It is a dust collector that uses four embedded cyclone units that you can make yourself. Like the two-cylinder engine, I planned it without the chamber. Still, the placed VP40 is the chamber, isn't it?
★ Now, starting from the 1st cylinder 1st machine, this work became the 4th machine and conquered up to 4 cylinders. It is a skeleton type 4-cylinder that eliminates the chamber, following the 2-cylinder, and is made inexpensively using ready-made materials. The ready-made pipes and couplings were glued and poly putty, and I devised and shaped them so that the wind would flow smoothly. Due to the putty treatment, the painting process has been added. Painting is done after treating with a primer for plastics. Both are lacquer spray types, so they dry quickly. (Approximately 30 minutes) Putty drying takes 30 minutes, so even if you include sandpaper time, it will take about 1 hour. I've done them twice, so it takes about 3 hours to prepare from the putty to the finish of painting.
★ The materials used are explained in the video, including the length and connection status. All parts except the unit and lid are available at home improvement stores.
★ Consideration
★ In the case of 3 cylinders, a chamber is absolutely necessary, especially in the lower row. Of course, you can change the arrangement of the units and do without a chamber. (For example, except for one cylinder with a 4-cylinder array) However, it is not possible to control the wind well by suppressing wind interference and loss. In other words, the unit arrangement is difficult because the suction port is not symmetric. (See the layout of the design drawing) This time, the layout of 4 cylinders was based on a general layout example. However, since the connection is not a Y branch, there is a loss there. On the contrary, if the connection is made to Y-branch, the VP40 installed in the center will move to the left side due to the shape of the unit. → The phenomenon that occurred in exactly 2 cylinders has occurred, and it cannot be solved even if the interval between "units" is widened. ★ The reason for using MDF 9mm.
The thickness of the lid is 0.34 to 0.40 mm according to the manufacturer. A hole of 80φ is made there and the unit is bound. I sandwiched the rubber plate and closed it with bolts, but there were doubts about its strength and airtightness. By placing (laying) MDF, the rubber plate firmly adheres to both and fulfills its role. The pail itself is closed with a band, so it is highly confidential. Therefore, if you properly check and prevent air leaks from pipes and other parts, you will have a dust collector with high suction capacity.
★ Effect of taping. The connection port of the unit is processed with tape as shown in the video. I've said many times in the video that there's no air leaks, but I'm sure some of you may have doubts about that. The tape used is a non-adhesive tape from "N Denko". It may look like you're using adhesive tape, but non-adhesive is easier to handle, including removal. It is easy to rewind and fine-tune the thickness because the pipes are in close contact. The end of the tape will not loosen or unravel even if it is not sticky. Even if it pops out from the piping port and is wound, it can be easily trimmed with a cutter. This is also cheaply available at home improvement stores. The outer diameter of the pipe of the unit is 29 mm, and the inner diameter of the coupling of VP25 is 31.7 mm, so it is necessary to wrap the tape about 1 mm. This is by no means thick. The reason is that this gap absorbs the error of each dimension. →These can be used as an adjustment.

* Level 3 is "normal".
・For 3 cylinders, the upper chamber lid surface was 175 mm and the connecting pipe upper surface was 236 mm. This time, the upper surface of the saddle is 120.5 mm. From the perspective of 3 cylinders, it is much lower and more compact. The shape is also a skeleton type, so it looks slim. (This is also an individual impression)
・By setting the connecting pipe diameter to VP30 (inner diameter 31) this time as well, it seems that wind noise has been reduced and suction efficiency has improved. In the future, I would like to use this 4-cylinder for woodworking.
