Olly you may want to go ahead and try to get 4 new tires for the gator if you get it. The tires are crazy expensive.

We have had two at work, things you should know. The first one kept over heating and aventually had to be pressure tested , next is the amount of mud it collects we spend a lot of time cleaning it and with the wheels being wider than the body it splatters every wear and if you yous a power washer on it the door seals can not cope and you end up with a wet cab. Also underneath there’s a awful lot of unprecedented wires that are constantly been blathered in mud and water. The drive takes getting used to and not for the faint hearted at a bizzie junction . If it was down to me I would look at kubota we had a old second hand one and it did every thing I asked it to, a much more responsive drive and cleaner. Don’t get me wrong I do like John Deere’s but their dose appear to be a lack of design in the finer points of what these machines are meant to do . They may look good but do try other makes before making that final decision.

I think these are very good machines. The one you’re looking at does need new front tyres and a service to check that everything is ok on it particularly the tracking as the front tyres look unevenly worn so there may be some wear in the suspension as it’s been a hire machine. It could also do with the LED working lights on the front and back of the cab as you can then use it at night and also some warning lights so you can use it for escorting large machines at night during harvest. As you say there may be some negotiation needed. They also do front and rear tow hitches which could be very useful on your farm? I’ll look forward to seeing what you can persuade the dealer to do for you. I think it’s up for sale with Ben Burgess.

I’ve have a 865m with roughly 750hrs on it that has its bed maxed out on weight and tracks on so gets some hammer and it hasn’t had a spanner on it yet! There expensive but a lot heavier duty than every other buggy on the market!

I would go for something with open cab . As they don’t get as dirty interior. The cabs are good if you stay in them for long periods of time but when your getting in and out it’s a pain having the big doors. I would also look at a Kubota . They make a petrol version “sidekick” and a diesel one as well.
