Jenn I have always appreciated how well you carry yourself on camera. While you don't publicize what darkness or extremely personal matters you have in videos, you don't hide the fact that you do have them. In my opinion, you are one of the more real KZbinrs on the platform. Even if you feel you were selling out a little bit in some of your sponsor videos, there was still a sense of realism and honest positive opinions of the products. On the comment about Jenn lacking backbone tho...that's one pet peeve I have about political activism. I don't think it always has to be "I am 100% committed or I'm a hypocrite". I have been watching her for almost a decade now, and her outspokenness about woman's rights , mental health, growing up an ethnic minority is truly impressive. Yea she may not be as involved as one would like her to be, but that's not her full time job. If anything, I am proud of her to raise awareness about them and trying to do little by little. And that's the tea.

My complaint is not that she's not 100% committed. It's that when she does stand up for a cause, it's for her sponsors. E.g. for earth day she marketed a skin care product. Not because she actually cares about the planet and global warming. I'm not a hater, I've been fan for years but had to unfollow after seeing that. Made me sad.

Quitting smoking is the hardest task for me, I am on my fourth try at the moment at it is a freaking agony. Smoke free for 2 months now, the temptation is still strong. Would love to hear more about how you managed it!

@wj 17468 she's screwed for admitting but also screwed for not talking about it though. Honestly young people see smokers everywhere, even their own parents or some other youtubers. I think it's great that she addressed it and saying how it's the worst decision of her life. Making it a taboo and not admitting it will just entice the younger people more.

martha adelia I completely agree with what you say about declaring something a taboo. Actually, not talking about and issue causes a bigger problem than addressing something. She CLEARLY didn’t show off or talk about it as something that should be followed. It is an unhealthy and nasty habit. She also mentions being hung over in some of her vlogs, why is alcohol any worse? Jenn is an adult and KZbin is not age restricted, nor does her content have to be PG 13. I think it is more cringe worthy when a 30+ woman does a back to school video every single autumn. Addressing serious topics such as addiction can have better results than swiping it under the rug. In addition, if a young person has access to YT, they can find MUCH nastier things that are even promoted, like overdone plastic surgeries and unrealistic body images for example.

It’s just really hard. I stopped smoking 3 and a half years ago. A few tips I would give it’s to stop doing things that make you want to smoke, for me it was drinking. So I had to quit drinking for a while because I would want to smoke. Also I stopped hanging out with my smoker friends for a while (which sucked, but seeing other people smoke made me want to smoke), some of those friends quit with me so we were like sober buddies hahah. Quitting sucks, but it’s worth it

Business is business and if you support influencers that align with yourself then watching their sponsored content shouldn’t be a problem. I appreciate you wanting to try and stand up for things publically in the future. I can see how the fear of being attacked, especially on a platform like KZbin, can be pretty discouraging. I used to be really afraid to get things wrong and then get ripped apart for it. What helped me the most was considering it as another facet of allyship, taking the hits for people who are less well equipped to deal with the backlash or people who have already been suffering through it for a while. It may hurt when people attack me for taking a stand but with everything that's going on in the USA right now, I feel like for a lot of people this is a life or death situation. It's not just a matter of being palatable in my opinions, it's that if I don't stand with at risk groups there could be legislature tomorrow that puts their lives at risk, they need support now more than ever. Sorry for the novel lol been watching u for ages and I saw a comment u made to someone a while ago who was mad abt what they felt was too much of a change in content and you said, "maybe you've just outgrown my channel" and tbh your willingness to do the hard work that comes with change is why I've not outgrown you in all this time 💕💕💕 Wishing you all the best xx

I’ve watched Jenn for quite a few years when she was still Clothes Encounters and she’s definitely grown up over the years and it shows. Her channel has changed and moved forward with the times and she was honest with her answers on the assumptions people made about her. You handled the questions well. Lots of people don’t stand up for causes because there’s many different reasons for that and that’s fine - it’s a personal thing as well. It’s great that you want to change things on causes and you got so much heat a few years ago when you said that you hadn’t voted in the US elections when it did matter a lot particularly at that time. Times have changed though, and you’ve learnt from that. Good video, I liked the assumed questions and answers.

I went to an international school but people assume immediately that my family can afford it comfortably... It's tiring to explain, and it's worse to try tell people "no I cannot buy this even though it looks good because money is a sensitive issue I wish I didn't have to talk about". People go on trips and they ask me to go with them and we can't afford it. Frankly I often feel cut off from local people who assume I'm rich and actual rich people who also assume I'm the same.

Always impressed by how well you handle yourself, while still remaining the grounded, down to earth person you are! You've come a long way from your early days and we couldn't be prouder of you! 💕😘 It's always interesting to know what people assume about you. One that's frequently made about me is that I've had everything handed to me on gold and silver plates because I went to international school in Singapore and there's this generalization that our parents are in senior positions at big cooperations or diplomats and the school fees are being paid for by the company. That wasn't my case, my parents was paying part of it, while we got help elsewhere because my Mom wanted me to have the exposure of a multicultural environment and to be a global citizen. Things got financially challenging at times, but grateful nonetheless.

I usually get a similar assumption that I am "fake friendly" or my personality is an "act" when I know I am just a genuinely nice person. Enjoyed the video and although it can be tough to share these comments it just shows how much you care about your subscribers and showing everyone how genuine and real you really are :)

I enjoyed you talking about causes. I've always wondered what your stance was on certain things, but rarely have I seen it in your public facing outlets, so I've never been truly sure. While taking a stand can be hard, it's also the things people need to see. When people stand for what they think it's right with confidence, it lets people know that this isn't something that you should feel bad about or hide. Thanks for sharing!
