Hello, dev here. Thanks for playing! You hit on some good coffee shop placement early on. If you had some of the later buildings unlocked already (Neural Net Weaver or the Black Market, maybe, or drew some Actual Trees late game), I think you could've gotten pretty far. Also, I panicked a bit when you were placing your second building. There's a dialog that explains how to change layers and rotate buildings, but a bug kept it hidden. Glad you were able to figure out the controls, haha.

I believe that the x2 from residentials stack. So your x12 could've been x24's if you had placed one more residential. Halfway through the video you buy another residential and almost put it in the right spot to x2 your income, but then you put it down somewhere else. Then from that on you had crazy bad luck and had every shanty dodge the spot next to it.

Diagonals are still adjacent. You spent most of the game with 5 residentials next to your first coffee shop that could of been doubled a second time with 1 more residential... 20:56, those were all shanty apartments not basic apartments, The Fancy Apartment does not like shanty apartments. You built it in the middle of the slums.

I like the concept don't like the visuals. I mean, I kinda do on their own, but I don't think they read well enough for what you need in a game like this. especially with the complexity of 3d, you should be able to tell what each thing is individually at a glance. Half the things didn't really look like much of anything even after closely examining them.

Each building gives you coins, the buildings location synergizes with other themed buildings. The slums are random X's. You are being pedantic

Dev here. Luck Be a Landlord is an amazing game and it did some amazing things with synergies and what I'd call combinatorial gameplay. I had lots of fun with it, but I felt like it was too swingy (or too dependent on the RNG). Good builds could go bad through no fault of your own. My "solution" is that you'd place the symbols (or, here, buildings) and they'd stay in place for the rest of the game. If the random slot-machine of LBaL is a key element of that game for you, than it's true that this game wouldn't seem related. But if Landlord calls itself a roguelike, I feel like I can call this a Landlord-like :)
