Iirc they not only run out of fuel really fast due to the tiny amount of fuel in the tank (which makes sense because they’re only supposed to have enough fuel to get from one end of a 1/4 mile drag strip to the other as fast as possible), drag vehicles also overheat really quickly due to the radiator being too undersized to accommodate the massively overpowered engines these drag vehicles come with.

I think the reason why you didn’t float correctly was probably because you chose a truck that’s really big and top-heavy, so it capsizes almost immediately. I tried this too with the new Autobuggy, but that doesn't work too well (even though it is small enough and lightweight enough to float) because the engine being in the rear gets dunked underwater and hydrolocked when throttle is applied.

I've made the Upfit D-series float, the decommissioned ambulance upfit with the wide axles mod and I had to strip some extraneous parts off to get some weight down and used the weight reduction kits mod to remove a further 40% of the entire vehicle weight, but it floated, it had problems with rolling under engine torque though since I was using a big Cummins and it made the truck tilt to the right and by turning to the left to counter that the wheel gyro force made it roll further. So I used the H-series bus and put that on wide axles and it worked better. Still only 3 mph top speed on water, but at least it works. Its a decent off-roader too, if a bit bouncy since I had to stiffed the springs to lift it higher so the chassis doesn't make it slower in the water.
