The gamplay loop can actually be different, i mean it maybe the same enemies, wave layout and bosses but the way you work on your loadout and strat can bring different playstyle and gameplay, this is like how you do different build each time in CI or the rng factor in DW so gameplay loop is mostly depend on hiw player approach the game and what they enjoy but this is a really good response after all, keep up the great work👍

tower defense x is fun for me because i find its core loop fun in of itself. expert mode, before they fucked the game's balancing with op golden tower bullshit, was genuinely my favorite tower defense gamemode of all time, roblox or not. Im not gonna go into why, but im just gonna generally say it was just the right difficulty to where you could attempt it with whatever you wanted, and still have a difficult, but ultimately not unfair experience. It rewarded good strategy and was very replayable.

This is exactly what I feared, newer tower defense players think it was always filled with slop. It only started back in like 2023. Before then the only popular td games actually were well made and very few had a gacha system. The only bad ones were ones people first started making td games. Even John (the creator of Tdx) said he misses when it was only tds and tower battles because now its filled with poorly made cash grabs. I also didn’t like it because new player would think that tower defense on roblox is terrible because of the amount of slop their is now. Tdx is literally the only good new td game. The slop only started once ttd was made then it sparked a tom of cash grab gacha system games. Before the slop era the actual good td games were (and still are) Tower Defense Simulator Tower Defense X Tower Blitz and Tower Heros. Now every new td game is just anime and brainrot crap.

As a tower defense veteran on roblox, i can confidently say the main appeal is to always try a new approach or strategy against the enemies in td games. Like what tower synergizes more with another or perhaps which one could suprise you at being effective against a specific type of enemy for example. Always trying something outside the main strategies and experimenting with placements is also quote fun. Like placing a tower delibirately far away but its upgrades give it alot of range so you risk it in order to cover More range than actually being closer to the path as an example. In general, the main fun aspect is always a new perspective or approach to the same problem you've seen before, spiced up so much more if there's recent buffs/nerfs here and there to always "icebreak" the boring metas of using le most expensive tower to win. As a person whos played TDS since beta and TDX since launch, they cannot be compared to toilet tower defense or any of those gacha td games. Recently TDX has been trying to fix the grind with the 80%+ rewards if you beat a mode on a certain map for the first time and also the “missions” that are mentioned by the owner to help deal with the grind. And also with the Halloween battle pass “Chapter 4” gives a TON of points for it making the grind so much easier and faster and also from now you still have like… 40ish entire days to do it. And for TDS the monetization can be a little much but it isnt like pet simulator or games along that nature and sure the grind can be a bit much, But TDS and TDX provides quality updates/ events with custom voice actors, cutscenes, towers, and more. They aren’t anything like FNAF TD, TTD, etc. They arent money hungry, They have devs, voice actors, etc to pay and a family to feed. Which doesn’t help when roblox pays developers rather… low to put it simply.

this might be insane but I think depending on the game, sometimes TD games can actually help team building skills, especially with things that require a squad of people to do. You communicate with each other to help defend the base. Get some people with poor teamwork skills, make them play a TD game for like a week or something, and their teamwork skills will probably improve, idk

I play both Ci and Tower Defense games (like tds and tdx), and I personally do not like the grindy gameplay of either, but I know that it is a core part of the gameplay loop. I find it more fun to try to use uncommon strategies or do stupid stuff with things people normally discard, like some weapons in ci. It makes playing the game much more entertaining than the grind of doing the same thing over and over. I also do wish that tds and tdx played more into the aspects of having 1 difficult mode or challenge to get a reward instead of something easy being repeated over and over again. They both do this at times, but i personally think they should lean more into it. However, anything or any monetization in tds or tdx CANNOT be compared to stuff like ttd and those anime tower defense games that use of young children's time with what is basically disguised gambling. Tower defense games should NOT be about who has the best item in it. Instead, they should take actual planning and strategy that being the which interests me about the genera. Games like btd6 show this perfectly. The game requires almost no grinding to unlock every tower. However, there are challenges that are only based on your own skills.

Something I find sad about some roblox TD games is they either die so fast or become pure grind. TDX had so much potential which it still had but the grind just ruins it. I honestly hoped for TDX to be more wacky due to its amount of mechanics but John's ego and sarcasm decided to run the game. TDS on the other hand became more of a brand rather than a special roblox game. It became more of a mascot rather than a game made with pure fun.

Tdx didn't have lots of potential on release, it was ridiculously overhyped, and when the people who were expecting a master piece left, the real players stayed, and no John's ego and sarcasm did not run the game, far from it, he has toned down his ego to basically none, all he really does now is balancing the game, his only show to ego and sarcasm is from the discord which should not be involved with his game.

Preferences exist, some people have a higher tolerance to grinding while some won't accept grindy games at all. That's why the quality of a game should not be judged by the grinding process but rather judged by the overall quality.
