প্রায় ১০ বছর হলো জার্মানি, ব্রিটেন, ফ্রান্সে আছি......আমার দেখা মতে এদের অন্তত:পক্ষে ৯০ ভাগ বাড়িতে ২/৩ তলায় কোন বারান্দা নেই। একদম উলম্বভাবে সমতাল। এর কারণ এদের অতি ঠান্ডা তাপমাত্রা। যেমন আমাদের দেশেও শীতকালে মানুষ বারান্দায় বসে না। আর এদিকে তো অতি শীত, বরফও পড়ে দীর্ঘ সময় ধরে। আর এরা বারান্দায় বসার সময়ও পায় না। কাজ কাজ আর কাজ। এসব কারণে এদের বাড়ি ঘরের কোন বারান্দা নেই। নিচ তলায় মেইন এন্ট্রান্সে সামান্ত একটু বারান্দা থাকে যাকে ওরা porch বলে। আর আপনি বলছেন ব্রিটিশদের দশ ফিট প্রস্থের বারান্দা থাকে। আর ব্রিটিশ স্টাইল ব্রিটিশ স্টাইল বলার কী দরকার। আপনার বুদ্ধি বিবেক পছন্দ দিয়ে আপনি বাড়ি তৈরি করবেন। এতে সেটা ব্রিটিশ আমেরিকান ঘানার স্টািলের সাথে মিলতেই পারে। আসলে আমাদের মনের দাসত্ব যে কবে শেষ হবে জানি না।
