The most basic illustration can be: The fact that you helped someone when they were in need doesn't necessarily mean that the same person has to be there for you in your time of need. Secondly, the fact that you helped meet a need doesn't necessarily mean that you will have the same or similar need that should be met. In such a case, you sowed mercy/help and you will reap same. So, you reap what you sow (mercy/help) not where you sowed (a friend in need).
