Ele sabe português. Aprendeu desde criança com os pais. Ele só foi se esquecendo pq não havia com quem praticar. Mas foi só passar mais tempo com os pais e falando só em português,ele começou a se lembrar. Ele.mwsmo disse que se ele passar algum tempo no Brasil,com duas semanas ou mais um pouco,ele já volta a falar mais "normalmente". I used to live in Russia and japan so at school id speak russian and english in russia, and in japan i used to speak english or japanese at school. Hey Tulio, this video really resonated with me! 🥺My dad is Brazilian but I also grew up abroad (in Germany, where I still live) so my portuguese is super rusty because I rarely get to use it. 😞I understand like 90% of what's said, but when I try to have deeper conversations, there is just so much vocabulary and grammar that I am missing, and my fluency isn't great. I wanna be closer in touch with my family in Brazil, but I get super frustrated with my language struggles and feeling inadequate. It made me very happy to see you speak only portuguese with your family and I wanna try this next time I visit my dad 😊 Have fun at home and enjoy your week speaking portuguese! ❤

Tulio you have to put your portuguese Knowledge on your daily life, it's hard at the beginning but it'll get more easy with the time. Trust me. i'm from Brazil and i've learned english and now learning korean doing this. It's not perfect but it's working. Remember the most important that it's try. Don't forget to hear a lot people speaking in portuguese (when you cannot be with your family i recommend you to watch videos or podcast in portuguese on youtube). i hope this tips can help you in your journey to understand and speak fluently portuguese with your family. :)

Poxa, esse vídeo pique 2 reais ou um choro misterioso. Super só vim ver o vídeo pq eu acho fofinho ver gringos falndo em português mas pegou muito no coração. Tulio, seu português não tá tão ruim, tbm tenho uns parentes e amigos que nasceram ou foram morar bebês nos EUA que não falam nadia de português. I came here because I really like this kind of video, but ended up crying in the end lol. Speaking a language can be very hard, mainly because sometimes our feelings are so intense and we don´t know the right words to express them. I hope you keep practicing, you´re doing well already! Muito bom! Deu sim pra notar no final do vídeo que o seu português melhorou durante o vídeo. Uma dica, enquanto você esta em Duke você pode ver séries, filmes ou até mesmo tentar falar com alguém que fale português online ou um grupo de brasileiros que estejam aí e queiram trocar os conhecimentos entre as línguas, talvez ajude :)

Acabei de cair de paraquedas nesse vídeo, mas ainda assim a sua pronúncia é muito boa! Continua tentando que daqui a pouco tempo, você já consegue falar com mais fluência, e com mais segurança do que diz! Acredito que uma das únicas coisas que faltam para você se tornar quase um fluente da língua portuguesa,é a sua segurança sobre o que está falando, e um pouco da sua pronúncia! books in portuguese helped me recover my fluency very fast. for context i was born and raised in brazil but spoke english fluent since age seven and left in my early teens and have been speaking english for over twenty years now (ten of those out of brazil) and upon joining a mostly PT-BR speaking company i noticed just how many grammatical mistakes i was making so I started watching vlogs and reading in portuguese. If you cant have family send you books amazon has a selection in portuguese as well and bralivros sends books in pt to US

your portuguese is really good! the only thing we, native speakers, can notice is the accent, but the pronounce is amazing, i don't see one wrong word said. Also, the video helps a lot to train the english, so you are training your portuguese and helping us, who don't speak english so well, to improve our knowledge. Keep fighting, and let's evolve my friend.

I got emotional towards the end because I completely understand where he’s coming from. Coming from a family of immigrants I too feel disconnected from Mexican & Guatemalan culture at times. I am very blessed my family sacrificed so much for me & my future to be born & raised in the US but sometimes it makes me sad that I feel like a piece is missing. I don’t want Spanish to die with me. I want my kids to speak Spanish too. Thank you for making this video Tulio ❤️
