@@chucke756Always cheaper to do yourself, but $400 really is not that insane if it's decent parts and front/back pads/rotors and labor. Especially from a dealer. Are the back brakes drums? I know Toyota still likes to put drum brakes on the rears on a lot of cars for some reason.
@chucke756 Жыл бұрын
@@kevinmach730 No back brakes are disc brakes. I’ve done a lot of drum brakes - disc brakes are so much easier. It was 440 for front pads and rotors cut not replaced. I don't know if it has a timing belt or a timing chain but if it has a timing belt you need to adhere to the mileage. If you bought this thing new go to a dealership and find out when the timing belt was replaced last because I know a lady who had a Kia and she was coming from Florida to Indiana and she didn't think it was that big a deal she'd change it when she got to Indiana well she didn't make it to Indiana that timing belt broke and she had to replace the whole engine and it wasn't covered under warranty because she had failed to change it at the specified mileage.

@michaelthomas9243 Жыл бұрын
Nope. Hondas are definitely interference engines.
@johnmariano47 Жыл бұрын
The only reason I can think of why Honda keeps the timing belts is that it really does not break even up above the required maintenance schedule of the internal parts which you have to be replaced such as the water pump and seals etc which will almost definitely breakdown. The timing belt itself is not expensive. When uou actually inspect it as well, it is usually still intact and sometimes you think it doesn't need replacing but you replace it. That said, the cost of redesigning and tooling changes and ongoing testing, modifications, recalls of a new design certainly affect prices and profitability hence the image as well. So they may keep selling things that continue to work to be able to work on more innovative designs hopefully. Additionally , sometimes being forced to make that maintenance keep you from having big engine trouble when you most definitely not need it. If a design and maintenance system works, why change it. But hey, who knows. Still, a timing chain could be better.
