Same here. The website NEVER works and tells me to sign in to message them even though I am signed in. Tried calling and they said to take it to a service center which is at least 50 miles away. I have had multiple tools go bad this year alone and all of them are less than a year old. Whisper series drum fan and my $900 whisper series AWD 40v mower. This whole experience has really turned me off of Ryobi. I am not buying anymore of their tools again since they offer a warranty, but make it extremely difficult to actually follow through with it.

I’m currently going through the same thing right now with a trimmer. It has been 3 days now going back and forth from the service center and their chat people. I have almost all their tools and now I just returned a 40V lawnmower and a new trimmer/blower combo that I purchased less than 90 day. I’m slowly getting rid of my Ryobi tools and switching to Rigid

I had a similar problem a few years back. A reciprocating saw (NOT a Sawzall (R)), part of a combination kit, failed. The motor would hum, but couldn't move anything. Broken transmission or something. I just went to the Home Depot where we bought it, and asked for an adjustment. They confirmed it was broken, and told me to just get another one off the shelf. It was a somewhat newer model, but the same tool. I let HD do the negotiating with Ryobi.

100%. It used to be so convenient. But HD stopped providing Ryobi service in 2022. To make matters worse, the protection plans HD pushes on you mean nothing until the start of the 4th year after purchase. I was a Ryobi guy for lawn and garden. Probably not anymore, as a warranty repair is going to involve driving 3 hours in total (80 mile RT x 2). @@agentalexcamp

You think you can ship that for $10? You have not experienced the increased cost of shipping in recent years. The way they do their warranty claims is similar to (almost) everyone else. I'm not defending that, just sayin' it's not really relevant except they need to put more pressure on Home Depots to service what they sell. This too, is not all that isolated to Ryobi. I believe ALL merchants with lots of physical B&M locations, should service products instead of society throwing everything into a landfill and suffering the pollution of making new replacements.
@agentalexcamp
@agentalexcamp Жыл бұрын
I found out how much it would cost to ship it before making the video. It was $10. I have no problem taking it to a local service center, which is why I tried that first. The issue is for people, like me, that don’t have a local service center. Also, this is the first time I’ve ever had a company try to get me to pay to ship it to a service center. My Ring stopped working, they immediately sent me a new one, and had me send the broken one back to them. My Rheem water heater stopped working, Rheem gave me a warranty claim number within 5 minutes on the phone, took that claim number and the broken water heater to my local Home Depot, immediately switched out for a new one.

It used to be easy when Home Depot was still an authorized service center. HD and Ryobi knew or had to know that this change would screw consumers. There is *zero* legit reason for the only store in the country that sells these items no longer to be a service center.

I'm having the same issue with their customer service. I bought a 40v backpack blower about 4 months ago, it worked great until it stopped working. I maybe used it 3 times for a combined total of 20 minutes of run time. Battery was fine, the blower just doesn't work. I made several calls, emails, texts, basically every avenue to try and get ahold of Ryobi customer service. I was on hold one time for an hour and a half and no one picked up, so I hung up the phone. Super frustrating. I'm will definitely never buy a Ryobi product again. Its been about a month and still no response back.

Update to my Ryobi Mower "warranty" issue. As I described earlier, my home depot warranty I purchased along with my Ryobi mower, approximately a year ago required me to take the mower to the nearest service center, approximately an hour's drive away. I was to pay for all charges, up front, and after approximately 1-3 months later, I would get my mower back. I was then expected to submit my repair receipt back to the HD warranty people for reimbursement. I decided to look into Ryobi's warranty. Turns out, my mower is covered for 5 years. I did have to spend about 20 minutes "on hold" with Ryobi, until I finally spoke with a customer service representative. After giving her purchase dates and model/serial numbers, she then arranged for a prepaid shipping label to be emailed to me to use to mail my mower to the service center. Not sure on the wait time, but at least I didn't have to pay for anything out of pocket. I'll keep you updated on the repair wait time and the final outcome of the mower. Fingers crossed I get a new mower!....lol

Same problem here. Sort of. My Ryobi self-propelled mower stopped working 12 month after my purchase from Home Depot. Fortunately, I also purchased a 3 year warranty "all state protection" plan from Home Depot. When I went online to begin the warranty process, myh only option is to drive 50 miles to the nearest service center or have it shipped (who knows how much it costs to ship a mower). So far, my Ryobi experience is not starting off well. Oh, and the approximate wait time is a month to diagnose the problem and approximately 3 months if parts have to be ordered. That's a long time to be without my mower. Really considering going back to a gas mower.

I just did a search for this because I just had a tool failure and had to warranty it. Nearest service center is 81 miles away. They offered me a replacement tool right away, they didn't even ask me to take it to a service center. In my case the tool is their 18v ez clean power cleaner. Maybe that is the difference? Maybe those aren't repairable? Either way, I'm happy. I have spent thousands on Ryobi power tools, lawn/garden tools, and batteries. I've been using them for years. I have 20+ year Ridgid 18v cordless tools that originally came with Ni-Cad batteries which of course died but I can buy a new 18v Ridgid tool today and take it's li-Ion battery and it slide right into my old tool and it works. @@agentalexcamp What difference does it make if they only have a 90 day warranty? The Home Depot return period. It beginning of summer and I have 3 service centers near by. The quickest I can get a repair is 3 months for Ryobi tools (they do other brands because Ryobi doesn't have single brand authorized service centers, and have quick turn around on those brands because they don't break down as often according to what 1 told me). The cheapest thing they have to ship back for repair is a battery for $22 via USPS (non-HP as the HP will cost more due to weight). Most high volume manufacturers I have seen with low quality product that require the victim pay shipping at least get a negotiated rate then charge the victim fixed rate (based on the item being returned) for a shipping label. They want their product to be THROW AWAY!!! AND THEY WANT A LOUSEY REPUTATION that comes from people SPREADING that it is a low quality THROW AWAY product among friends.
