I’m guessing this is video made with tongue firmly in cheek, but who knows anymore. Content is King. It’s the information, creativity, and production quality that matter, but packaging is what gets viewers to, well, open the package. I say, make the titles and thumbnails as catchy as you can.

I haven't had as much time or money to put into guitar this past year. I watched a handful of the Non Clickbait videos, but also feel like I was seeing less of my guitar channels being pushed into my feed because the things I gravitated to had been outside of the genre. I only watch 10% of the videos channels I get notifications for lately. Go Full Honest Clickbait. It has never hurt my feelings

Bait-y titles are fine as long as the thumbnail shows the content topic. The WORST clickbait is when it's a title like "This is the last time" and the thumbnail is just a picture of the person looking extra sad, when it's actually just about them buying some new studio lights!

I don't think it will affect anyone who knows you and your channel, but you have to do your best to make it grow too. Your content, like Shane's, is as honest as anything out there, and you only have to read through the comments to see that people really do appreciate that. But you have bills to pay too. 😊

I think it's only clickbait when the title/thumbnail has very little to do with the actual content of the video!! You're right in that we, the viewer, are overwhelmed with stuff to watch and have to use the title/thumbnail to determine if our precious time with worth spending on a video. I like what you said about doing catchy titles that promote your video that aren't just bs viewer grabs! I'm a sub on your channel and as long as the content is good I'll keep watching.

It doesn't matter to me if you have a straightforward or attention-grabbing title, I'm just not watching gear videos anymore for the most part.

I don't even think it's that people are more likely to click on clickbaity titles, at least not that alone. I have not seen your videos on my home screen lately. So it rather seems like the KZbin recommendations algorithm prefers clickbait, which frankly sucks. One would think that with all their pushing of »AI«, they'd have some intelligence in their recommendations. Instead we're getting summaries so that we don't have to watch the videos at all. ;)
@SearchingForTone15 күн бұрын
I’m not sure if I am speaking to the real Landon or AI Landon, but I don’t think it’s the algorithm as much as the people. We all would just love to title a video I played this pedal listen here. If you were to title a TWS video this amp blows my mind I wouldn’t consider that clickbait, unless the amp was a pile of crap. I guess clickbait is subjective. I’ve enjoyed your stuff before and didn’t think it was clickbait. If this is AI Landon stop trying to get my opinion to feed your programming 🤣

Your voice seemed AI generated for some reason.. new mic, or was that ending confirming my suspicion? I’m so confused lol For me personally, I’m just getting tired of gear review videos, although I have a feeling those are the videos that trend well. I think it would be cool to see a creator put a series together where they work on some sort of album and all the ups and downs that come with that. Maybe a series that’s kind of like a day in the life gigging with a band and practicing or something. Some of my favorite guitar content is when creators get together with other musicians, luthiers, creators, etc. because I think it tends to draw out some more genuine moments. A lot of KZbinrs just show us them alone in a room noodling around and it kind of feels isolating
@robinr2215 күн бұрын
I think it's more "I'll watch a video about a known amp if I'm interested in the amp" vs "I don't know which amp this is about so I'll open the video to see". Feels sensible you'd get more of the latter. Long run through? I'm not going to watch a five year old video about the amp that blew your mind five years ago. But I watch fifteen year old KZbin videos that are tagged as specific reviews of certain things.
@gf30114 күн бұрын
I think the term clickbait can be a little unfair, as you said it's totally natural to want your content to pique curiosity. Not many people using a dating site would post the drabbest photo possible, not if they want some attention. If the thumbnail text states the product is either totally awesome or conversely a piece of worthless junk I'm more likely to click and see why that's so That's how humans roll, we need a reason to look further when the range and choices of viewing are seemingly limitless. So a good worthy experiment but you need to get your business back on track, I can't wait to see your next alluring thumbnail. Will I be able to resist...?!

So basically, you are telling your subscribers why you need to pander to nonsubscribers. I get it, probably all of us do. If any of your subscribers complain about click-bait, at least they're engaging and satisfying the algorithm. Try to not take it personally. I dig your full screen content! I almost never click your "shorts" or basically any thumbnail that appears to be optimized for vertical viewing. That's not how I consume KZbin content. My preference probably hurts my favorite content creators a teensy bit, but I feel the need to push back and hold that line against the machine.
