I JUST got it to work for me and it has literally changed my life. I suggest start with a knowledge database of something. Like recipes or books. Something you will interact with daily. Make it simple like an inline gallery with a pic of a smoothie. And then when it opens up, just make a simple list. Then turn that list into a table view and add multi select categories like protein, green, etc. Another multi select category for ingredients (can be pulled into a grocery list database later). Then add values like calories or protein in g. Create filters for green only and protein only. Make a duplicate of that in case you mess up and then freely tinker with it and see what else you can do with it. That's how I slowly 'unlocked' more of Notion. If you use it to make just 1 basic everyday thing easier, it's just gonna snowball.

I've been using Notion for 2 years now, it has changed my life! It takes quite a bit of time to get used to, and to figure out everything that you can do with it, cuz there is just so much potential. But when I only just started, I used loads of templates and set ups of other people, and as I was using it, I was changing some things here and there, making it more comfortable for me to use, customising it to my own needs and getting rid of anything that was not working. Now my set up is completely my own and very personalised to my needs, but since my needs are ever changing, the set up changes with them pretty frequently. I play with set ups when I have time, if I don't have time atm but something is bothering me and I want to change it, I will put it in my master to do list (which is also in notion), tag it with "someday" since its not urgent and I will get to it at some point. I am also a final year student right now, and notion was just so great for organising my millions of assessments. I monitor my progress through my assessments there, my to do list for each particular assessment, deadlines, milestones, meeting notes and so much more. I would be all over the place with my studies without notion right now.

My tip for anyone interested is: just start. The great thing about notion is how you can adapt it to your needs, but it's a trial and error process. I had pages I didn't really use and ended up deleting, or that I had to change because they weren't practical enough. But after using it for months I am in love with it. My favorite thing is the fact that I can use it to store and organize random ideas so I don't forget them. Ex: I was just doing a page on places (cafes, libraries) I would like to visit in my uni town, or new activities I would like to try. It really feels like a second brain that I can use for all aspects of my life.
@nojerama7884 жыл бұрын
I completely agree with you saying you can't just jump in and know how everything in notion works, it has so many functions and options that that's just not possible. I personally recommend looking up KZbin videos about notion, people like Ali Abdaal, MuchelleB, Thomas Frank, and Mariana's Study Corner have all done videos on Notion and it makes it way easier to think about how to use it. I've been using notion for the last maybe 12 months and it is the single greatest program I've ever used, I use it for literally everything from my planning to my uni notes to just writing random stuff. I do still use paper for some stuff for uni and to do lists but almost all of my life is in Notion.

The 4 things that sold Notion for me 1) the filter and tags for posts 2) the toggle, the simplicity of the page layout, the check box, and how easy it is to input pictures. It surely is a powerful combined productivity and note taking app. 3) the linked databases and how we can highliht/edit what is in there. It IS amazing, I love this one so much. Makes annotating so much easier. 4) the interface is simple and pretty. Also, just a heads up apparently they have security issues. There is another comment here that talked about it pretty extensively, look it up it's interesting.

Hey Holly!! I just wanted to ask how Milca is doing! Just recently i saw a video on KZbin where I'm assuming vets/shelter animal carers explained why cats pee or poo in places they've never ever done before! And i immediately thought of Milca and you mentioning in a video that she peed where she'd never done before. They said it is because of depression....when cats become depressed for some reason they do the same....i was kinda shocked and sad....but Yeah....this is what they said....hope it helps if you are still wondering or something.... hope that's not the case with Milca though!!

If you ever have trouble, Microsoft-ToDo is very easy to use? Just not nearly as aesthetic

I tried to use Notion before but never actually took the time to learn the features. Now after watching your video I'm definitely gonna give Notion another try!

I’ve seen a lot of people using notion but I never really liked it because I didn’t feel like it was for me, but after watching this video and having more of an explanation I’m really excited to try it out! I use Habitica atm, but I think this will be a lot more useful for me
