Yeah, this video has value. Thanks for spending the time to put it together. Each device has a different timbre and each had a breath and reed like trait. Its really like a choir. The piano almost seemed like a percussion in comparison to the choir and was a good support for the music.

CPAP machines are great for this. They are whisper quiet and designed to run for hours.

1. thanks for "tuning" in? lol 2. I guess you invented the melodichoir? 3. I have a big fan/chord organ that the school my children went to just put to trash, years ago. It's the small furniture kind. I have this old project of turning it into a melodica/harmonium thing by removing the indeed annoying motor and replacing it with a pedal contraption or something with balloons, or else. I haven't got the courage to put myself to it yet. Depending on the solution I use it might be called a velodica. :) 5. there's no number 4. 6. cheers!

5. Nice 😆 Sounds really cool with a really big velodica!

The fan organs were a great invention - for children's toys. I had a little Fischer Price 'Melody Train' one as a kid that was sequenced by a set of pins on a disc
@SimonTheMagpie2 ай бұрын
I have a similar thing but its a bunch of flutes playing the melody based on the disc pins.

I have a full foot pump organ that someone converted to a fan organ. One of my winter projects is to try to get some recordings done with it.

Hmm. A fan organ with a super quiet fan and a lithium battery wouldnt be a bad idea!

I was wondering whether using a PC fan or a drone motor might be a nice quiet option for these kind of instruments.

mY MOM HAD A FAN ORGAN, WALL CORDED. She was a virtuoso on it.
@guitfidleАй бұрын
I have one of those fan based organs, that plugs in to the wall and has some chord buttons like on an accordion. The fan isn’t quite as bad, but sometimes starts squeaking, so probably has a bad bearing in the fan. I’ve thought about getting another fan and making it an outboard unit so the noisy fan can be isolated from the music. I wonder if lung pressure would be enough for melody plus the chordal section…
@guitfidleАй бұрын
Man, this reminds me- I have a second one with a bad fan, a nice Horner melodica, as well as a cheap childrens one that kinda looks like a mini soprano sax. Bright red with blue and yellow keys. The two melodicas sound and look completely different, I think the Horner has metal reeds and the red one has plastic reeds.

I thought fan organs blew?
@organfairy2 ай бұрын
They do, but technically they could suck. Some of the old pump organs from the 1800's had bellows that created sucktion.
@miserirken2 ай бұрын
Why are you guys so mean to fan organs? ÚmÙ
@organfairy2 ай бұрын
@@miserirken I was not being mean. When I say 'suck' I am talking about the opposite of blow, meaning that the air passes the other way through.
