Wow!! Good to know. That is just awful :( I'm glad I ignored their emails. I'm glad you posted this, the world needs to see this experience. Really sucks they would make threats. Absolutely ridiculous. I've had some companies do the same in the past. As long as you are being honest, they can't sue you. I ensure that my evidence is on video for all to see, and let people choose for themselves. I'm glad you posted the video and showed the results. Keep those videos up! What a jerk :(

First Sunfun has really made a bad thing worse by threatening you. I would never do business with them after hearing this. Does not matter how good there product is. Secondly what they are doing is harassment and threats that is illegal. I’m sure there are some attorneys among the subscribers that could help you in case you would need legal help in case the threats continues.

Take it as a compliment on your channel. They know the industry and you’re channel are going to blow up and they don’t want potential customer’s seeing that test show up when they’re doing pre-purchase research in future. This only goes to show they’re a company not to be trusted, I’d link this at the end of that test video, especially as you’ve been honest about your misdemeanour. Edit: We’ve all done stupid thing’s in our youth. I was arrested and cautioned for drunk and disorderly at 18 (legal drinking age in the UK) because I was stupid enough to antagonise and insult a riot van full of police officer’s on my way home with friend’s by giving them the finger from across the street. I was too fast for them but they were too smart for me, they got me when I thought they’d given up. 🤦‍♂️

I too just saw this post (video) as I am just watching more from you as I have only recently subscribed. I can definitely sympathize as I have a friend who went thru a similar and serious situation, but the shiit part of this is the fact that they/he chose a dirty fight. It’s the classic “ since I can’t win fairly, I’ll try and win on something irrelevant” -the kid having a tantrum and wanting you to feel his pain and anguish- guess he hasn’t leanrned about humility and how one can grow from a potential lesson learned. And, he also could have tested the issues himself , discussed it with you and if there were anomalies , been honest and moved on….could have even made some points! Anyway, it’s in their best interest to refrain and try to salvage from this lapse , and hopefully rebuild whatever it is they wanted to attain ($$?!). Its a sad reality that their behavior is what drives good people from trying to help others online with their expertise, knowledge and genuine good hearted nature to bring info to folks who are looking for some of the above to help them. Thats what makes community great in areas we making attempt to DIY. The bully’s, and those are use to getting their way attempt to silence honest people and when one resorts to bully threat tactics it almost always backfires on them. In my whole lifetime of experience, (I think I’m a little older than you), when a salesman runs the other opposition companies down rather than “up selling” his own product, there is usually a serious problem. I usually walk the other way when I run in to such a person. SFK have now done that in spades, and have lost any trust or respect that I could ever have potentially had for them. Their threats to you are absolutely disgusting. Your honesty is very obvious and very apparent to me. (I also hate to say it: how many teens have not EVER shoplifted at some stage in their youth? Yes, kids do indeed do stupid things, often just a one off impulse thing. I’d even guess that not many grown adults could say with total honesty, that they had not EVER shoplifted anything as teenagers. You were unlucky enough to get caught, then did the right thing and pleaded guilty. Lesson learned. Move on. That was a hell of a long time ago! Well done Ray! And G’day again from Oz 🇦🇺 P.S. I expect all companies to at some point drop the ball and send out a defective product, it's not a big deal if they're willing and able to rectify the situation, they become heroes if they have good customer service imho. I have only just found your channel and this is post is now 6 months old. I am very impressed with your reviews and the way you present them. Methodically viewing your posts, I have now come to this and have been taken aback. There is right way and a wrong way to approach someone and Sunfunkits approached you the wrong way with guns blazing. This company could learn a lot from you; as your calm, passive, response to this is enlightening and says so much about your character. Purchasing from this company, for me was not an option after your test results and now, will never be, even if the tests were redone and the batteries were found to be better than previously tested. They have no integrity and no honor.

I was considering SFK but if they are using threats to make their products look better than what they are I will not even think of them in future or even watch their videos now. Ray, I'm so sorry you had to deal with this. These are some of the reasons KZbinrs are reticent to review products. Was thinking... Maybe you should have a third-party test the cells. Ask them to sign the report and test methodology. One more thought. Auditing one out of fifty products going out the door doesn't cut it. Especially for products that must meet a specification. I worked in hi tech all my career. We shipped TENS OF MILLIONS of products around the world. Can you imagine what would have happened to our business and reputation if our products didn't do what they were designed and spec'd to do? They were designed and tested with PLENTY of margin. And during the design and testing phases - if our Engineering team didn't feel it met the specs, our Sales and Marketing teams would have to scale back their sales rhetoric. Under promise and over deliver. Obviously Sunfunkits isn't doing that.

Honest reviews are why I watch certain KZbin channels. Most of the others that just talk about the positives are just a bunch of shills that are a waste of time. As an engineer, there are so many statements or ignorant comments that drive me mad. I make mistakes, have misunderstandings, or just can't communicate with the correct words at times but we are mere human. Continue down the honest path and we will continue to watch.

I thought your test was fair and balanced. He did a video that was interesting about voltage and watts with those testers, I have that tester too. I learned something from both video, but am very disappointed to hear he has threatened you and your family. What really suprised me was that when he tested his own batteries he also got similar low capacity results but played them off as faults of the that specific tester that he borrowed from a customer. He didn't actually capacity test with the testor that he supposidly tests every 50th cell with to verify the capacity and prove to us that the 3 cells he was testing were acutally pulling full capacity as stated on the stickers or even the full 280AH spec. Instead he claimed that the tester was doing the math wrong but then he was useing the watthours divided by a nominal voltage of 3.2 when we all know the nominal voltage of LiFePO4 is between 3.2 and 3.3v to hit near 50% capacity (3.26v/cell is where all of my packs hit ~50% with zero load).

As a business, you have to chalk some things as a loss. This guy basically made it WAY worse for himself. Who does criminal background checks on their customers or potential customers? Wow! Just wow!

Good share. It shows your integrity, and their lack of. A lot of buyers of the SFK batteries included kit probably don't own the testing equipment to varify their claims. I, of course, don't know if the other KZbin reviewers of their product had tested their claim of battery capacity and chose not to include it, or were using their own batteries in the kit only version. As I recall from your previous videos, SFK was putting their own battery spec label on each of the batteries. That would imply they themselves had tested and varified the capacities. Then they tell you they only spot check every so many batteries. So they're just picking numbers out of the air to put on their labels? How dishonest. 🤙

Thanks for sharing your experience with this person/company. It's really sad that it has come to the point of someone making threats because they can't accept honest criticism. I would consider this like shooting themselves in the foot. A business can't go on for long with this sort of disrespect. Instead of trying to understand/resolve the capacity issue he continues to take shots at you and your testing (even though many have commented on the latest video saying they disagree with his testing method and calculations).

Your past is so far behind you, and the offense so minor, all I can do is shake my head in wonder at how he believes he can hurt you to report it It does more damage to his name than your as I will never do business with his company under any circumstance So I think you made the right decision to not give in to his threats because there’s no guarantee (as you mentioned) that he wouldn’t have attempted to smear you regardless To receive packages of products that you review on your channel a private mailbox maybe a good idea so companies don’t have your home address etc. It costs, but may provide some extra peace of mind Appreciate your hard work as always.
