I tried to buy a Rolex from an AD (Malaysia)

I just went to Rolex AD yesterday and managed to try the watch that I was looking for. It was a great experience for me. I managed to register for the waiting list. Hopefully I will get the call soon 🤞🏻

Grey Market, problem there is a premium come with it and the risk of getting a fake rolex from Grey market dealer

Some say you buy the dealer rather than the watch, so its probably good to get from established dealer who wont risk their reputation with fakes

@@joe_my honestly you are not buying a Kg Of oranges it involve 10 of thousand of Dollar so it is not worth taking the risk from Grey Market and of course it is your choice.

Hi sir. Does Rolex AD in Malaysia check the customer's background before buying the watch? I hope not coz i would like to own one within RM 20k and below, it will be my first luxury watch.

I think purchase history matters more than what background you are. The several staff i spoke to at the ADs never asked or talked about what i do for a living, nor asked for a business card when I registered my interest. By the way, the cheapest models are in the mid to high 20K range already, if you are lucky to get one. Grey market cheapest are mid 30k onwards for mens and about 30k for ladies models.

@@joe_my oh i see, because I'm from Kuching and there's only one AD here. Apparently I'm too shy to enter the boutique, it's nice to ask from someone who had already been to a Rolex AD. I would consider buying other brands such as Tissot or Tag Heuer but it's always Rolex that can keep it's value

@@KCHRider By all means go in and let the staff serve you. You are a potential customer anyway. Register your interest in whatever model you like, you never know when you might get the call.

Its been a year and multiple visits to the AD, but i dint expect much. The ADs here carry multiple brands, and while the salespeople are careful to tell you they dont do bundle, they always tell that they carry other brands *hint*

In other words you’ll have to spend on Tudor, Omega, Brietling etc first before buying an OP 41mm?? I’ve just left my interest for OP 41mm along with a Submariner no date; it’s been a month and I hv zero purchase history with the AD too lol..
