ive gotten countless advice from countless popular vtubers and its always different like "be yourself people like originality" or "you have to have a sexy or cute model or nobody will like you" or even "copy what everyone else is doing because they have experience and know how to grow" nothing has worked for me so far and I don't know what I'm doing wrong
@arcticbeak7 ай бұрын
Without having tried streaming yet, I think Disguised Toast and Ludwig gave solid advice on this matter. Not as VTubers of course, but as content creators in general. It should transfer over pretty good.
@KitteryConnor7 ай бұрын
You're not doing anything wrong! Actually, I think you're doing exactly what you need to. If you don't already have a fanbase, aren't corporate or don't get an insane boost from posting on twitter, I've found that growth is slow and can feel like an uphill battle. Streaming on twitch is hard on newer streamers because it favors higher viewers per stream and youtube's discoverability for streams is pretty much non-existent. So you are actually doing great for your stuff being so new! Because of these problems, a lot of smaller vtubers have highlights from their stream, completely original videos or do a lot of shorts to get people onto their platform because the discoverability is significantly higher for this sort of content. Saruei and Rin Penrose have a lot of it from what I can see. Rin has a lot of original shorts that are pretty funny and Saruei has some of my favorite animations. Some of her videos are as simple as basically a voiced over comic. Like it could be anything and if you don't have anything in particular you want to do, you can do what I do. All my videos are centered around me learning a specific skill or exposing myself to specific fears. Right now I'm learning how to actually be comfortable on camera without a chat to help me and how to edit properly. But yeah. All in all. You don't have to do any of this! These are just my thoughts and even if you're JUST streaming, I'm sure you'll gain a following if you just keep at it!

Just have fun with it, vtubing is about freedom to do whatever you want. Some advice works for some and some advice doesn't.
@pantsupandemic7 ай бұрын
Went through and watched your videos. Take it with a grain of salt but your avatar and personality are on point in my opinion. The only thing that I disliked was the volume. I feel like if you can increase your voice volume a bit then you'd be set to just cruise until you get a following going. Don't be afraid to get a little loud; you are by far the most important part of your stream, please make sure that viewers can experience that and really get a feel for who you are.
@vairulee24457 ай бұрын
Maybe try making shorts or highlights (like 8 minutes of compilations)of your streams? I didnt see any and those when I went on your channel, and those are the main ways I find new vtubers because theyre less of a commitment for newcomers like me

This is actually fantastic advice, and it's something that I myself have been doing as a content creator, because after all, there's a million vtubers, but only one of me.

In my mind the best way to act is more how to not act. Specifically, don't antagonize your audience in any way, shape or form no matter how much you disagree with members. There are exceptions like doing the right thing or filtering bad members. This is something that I've learned by watching people succeed and fail. Also through being directly antagonized by somebody.

One of the best advice I've heard from a business mentor is that, if you're a person that's has high standards for yourself (which isn't a bad thing at all), then your audience is likely to be the same. Therefore, it'll take them time to find you. So don't be impatient about it.

broad advice in general here: Go into it knowing your not gonna be everyone's oshi, set RESONABLE goals for yourself, always assume your next stream/video might be your last as you never know when you'll have to stop, and finally NEVER and I mean NEVER expect to make it big

Really like the part about not surrounding yourself with negativity / becoming the negativity that you see! You can acknowledge negative things without having them consume your thoughts. If they do consume your thoughts, there's just less room for interesting and constructive thoughts that attract people and drive life-improving behaviors.

I honestly found this really helpful, I feel like there are a few things I can change about me socializing, and how I put myself out online. Even though I am new to streaming and content creation, I think I got a good online personality (I have only been doing this for a month, but this is my second try at streaming), so I don't really worry about it too much, but I may have to re-examine some of my friendships since a lot of my personality comes from hanging around them. Also one thing i have heard is that, "as a vtuber/ pngtuber, you should have your own lore/ backstory"... Even though i like the idea of including lore with my model, it's more so something equal to Dnd lore you give to your character. For anyone who hasn't played Dnd, character lore is used to fuel a story, to understand why characters make the decisions they make, there overall personality and how they view things. But from what i see from the vtubing community is that the lore has to be known from day 1, it can't be subtle or create an ongoing story over time... I made a presentation on my debut stream, only cause i thought i had to, but really, i wanted to introduce a story and lore more gradually.

Everybody does their content and treats it differently at the end of the day. I am really enjoying your recent videos, including this one. You made really good points about thinking about why you watch certain things you want and enjoy, and what kind of people you interact with or what kind of stuff you watch on a daily basis. Most importantly, I think the one who is honest with their content and audience and enjoys making things will go a long way compared to all others who are just in for the money and talk negatively about others.

I'm not here for the Booba, I'm here for the advice and good times. Most Vtubers get their content from live streaming which is not bad, but you spend the time to make short videos that I can sit down to watch whenever I have the time to do that. So Thank you. It's the reason you are the only Vtuber I have hit the bell for.

Guess this is why I get more viewers when I’m not talking- I like content I can run in the background and just listen to while doing other things! (When I’m not up to talk on stream (I have autism and I’m an introvert, so it tires me to stream weirdly) I’ll just play Minecraft and run some music in the background, and let that be my stream.)

Some of the best advice i got about content creation was: you dont have to produce what you consume. I'll watch 7 hour deep analysis videos on Death Stranding, but could never do the same and thats perfectly valid.

I was turned off by a lot of vtuber advice. First bit of advice was on what my model should look like. I was advised to lean into "anime girl"(My og was a pink skinned whit haired cat unicorn. very original). I was unhappy with it from day one because it wasn't really what I wanted, but I was assured that it was the only thing I should do. I haven't talked to the person who gave me that advice because they disappeared one day. THE NEXT THING, was that I should have a live 2d model and that I would do best doing ASMR streams. I can't stand ASMR at all, especially wet whispering types. Just no. Anyway, after much trial and error, I've kind of just landed on where I'm at. I love my cyberpunk monstergirl unicorn thing, I am far more engaged in my content and I just have so much fun. I would definitely look into content teacher channels too, because they'll give a personal insights on how to market oneself. You otherwise only really need to just do the things that you're interested in and excited about, especially in the beginning!

I think this plays into your advice on "Yoink and Twist" but while saving up money for a pngtuber and some basic assets I'm doing a lot of research on Vtubing, and it had puzzled me for a while now how "standard" Just Chatting / Gameplay VTubers didn't at all seem to line up with advice given to non-VTuber streamers. But it really comes down to a cult of personality and a desire for friendship/socialization. Looking at the VTubers I personally watch a lot of it's names like Limealicious, Sinder, Mari Yu- you get my point, and most of them don't really have a target audience *or* a niche. I don't know if that makes me feel better or worse but there are male VTubers that are similar so HeavenlyFather gives me hope at least xD

Would be interesting to hear more about how to be 'likeable', like I agree that a lot of it has to do with social skills, but there's I think a lot more to it than just "don't be brutally criticizing people" and "don't watch toxic content"... Creative writing classes slowly taught me to give feedback better, I was initially brutal because the typos made me astounded that some people had gotten through high school... But its first drafts, those typos get hammered out, and its more important to give feedback on key things like character development, story pacing, bizarre things happening, etc... Also making sure you give positive feedback too since again you don't really want to crush the writer... So anyway, feel like those classes really helped me get WAY better at giving feedback... Some people though deserve to be crushed, like I couldn't believe a person in my CREATIVE writing class ripped paragraphs word for word from a wikipedia page, that's more egregious than the person who typos every few words tbh... But generally, you don't want to crush people unless they're doing something legitimately objectionable as plagiarism in which case fair game... When it comes to leaving content creators who are toxic though, I can't... I'm too in deep in the political debate rabbit hole... Maybe I can watch it less, idk, but the idea of stopping altogether seems very radical... But yeah, I'm sure there's also a lot more to being 'likeable', like having improv skills would probably be good for commentary...

I remember creating videos in 2016 (on different account, I was subscribed on that one back then) and I basically made the same as my favourite youtubers at that time but got nothing (43 subscribers) and thanks to this video I got more confidence in the problems back there. People watched that back there because of a persons skill and charisma. I had skill, I even could match that guguy but I had nearly 0 charisma also because of my voice it was too childish back then (by obvious reasons) And now I'm here, a grown man who still wish to bring joy to others and himself and trying to do it in a different language (the path has just begun)

Mari. I have interviewed for an upcoming Vtuber Company: Outer Heaven Virtual. I was actually thinking of joining Pixel Link, when they had auditions but, I forgot about it. So, this is my second chance. As a male it will be more difficult but, I think I can stand out doing nightly streams for a 2-3 hours for three nights a week. I do watch Pixel Link’s Chiaki, Silvervale from VShojo, Chibidoki, and a few dozen others like Lost Pause Noble and Nux Otaku. I find they usually are chaotic or very bubbly for the women.

Back in the good ol’ days couple friends and I thought about being KZbinrs we started off in Minecraft because that’s when all of the KZbin Gamers started to play. Then ended up playing Call of Duty trying to do Ninja Defuses and Hiding Tactics because that’s what KZbinrs used to do back in 2012. Never went well because people started to figure it out what we’re doing and they figured it out QUICK. Because that’s what other people who used to watch KYR Sp33dy, Vanossgaming, Lui Calibre, H2O Delirious, Deluxe4, and The Hidden Masters would try to do 😂

Heyo Mari! I'll admit I haven't been able to support you such as lurking on streams, active on discord, or replying on Twitter. However, you're one of the only few people I still look up to when it comes to content. If you ever feel bad or sad or anything negative, just know that you're a smart and insightful woman. You have the capacity to apply what you learn when it matters most, and that takes a certain kind of wisdom in today's world. To aspiring Vtubers, I'd like to tell you that I may not know or understand the struggle since I'm but an outsider looking in, but know this: when the days are dark for some people, sometimes your 5 second scuff or clumsiness in certain things makes them happy. I'll regurgitate the same wisdom people repeat but with more context: "Just be you, the "you" you want to see tomorrow." Thanks again, Mari. Your content means more to others more than you realize!

I mean....vtubing can be sort of an act. I notice seeing vtubers in real life drop the act, vs when there live they act like the vtubers we know. But forcing ourselves to act on a level above us can put a toll. I know I've felt that pressure before.
