day...I don't think I could do the same, it just seems a lot to me. However, I am in my 70's and just don't need that much food. I'm happy for you though. Everything looked scrumptious. Keep doing you, I look forward to it.
