Hey scraps: 2 timers means your farmplots are in 2 separate chunks. If you move the farm over and just "happen" to get all the plots in the same chunk, it should combine all the crops into a single raid rather than 2 seporate smaller raids. Keep in mind, 2 chunks means it's dividing the crop value in half. Meaning half of the crops are worth X, and the other half are worth Y because they are separating the value between the 2 raids. You are essentially running 2 different farms on opposite sides of the world. Might as well be unloaded chunks. If you combine them, it could mean you get stronger enemies, but not as many. Do with this information as you will. You can combine them to make it be a stronger raid, or have more enemies to fight by keeping them as 2 smaller farms. Bot drops are nice and rare in the skylands. PS: If any of this is confusing, just ask Kan, I got this info from him.

Which does mean at the current farming 2 will generally be harder, gonna be a while before he starts getting farmbots raids, but once you get close to farmbots it could be a means to not get them

For the inventory's safety, I recommend building a platform above the trader out of cardboard and putting it there. As for how to get up there, you have a lift, a much safer alternative to stairs

I would recommend a rigging cage from the ground around the rocks near the edge. You could install pistons on the outside edge. Once the stone is drilled off the ground you undo the island side inner bar. You activate the pistons so it pushes the whole rock safely onto the island

What if you fill a tiny island entirely with soil, because the bots never spawn on the soil itself so maybe they'll all just fall instantly

as a game programmer, you are more likely to crash the game than have a spawnless raid (the dev would have to actively be thinking this is possible, to avoid you breaking it this way.. which is possible). If it doesn't crash, then it's more likely the "don't spawn on plots" would be overridden if the entire island were plots, and it'd switch modes after not finding clear ground.

That actually works in vanilla, if you build on an island and cover every spot not just with soil but anything player built. It's possible on land too but requires ludicrous amounts of blocks, because the game tries to spawn the bots randomly in a like 120 blocks circle from the center of your farm, if the chosen spot is blocked by a tree or a block it moves, to the sides or closer or further away. So you have to block out every possible spot, which ends up being a 60 block thick ring far out from your base. Someone did a video on it but i don't remember the name, maybe i'll find it

At the very least, I think you could build walls to keep the rocks from falling off the sides for the ones that don't shoot into the air, and you could build a cage as others suggested to totally contain it.

Scrapman please install other 00Fant mods (especially the ones in the sky mechanic workshop description) as those would be extremely useful for sky mechanic Those are all blocks and part mods so don't worry about having problems for installing them after mid playthrough. Those are useful because they have a lot of automation stuff that's useful for getting resources in a world like this. For example there's a seed press that allow you to get wood from extra seeds.

The seedpress is not needed because you can allready convert all types of seed to scrapwood in the craft bot. But i agree that all 3mods in the description of sky mechanic contain a lot of useful stuff.

@@Volt64bolt Midnight plant is to limit the amount of raids to 1 raid. unless the grow rate has been increased in this mod.? They should sprout before 4am enabling you to harvest before 4am.. if plants are left anytime after 4am it triggers another raid at 12am. basically a 4 hour window to harvest.

There is a separate fant tree re-grow mod. Leave the roots. Trees will grow back in a few days. Also have your weld tool ready to catch tree falling off islands. Weld to ground, then continue chopping.

Pro tip on the wood!! Make your bridge from cardboard! 5 wood = 20 cardboard and you can utilize so much more without worries. Also the farm is in 2 chuncks so try to move it closer or further from the trader. Another tip is tip is top caoitalize on the fall damge cap and expore lower island first to dry the resources and the go to the top islands

@@garlicbreadstick404 Still will matter to some degree, he might not already be at full health (was like 90% cap if I remember right?, so still don't have to have taken too many hits before the fall itself can be lethal), Or there could be bots on the island, which in worst case scenario even with no fall damage could keep him knocked down forever, untill they kill him

You can build a helicopter with this mod. (obviously helicopters can carry more and agile) Stack the bearings using a controller to make the blades faster. (if you want to be resource saving) Use a suspension glitch to roll, pitch and turn. (there are no other ways to do it) this kind of reminds me of one of your Trailmakers videos. (where you built helicopters and move crates and stuff)

Thanks for this series ScrapMan. A suggestion, never grow carrots unless you want to make sandwiches. beats and tomatoes for direct consumption. Thirst happens much more than hunger. on a side note, I actually use the same finger technique on my early farms also. Cheers!

Isn't it a vanilla scrap mechanic that if on edge of chunks the soil can count for two (or even 4 if at 4 corners) raids? If you move your farm right or left it should be one lot bigger raid instead of 2

Since you can mine now, it's probably worth building a chest. Also, can you put all your stuff on top of the trader building? If you put your farm in the back, you can build a wall on each side and only have to worry about defending 2 sides. You could also try to completely fill a tiny island with a farm to see how spawning works with it. If you plant basic crops right after midnight and collect them before the next midnight, you won't have to risk losing them. Keep looking for golden chests. If you get a seat, that would make the miner easier to use.

Try to build up from the farm side of the trader's building, and build a platform above the structure for your storage. It might need a platform, but you could even make a platform out of the stuff you're storing.

I know what you're saying. If they take out the whole corner on one side, that side won't be connected anymore. To take out a corner they would take out all of the horizontal blocks that attach it to the rest, so the others that commented are wrong because they aren't thinking of the whole situation.

I think you could use the water bucket during raids for haybots especially because you can reload it so quickly You can stun the haybots and get an opening to eliminate other bots

Ideas: - Build a bunch of blade saws and surround the farm with them placing them horizontally like 5 blocks apart, you can also put them on bearings and spin them when raid comes. - Build two swing arms horizontally on each side of the farm and slap the blades on the ends spinning them ofc, you can also make them to do like grabbing from outside toward the farm where you can also put saw blades and squash the bots with it :D - build the drop blade system on the sides of the farm with a piston behind the farm on a wall of a trader building, slap some spinning blades and cut thru bots when they come in the line with single switch :D (repeat dropping until they're all dead :D ) Hope it helps for some contraption ideas :D

I noticed at 19:40 he had 56 water in your inventory but after you water your crops you open up the craft bot and I see you have 37 water which leads me to think that refilling the water bucket takes water from your inventory

I would recommend to use: Fants Propulsion Stuff, it has a Chemical Lift Engine(Balloons powered by chemicals) or Fants Animated Wing Parts, which has wingparts that don't need bearings(less lag, but mind that you can change visual and power directions independently) Or maybe both, but thats up to you. your game, your call But take a look at Fants block&parts mods, he has put up many of his parts from the main mod as blocks&parts, so you could add them to your CG if you want

You can get wood from extra seeds as well as fertilizer, put your craftbot and resources away from the building when your raids get bigger they spawn on all sides. Your farm can get quite a bit bigger before having to worry about any real threat once you get your gun. Until you start doing tier 3 crops then all bets are off and you will need proper defenses.

When fighting Haybots swing at them constantly, while at the same time back away from the bot and strafe to your right. If dun correctly, you can take on 5 to 6 Haybots at a time and not be hit once. Give this a try.

If I were you, I think I'd build a scaffold up from the inner blocks of your farm, and keep the inventory up high. I did something like this in one of my playthroughs of Crashlander, I built my workshop directly on top of Bills' house, and it was as solid as a rock. I'm sure you could find a way to do the same between the trading post, and that vacuum thingy.

Tip: You don’t actually need a whole machine to mine rocks or cut trees. You just need a single drill or saw and hammer it into rocks/trees. If you spin it, it can easily mine/cut stuff. Also, if you die, your stuff will respawn at your spawn island

If you wanted to keep your inventor safe, you could build a platform on the traders hut. Do not build stairs or a elevator just use your lift. I was using this method on my save and it works very well. You could also make and weld barrier on all sides of trees and wled it to the ground, then break the bottom segment of the tree, let it fall as you break more sections, almost like a hopper and your tree wont fall off of the island.

You can spin the drill by hitting it with your hammer. You don't need a controller or a motor, a spinning drill will break rocks even if you spin it by hitting it with your hammer. Put a free spinning drill on a scrap stone base. You can hit the contraption to move it into the rocks, and hit the drill to spin it.

22:34 I personally would have 2x2 holes, and make a full on wall at the core. That way it is completely symmetrical, has 1 more block of distance, and is even harder to be cut out. It would take a bit more resources, but that is the dream IMO.

scrapman, you should probably put your inventory on an elevated level with multiple attachments to the ground, and also not behind the the shop, in a place you can see from your farm. that way bots wouldn't be able to damage your inventory

You can potentially use the slightly more renewable resource of oil and build between the islands with bubble block or if you use cemicals you could use plastic block

Maybe its less practical but I think it could be fun to make a monorail system between islands.(I might try this is my own world) Second idea: Could you place your resources on the trader wall behind your farm? If so, then they are protected while you are fighting the raid. If not, maybe you can build a wall there and move the crops farther forward for the same idea.

Use a better piston or more and spawn the "miner" further back, because the bouncing problem seems to be when fisics start for the creation. Not spawning on the rock might solve the bouncing problem

Because crude oil is renewable, I'd suggest using bubble plastic blocks for travelling You should also check the crafting bot to see if any blocks have custom recipes

34:38 there is a actually a limit, i doscovered it way back when survival dropped and i was snooping around the files. You get up after not moving for a bit or after the time limit is reached. Problem is, that time limit's at like 20 seconds or something

When you're mining the stone you should build a platform around the section of the island that the piece of stone is likely to fall towards so you can save as much stone as possible.

i have put some time into fants surv mod and there is alotta fun stuff in there , wings, gyros, props and the chem lift engine (like a hot air baloon powered by chems) and best of all large spart chest that auto sorts all the stuff inside

Your drill is still more advanced than mine, I usually just build a pole next to the rocks out of scrap, slap a drill on a piston at the top, and spin it with my hammer

There is the possibility of making a farm outside of loading range, that will mess up the spawns, if you find a small enough island, you just fill the island with soil and the farm bots can’t spawn in on the soil.

If you're looking at adding mods, you might consider 00Fant's survival mod. Fantastic flight opportunities with that mod (It has his wings etc.. in it) And don't get mad, but with SM physics, you don't need to turn the drill, just push it into the target, or let it rest on top of it, and the rocks will break.

If you put your inventory on a raised platform, so bots can walk under it. They should leave it alone. They will only attack things that are between them and the crops.

Bru, could have used blocks to save all of those rocks. Just build a little platform off the edge and it won't fall (this is when the rocks are falling) but it's best to build a cage BEFORE you break it
