You should be more open up about your drug abuse and struggle with it... we Fans will be by your side to fight the demon... shit happened man.... but we should flash it out... Lincoln also went through the similar struggle... which affected his voice very badly... in every concert he seems struggling to return to his prime again, which is just unacceptable... Now, about performing live.....as a rock musician.. you must strive for live performance... kindly check out how many days Dream theater performed live only this year... only on February they traveled 3 countries... and will do show in Japan, S. Korea, Indonesia, Philippines on April... they all are 50+... you didn't became a rock and metal musician to make albums after albums, and earned from the sale, like other Pop musicians do... Rock is all about performing live, and watching how fans are moved by your music... definitely not only by your guitar solos, but as a whole.... for a rock musician watching fans go crazy should be waaay precious than money... however, if you have stage fright, that's a different issue...
