All these sponsored videos and them seeming disingenuous is becoming a bit straining. It started for me with the Zenless Zone Zero video that totally danced around it being a gacha, which is pretty ridiculous information to leave out when you can be truly transparent.

I remember when he reviewed Like a dragon, but conveniently left out that new game plus was locked behind an upgrade, and all the other mess around it. I feel like “contractually obligated to be honest” is just something he says. A lot of the time he still uses “cool unique, brand new” and other keywords to make the audience get a better impression. Money talks, can’t blame the man. Sure, you’re allowed to be honest and stuff, but you also wanna be someone these companies wanna work with

If you pay attention to what he says in videos, you can see where he is vague in even non-paid videos when he wants to hide info. He isnt nearly as point blank honest as you'd think. A lot of his stuff is very, very specifically worded to manipulate his audience into not knowing/understanding/ignoring issues. Unless he absolutely hates a game, he's usually hiding shit about it.

I tried this game and the game feels very nice as a battelroyale game with different weapon types to be used and learn the heavy and light attacks while the movement are impactfuld during combat player vs. player. I havent played in teams so i cant say for sure how that is but since all character or heros have their own distinct two abilities & some heroes have healing or support abilities so it may benefit team plays... again i can suggest to give it a shot... I gotta admit this game have potential on phones as well..

1. i will admit my bias here, naraka is my favorite game by far. 2. appreciate you covering the game, the skill ceiling like the skybox is steep, ive played since launch and there is always new tech or combos to learn and perfect. 3. It's weird that people will click on a video and hate on it bc its sponsored and you have a positive review, luke got bills to pay and he can also enjoy the game that he experienced. the game is by no means perfect, it has things to critique and hate on for sure, but its not necessarily something you would notice in the first few hours of playing. i will say his opponents were 99% bots quite literally, but the game does that to ease you into mechanics. its a game that will reward the practice you put into it and high level play compared to someone just dipping their toes is night and day. I would check out a highlight reel from players like: treygo, lighthypernova, c7sper, longnotes, pakku, chefofthedead, pastdue for an example of how saucy you can get with skill expression. And if you got the time to learn the game the community is happy to have you and teach you. Hope to see you in game, Luke!

Even if there was a clause in the contract that he signed (I highly doubt it) stating he had to be 'honest' (whatever that means in a legal sense) it wouldn't be enforceable. Most likely he means to say he is not under any type of NDA and can say whatever he wishes about the game. He is also free not to get any more sponsorships from whatever company if they don't like what he says. This is the case with mos reviewers, especially if the game has already launched. Any reviewers that pulls their punches for cash that is found out can kiss their credibility goodbye, and that's what reviewers need most. I like Luke, but its a silly comment. A better question is, have you ever heard him talk bad about a sponsored game? He may not take sponsorships if he doesn't think the game is quality. After all, you'd have a bad reputation if you took someones money to talk about new features in their game and then bashed it. Again, Luke is one of my favorite reviewers and I think he is a man of integrity.

other's have said Luke never says anything bad about sponsored content. But why would he? Think about it. If it was a normal Sponsor like Dollar Shave Club. If you took their sponsorship and then said, you know these razors really suck, I have to be honest. They wouldn't give you another deal. No one one expect that of a content creator, nor should they expect it here. That's not what kind of video it is. Luke straight up tells you it''s sponsored content. That's lets you know. The man is entitled to make a living. He has never been dishonest or misleading.

He's a game critic who says he's going to be critical of the game that sponsored him and then says only positive things. That is the definition of a conflict of interest that he is abusing. If he were sponsored by dollar shave club he wouldn't be expected to be critical of it, since he's not a dollar shave club critic, he's a video game critic. If he were a dollar shave club critic then yes, he would be expected to be critical of dollar shave club even if they sponsored him. It's literally his job

I understand what you're saying but how would he ever get repeat business in those cases where he did speak negative about a game? I guess its no different then any review really, if they don't send you codes, or allow previews or access to devs, they lose access to your audience. That's where Luke's power lies, in the number of subscribers and clicks his content receives. So can he leverage his audience to receive sponsorships even if he's been negative in the past?

This game is dead and trash, I can't even rank properly without getting chased by Chinese players and them teaming up with other enemy players. Not only that they don't fight each other and kill any other team that's not Chinese. Aslo the ranking system is also trash, I'm in gold and I get queued up against asura rank players... They need to server lock because they're ping is so high that I can't even hit them.

TBF, I like a lot of games but I don't make a lot of videos about them because I have other stuff in my life that takes time I could have been using to make a video. The same is for creators like Luke. The algorithm of his channel might do better when he is making his usual content and videos like this one don't usually do well. Thus his job is essentially telling him to make his usual content. So it's only when he is paid extra for it (sponsorship) that he can make videos like this one since it offsets anything lost from ad sense. I'm not saying this is the reason, I'm just saying that your reasoning isn't the best even if it is possible the conclusion is correct.

How honest are you realistically going to be when a company pays you to promote their game on multiple occasions. If you need to do it for financial reasons to support your family that's understandable, but also understand that by doing so means that there will be some people who will question your integrity and you may come across as disingenuos or dishonest. Perhaps it would be best to avoid any further backlash by addressing it with your audience and preventing any potential reputational damge to you and your channels going forward.

I encourage anyone taking issue with sponsorships like this to leave a dislike. Please stop taking sponsorships to cover games. I have absolutely zero issue with unrelated sponsors, like a shaving brand or something. But... without money would you be covering this game? If the new content doesn't grab you enough to want to make a video on it anyway, doing it because you're being paid to makes harder to trust the views being expressed.

lets be honest people if you were in the position to get a bag making a sponsored video youd take it. free money is free money. if youre a longtime viewer youre smart enough to know his stance on games and what he likes/doesnt like. if youre not a longtime viewer then the sponsor should be a sign to look out for. if the sponsor sign wasnt enough to make you cautious then you were already going to take the bait regardless of where the information came from. marketing is marketing and people got mouths to feed.

I'll give the tldr to everyone, I'm a naraka coach with over 500 hours of coaching. The game's fun, definitely better with your friends and all but the consistent issue currently is the bots, if you're on the lower ranks or if you wanna queue quickly, it's mostly just bots running towards you and that's a shame.

sounds like FPS lover that hates actual skill based melee game. Naraka is the only up to date good melee combat game having the same situation similar to GetAmped in the past. People hate it because they get killed every single time in the game due to being too new player unfriendly.

@@mcbill7352 What do you mean by live service bs when the game is literally an online pvp game. But i do admit that the battle royale format sucks in a way especially being unable to find any players for 5 - 10 minutes into the game. They had a 1v1 gamemode previously, and the amount of people playing has overwhelmed its battle royale gamemode and making the battle royale obselete due to lack of players, which they decided to limit to only certain time can be played. Unfortunately, it got removed because no one wants to play it anymore because you had to wait until like 8pm just to play the gamemode for 4 hours (Which is dumb).

The beta had servers in South America, the game is really fun, many people pre-ordered it, they launched the game in South America and Oceania without servers, til this day not a single word about that. A game like this with 170+ ping is not a good experience. Then they turned this game in a F2P. No refund, no servers, no nothing.

Love you and I’ve been watching for years, but recently your sponsored videos really seem like I’m being lied to. This game requires kernel level access for anti cheat, and even then you will have full of chinese players who would tank the ms for your game. Still Naraka is one of the best Battle royale I have ever played. If it works for you, go for it.
