I've been kinda burned out on Animal Crossing... 😩

Even though I think it's totally normal not being always super enthusiastic and hyped about the same game all the time, I just wanted to chat a a bit about why I sometimes feel such overwhelming demotivation for playing new horizons...

So a 4 months ago I got burnt out bc I did all my island stuff like finish my resident services stuff ect everything done but decorating my island and I didn’t have enough money or furniture and I didn’t know u can get the stuff to change your cliffs, and change your rivers and I hated my island shape so I gave up and I didn’t like any thing I did so yea but this June (2023) I found my switch and I was bored so I plugged it in and played I got addicted again and now I almost done with my island! I got my dream villager so I’m now back in action!

If you're reading this Cinnamilla, I'm new to this channel, and I recently subscribed. I've been burned out in acnh, as well. I think that's because after I got K.K. Slider to perform for the first time, and then designed the island so it'd reach 5 stars, all I could do was just do the usual: find the fossils, hit all the rocks, talk to my villagers and give them gifts to try and get their pictures, and, after the 2.0 update, visit Harv's Island or the north beach to see if Redd had any art I hadn't donated to the Museum yet. It was probably only natural that was when the burnout would eventually kick in. For me, my method for curing my burnout was taking a break, and then starting all over. I actually did that recently, and it's worked as always. So, if I ever get burnout again, I'll know what to do. If you're still making videos, then I'm sure I'll enjoy them. In the mean time, I hope you're keeping well.

I had a massive burn out for about 6/7 months and for me it was putting too much pressure on myself to get the "Perftect" island .. I restarted and gave myself some mini challenges like atm my island is diy items, nook mile items and only place items on top of the diy furniture, also no TT or treasure islands .. I'm loving it now

I deffo feel that about putting a lot of pressure on having the 'perfect island' (especially when seeing all these super-pro islands on instagram/pinterest etc -- ugh it's difficult not to compare/put too much pressure to have the same kind of island)! But your new island & the way to do it sounds great! I love the idea of the mini challenges and no treasure islands and using diys (I'm kinda tempted to do diys only island one day/maybe next) 💗

I have had burnout several times usually I restart, but I understand also ,you get feeling guilty going back and your villagers are like , " wow haven't seen you in 3 months and really who needs that .😅

I so agree with everything that you said! ❤ I am seriously considering buying another Switch so I can have another island. I’ve restarted 2 times and my current island is my second island flattened, which did help, albeit it took a zillion years to flatten. So until I maybe get a second Switch, which is honestly is a pain, my current island is one I’ll change seasonally! Glad you’re back!

Changing your island seasonally is such a good idea! Flattening I know can be a pain 🫠 takes me ages always too! (I'm still in the process of flattening my first island for the third time again haha!!) Oh how I wish we really could have more than one island per switch! But here's to hoping that'll change for the next game 🤞😂🍀

🐨🐨🐨 Aaaaw, that's okay my dear.^^ I think it's way more "easier" to get AC Burnout for those who make content about it. I never had AC Burbout because I never had the pressure to make content for anyone. I also never made impressive buildings on my island, because I never felt the need to impress anyone. XD It might be good to take a break and slowly, really slowly play again bit by bit. No pressure. I have my hands full flattening my island for the very first time! 😱😱😵‍💫😵‍💫 But I'm excited how create a very new landscape. X3

Hi Milla, How are you? Sorry I'm catching up your videos, I'm quite busy at the moment 😢 First, I'm very happy to see you again, watching your chill video 😊 Secondly, yeah, I feel the same. ACNH brings so many things that didn't exist in ACNW, but at the same time, idk, I feel that the game is more empty. Today's video games are more like regular patches every 2 weeks or months. I feel like if ACNH was managed like ACPC, it would make the game playable longer. A patch every month with a little bit of stuff is enough to keep people playing. Today, the fact is that the game is going in a circle. It could be a good thing, but the events are too simple. As for me, I have a routine that makes me play more than 1h30 per day. But, I don't have the time in my life. Moreover, if I do that every day, the game becomes boring. So yeah, I stop playing it. I feel bad, I have plenty of things to do on it. The other issue is the fact that we have 1 island per switch. Just no 😢. Reasons are the same as you say. I feel like ACNH could be better with a lot of stuff, but they play it like an old AC game. Today, people want more for the same amount of money. That's why I'm a little bit disappointed. But C'est la vie. Have a nice day Milla 😊 And yeah always the 🐨🐨🐨🐨🐨🐨🐨🐨🐨🐨🐨🐨😂

Hope you’re doing good 🤗 how’s gym life going? 😆 Yeah, I’m curious to see what they do for the next one.. but these days I see a lot of these big franchises (like the Sims) going for the ‘family friendly’ direction - taking all spice/character out of the game.. oh well 😃 acnh is still enjoyable but of course it could always be better 🤣 And yes, we never have enough time for games. It’s funny I’m one of those people who never get burned out from this game I’m still playing even three years after its release I wake up at 5 o’clock play for about an hour get off and then come back 8 to 9 hours later and play again for the remainder of the night been like that every single day ever since 2020

Honestly, I find New Horizons pretty boring outside of decorating 🤷🏻‍♀️ The villagers in this AC game mostly just feel like they're a representative of one overarching personality type, like they're just here to bring Normal, Snooty, or Cranky villager energy to the island and not much else. They don't really feel like unique individuals with unexpected dialogue or personal preferences; essentially, it feels as though they're the same 8 people with different skins. I usually feel no real incentive to talk to my villagers more than once or twice each time I log in because the dialogue loops so quickly. To me, the other Animal Crossing games also used to have a lot more mystery, and the world felt more unpredictable and open. In New Horizons, it's almost like once you've played through a year, you've pretty much seen everything the game has to offer in terms of chance encounters, holidays, and general gameplay aside from building. I do like New Horizons for what it is--building an island is super fun when you're in the mood to do so--but it's mostly a creative outlet/collecting game to me, and not so much a world that I enjoy spending leisure time in. Once you've built your perfect island and completed your museum, what else is there to do? The most realistic answer seems to be to tear it all down and start again, and it's easy for that cycle to cause burnout! I'm a Wild World native who never played New Leaf, though I definitely do see how Nintendo took what they started in NL and built upon it, fleshing out the creation system and giving players a lot more freedom to make their own little world. I would, however, love to see them bring back some magic, mystery, and depth to the series in the next Animal Crossing installment! I believe that making the world more nuanced and layered will keep players coming back, even when they aren't feeling particularly creative or inspired!

You have such great points here! And I especially, 100%, feel you on the whole villager personalities thing.. I reeeally hope they work on that by giving the individual villagers some more depth or at least more individual/unique dialogs for the next ac game at least (I think even pocket camp does a better job in this aspect - which says a lot 😂).. Here's to hoping that they implement some of the player feedback for the next game and bring back some of that og ac magic🤞✨
