If you've ever been hitchhiking through Winnemucca then you know exactly what this song is about. It's dry desert, desolate. I was there once exactly like he's talking about. I used to hitchhike all over the country back in the '60s. One year I went across country four times. I was a vagabond, that's for sure. I think I've been through just about every town he's singing about. I love it when he says, "I've breathed the mountain air, man."
