Well said and presented. This can become a massive problem for certain writers. The ones who make big bucks in the traditional world can be the worst offenders. The future belongs to the disciplined.

Interestingly, my situation is pretty much the opposite to yours. I always _hated_ editing. It started similarly. With my high school and uni essays, I did my best to write the final text with the first attempt. But now, I enjoy rewriting much more than editing. And I really don't like editing (as you described it). I don't consider rewriting an admittance of failure. For me, it's a chance to explore the world I'm creating and the characters even more than before.
