Thanks for the MG love guys, really enjoying the car so far!

The last handful of Rovers and MGs were truly wonderful cars. It's an absolute tragedy no one stepped in to save them after all the damage BMW and Phoenix did. That V6 is one of the best sounding six cylinder engines ever made, also one or the strongest units I've ever encountered. My Grandfather bought a 75 brand new in 1998 and it was slowly passed around every family member up until 2016 where it was sold to a breaker with 327k miles on the clock. Glad to see someone in the drivetribe crew has some love for MG Rover, the trio always flip flopped on them a bit when they really needed to be praised.

Lot of the car for the money, I've had a Rover 75 2.0 V6 since new, it's never missed a beat. I also had my late father's 2.0 V6 as well. Just watch the cambelts and cooling fans

If it's the V6 MG ZT-T, then you either have a 160BHP car, or a 190BHP car in manual form, or 180BHP if it's automatic. I suspect yours is 160BHP, as you should have a 190 badge on the tailgate if it's the higher power version. As yours is pretty low mileage it's well worth tidying up. These things are finally going up in price and it will be money well spent. The car should be rock-solid to drive; any vagueness in the steering will likely be track control arms and bushes, or track rod ends, and/or anti-roll bar bushes. If the car doesn't have any history for the cam belts, then get them changed ASAP.

I do have a soft spot for the last Rovers they made. BRG looks sweet, if it was mine I'd go for metallic black wheels and would blacken the roof bars for the stealthy look.

I love these. I truly truly love them. My taste would be for an early top-spec Rover rather than the MG, but that’s my old man showing through my 21-year-old facade 😅 The 75/ZT was always considered a good car and the KV6 was second only in sonority to the Busso. They’re a hidden gem that’s beginning to surface as the stigma of old men that smell of urine weakens. Taking away all the social elements, a group of Italian design houses named the 75 ‘the most beautiful car in the world’ in 1999, and I don’t think they were far off. I think the Alfa 156 was prettier, but the 75 is just a very handsome beast and managed to hit the ‘retro styling’ theme right on the head just as it was taking off. Compared to the Jag S-Type, New Beetle, MINI (also Rover, I must add), etc. the 75 isn’t held to any previous standard. It’s not a facsimile of yesteryear, it’s just a nod to past Rovers and their elegance. On reflection, Rover’s engineers nailed this one, even if the buying public wanted something completely different.

I had a Volvo V90 for the longest time - stock White because they couldn’t sell it and I got for cheap as hell. Everyone called me a soccer mom, but my 5 member jazz band could load the boot with all of our equipment and ride in comfort to gigs, and I drove that thing until the wheels basically fell off - 14 years and 480,000 miles. Idk like to see a comparison down the airstrip empty, and then again but loaded down with every piece of recording equipment you have.

Excellent motors and possibly one of the last generation of cars before on board computers got too much of a strangle hold so home DIY’ing is still pretty straight forward on these. It is of an age, so I’m sure there is bits and pieces needing done on it that could be shown in videos or just a generally detail and alloy refurb to freshen up the exterior? Have the saloon myself and have been working on it and so far it has been great, rear upper arms, fuel tank strap and headlamp level sensors for example, common issues but surprisingly easy to do 👍

How cool! I always liked station wagons (as we call them in Canada) - more fuel efficient than SUVs, and still have plenty of cargo room. I was surprised to see the MG badge - I had thought they stopped making cars decades ago (or... I guess more like stopped exporting them to North America, so haven't seen them here at all). Very cool.

@SpitfireFortyFour3 жыл бұрын
Because they KV6 and K18Turbo are the best two engines for the ZT by a long shot. That bimmer tractor engine is a headache to work on in the Rover engine bay and parts costs a fortune in comparison when it inevitably breaks. EDIT: The V8 is also amazing but as said in the video expensive to buy.
@edwardwestby7113 жыл бұрын
Costs a fortune to get parts, sounds like a tractor, and is horrendously difficult to work on. Even harder than the V6. The KV6 is second only in sound to the Busso and it’s bulletproof. You can’t turn that down.

Actually they weren't a bad car, LG53WSU, 2010 FAILED MOT BECAUSE NOT ENOUGH WATER IN WINDOWSCREEN WASHER container, It was just low but to fail an mot over that is crazy and shows how some mot garages want to charge you for remot or re mot part charge, stay clear of that garage lol, Then in 2007 it failed mot because 1 rear stop wasn't working, probably same mot garage, Most mot garages will put a stop lamp bulb in , Its why you can take a vehicle to 20 mot stations and get completely different results pass or fails, , supposed to be mot guidelines lol, Example, peugeot speedfight scooter 50cc, pilot light has to light up in 1.9 secs , if not an mot failure, Some have pilot lights some don't from manufacturer, just completely remove pilot light and no longer an mot issue, I love watching the videos, You could have bought my HONDA INTEGRA TYPE R DC2 fully professional rebuild engine turbo upgrade, Had the car since 2003 its a 2000 year , and last 7 years its been put in my garage all covered and warm lol, That car has been to Silverstone f1 ,Donington, Snetterton, I just lost interest like you do , Keep up the good work 👏

Some BMW electrical components and a couple of other bits. But otherwise it’s all Rover.
@MrVinylista3 жыл бұрын
It shares a platform, plus front and rear suspension, gearbox, electrics, HVAC, etc., with the BMW E46, but the engine is 100% Rover. BMW is rear wheel drive, MG is front. I have an MG ZT 190 and a BMW E46 320i, and despite being on the same platform, they're quite different to drive. In many respects the MG is better.
@edwardwestby7113 жыл бұрын
@@MrVinylista They aren’t the same platform. The rear suspension of the 75 is Z-axle based but there are almost no shared components. They’re so very different. Also, the 75 existed before the E46 and Rover engineers had zero access to that project anyway. The only thing Rover were offered along with the electronics and Z-axle tech was the floor pan for the E34, which they turned down and designed their own.
