Finally someone who agrees with me that Paris is overrated.

Paris is lovely if you observe some basic rules , same as in most major cities imho. Taking a taxi I would never ever even consider, I always use the Métro. Imho, a really cool place to visit is (make sure to make a reservation online several weeks before) the catacombs. If you want to have a fantastic view on the city, a much less crowded alternative to the Eiffel tower is Tour Montparnasse. The most impressive museum for me both regarding the building and the paintings is the Musée d'Orsay. The church with the most beautiful Gothic windows in the world is Sainte-Chapelle. Places that you should consider skipping because of excessive tourism: Quartier Latin, Place du Tertre, Montmartre and Sacré-Coeur (although the view on the city from up there is marvelous) Speaking French is a big help as well, of course, but you can usually get along with English.

I have never been to Paris, and I wouldn't expect much of it. Same with London. My favorite city in Europe is Rome, I remember the first time and every other time I came to Rome it felt like coming home. The city I hate is Vienna, it and its inhabitants are too proud of themselves, at least that was my impression every time I was there. Overall I like our German cities, humble and down to earth without a special pride or hype around them.

The inhabitants of Vienna are not really "proud of themselves" they just can't bear tourists anymore because there are way too much, most of them are disrespectful, and the fact that they come and sleep on the island make the rent go higher and perpetuates the gentrification. The huge cruise ships that come also damage the foudations (not sure of that word) of the city. This is why most of the venetians hate the tourists, so I understand them fully, and do not want to go there, because that would encourage the gentrification.

From my first trip to Paris I thought it was dirty and the people rude, but visiting all the monuments, & Versailles etc. makes up for it. As a foodie, I really love all the French-fusion foods (I've tried some traditional French cuisines, although it wasn't bad it just wasn't my taste). I haven't been to Paris in over 12 years, and I plan to make another trip soon (but I'm not really rushing to plan it either 😅).

I sort of did the same thing when I visited Bonn a couple of years ago and two Jehovah's witnesses came up to us( me and a friend of mine). We were really exhausted having walked around sight-seeing together for more than 2 hours. So I just pretended I don't know any German - he really didn't know any. It was hard though not to burst out laughing, because they were talking to each other in German asking each other questions how to say this or that in English and even plotting together how best to pull us into their religion. 😂 About the whole Paris thing: I just watched a video from another youtuber (just today this very night even!!) who also doesn't necessarily seem to like Paris. I'll post you the link in case you are interested. So if you might ever return to Paris, here's probably what not to do. 😅 (fyi: being a PoC and doing filming and vlogging in the African quarter in Paris, but more in the vid). kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJW7ep9nlp2liLc

Hallo Kendra! Du bist meine Lieblingsdeutsche, and I must say, you don't have to love France. You know, visiting towers is a bit boring to me, you can visit the Eifel tower in Paris, or the Telespargel at Berlin, Alexanderplatz. Both sites are worth a visit, and what I prefer, take a river cruise. On the river Spree in Berlin, on the Seine in Paris, and take a harbor cruise in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Yes! I love Berlin and Amsterdam so much more...

Paris can be a nice city if you go to the real Paris. The tourist part of Paris is full of scams and crowded. You should meet locals that will show you around

I agree 100% Paris is so dirty. I went to Paris after Barcelona. Paris is dirty

Barcelona is soooo much nicer

Not liking a city because you had strange or ugly experiences there that you could have experienced elsewhere is a bit understandable, but ultimately a bit strange. I assume that you also had good experiences in Paris, but that, in retrospect, they are overlaid by the unpleasant ones.

The only one that comes to mind is meeting a few people on couchsurfing and having dinner with them. I genuinely didn't enjoy that trip.

@@KendraAshanti Okay. My mind blowing experience in Paris was the Louvre, not because of Mona Lisa, i was disappointed how small this painting is, but because of the other rich works of art.

Wow finally someone who agrees with me ! I am from Brittany (on the east of France) and I made an exchange in Germany back in 2018 so every now and then, and especially since I started to study in Strasbourg, I have to go to Paris and this city is just soooooo stressful, I hate it. 5:19 and this is not a solution in Strasbourg, I tried it and the person ended up speaking German 😅😭 Now I answer in Swedish haha
@KendraAshanti3 жыл бұрын
haha Strasbourg is pretty much Germany!

@@KendraAshanti haha I think it depends of the neighbourhoods, but for the city center I totally agree 😂
