For the avocado seeds, after cutting it in half, place your index and middle fingers against the flesh on either side of the seed and use your thumb to push the seed from the skin side of the avocado. The seed will come right out, sometimes it will pop out and go for a stroll 😂😂

Coke is great on ham with some brown sugar, mustard, pineapple, and cloves (seriously)! Works great for a pork roast or porkchops as well. Makes a great glaze. Also for chili, adding chocolate, coffee, beer, or Coke isn't unusual in the midwest and southern part of the US. I've added cinnamon before too, and really liked it.

If you use 2 lbs of ground beef in your chili recipe, try adding 1/8 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. It adds a nice, subtle, flavor that works quite well. Just don't add any more than that. The line between "that adds a really nice, complimenting, undertone of flavor" and "Oh God, my pot of chili is ruined" is quite thin. Error towards too little as opposed to too much.

My brother has an unusual recipe book that might fit your bill. "A Man, a Can, a Plan: 50 Great Guy Meals Even You Can Make!". It's aimed at bachelors who don't cook much , so the recipes are pretty simple, few ingredients, mainly canned goods supplemented by fresh meat, dairy, and carbs like tortillas, noodles or potatoes. There's a significant overlap in what they call for in the cans, so it would be fairly easy to do half batches of multiple recipes. If you wanted to do a sub-series on "bachelor chow" type books there are two more from the same author, "A Man, A Can, A Plan, A Second Helping" and "A Man, a Can, a Microwave".

I have some quirky cookbooks... But they're mostly in German and Dutch. (1952 German school cookbook: "you will never own a fridge if your school is stocking this book", "electric hobs and ovend will never take off, so we won't mention them", "don't keep unrefrigerated meat for longer than 10 days" and "here's how to prepare brains".) Two exceptions: English Heritage has a reproduction of a Victorian chef's cookbook on their website (buying it supports the organization), I think it's called "The Victorian Way" or something? Alternatively, I've recently acquired "HPBooks Microwave Cookbook - The Complete Guide" by Pat Jester. It's from the 80s, which is a prime time for microwave cookbooks straddling the line between "useful, thrifty even" and "things you don't want to admit to the paramedics". This one recommends the use of aluminium foil in the microwave. My German 80s microwave cookbook has at least two recipes for microwaved snails. The Dutch one manages to make dishes with 7 different seasonings taste bland. Just... 80s microwave cookbooks, man.

Fun fact about the inventor of Coca-Cola: John Pemberton was a Lieutenant-Colonel in the Confederate Army, and also a pharmacist. His journey towards inventing Coca-Cola started as a means to cure his morphine addiction, which he developed while recovering from a saber wound inflicted on him during the Battle of Columbus near the end of the Civil War. Initially he developed his own version of "French Wine Coca" inspired by Vin Mariani, using coca leaf and kola nut, but he reformulated it to be alcohol-free after temperance legislation came into effect in his home state of Georgia. The carbonation aspect came in after he accidentally mixed the syrup with soda water, prompting him to pivot it towards being a soda fountain fixture. Eventually, the cocaine aspect of the formula was mostly phased out, although to this day the Coca-Cola company has a special permit that allows them to use "depleted" coca leaves in their formula, so there's still an aspect of coca to Coca-Cola, even without the presence of cocaine. So yeah. It was a wild and winding road that led to Coca-Cola becoming a thing. And now we're gonna go even wilder and weirder when Barry surprises his daughter with a Coca Cola chilli...
