I really hope you all make to see the last 2 minutes of this video. I really wanted to better explain my recent behavior. Why I have been more stressed, frantic and stupid lately, rather than just happy, goofy and stupid person that I normally am. This house stuff has really been a mess, but there's light at the end of the tunnel.

I think it's safe to say that the majority of Hoovie's audience came from the relatability and the hoopties and all those earlier videos and now we just have to see him video after video pretending to be surprised or blown away but what he spent on exorbitant stuff. He's even putting less and less effort into making his fake flustered/worried reactions look convincing. You definitely hit the nail on the head here... or I guess rather Tavarish did. I'm an appraiser and I do a lot of rural and island properties and see people over-improve all the time. Sometimes it's not an over-improvement but the cost to build is so high right now that it can't be avoided. Many are upset that their home is worth less than what they put into it but there is a difference between what it costs to renovate versus what the market will pay. Having said that, you did a beautiful job on that property and you will enjoy it for years to come and that is what matters. You will also break even in terms of it's worth in time so just enjoy it.

This. I’ve seen beautiful houses for sale in a quiet area of the UK for £2 million to £3 million. But nobody, absolutely nobody in that area makes that kind of money. I’ve no idea who they’re expecting to sell the property to? Contractors are the worst. We had some water damage from a bidet that was accidentally bumped on and leaked overnight. Next morning, we discovered about an inch of standing water in the bathroom. Wet drywall/floors/baseboards in all adjacent rooms. Inspectors came out, said the house needed 50k worth of repairs. Insurance covered it, and this has been the most aggravating experience I have ever been through. Had a company come out and put a bunch of fans up to dry out the remaining moisture for a couple days. Not only do the contractors show up whenever the fuck they feel, the amount of work that has been done is surprisingly low considering the cost. We had to get new floors (went from actual hardwoods to vinyl bullshit) they didn’t want to replace the baseboards everywhere so we had to have quarter round added on to take up the space, they told us to pack up the entire kitchen because they needed to remove the cabinets to repair behind them, we obliged…3 months later and apparently there was miscommunication somewhere and that was not necessary. So basically in the past 3 months we have used a kitchen out of boxes, new lower quality floors installed, a couple baseboards replaced and some paint. That is it. I’m not sure where 50k in damage was but this sure as fuck was not it. Totally over the whole situation and I’m just disgusted in the whole process, insurance and contractors. It’s all a big scam money grab.

100% this. They do MINIMAL work to drag out the work and it will prob be 100k bill to insurance when all is said and done. They are scum. I went to Home Depot and paid about $1k for all new ones and did it myself…how the hell they got to “cabinets alone are 10k alone” shows they are scum

Well, you got screwed by the insurance company then. Generally, for water damage, they are requred to replace in kind exactly what was there. You should have not had to downgrade anything. Now the contractor problems, I can't speak to that. Unless you get the best rated on Yelp or whatever, you are gambling. And you have to write into the contract when the completion date is. You should have hired an attorney to scare the insurance company into compliance if possible. I jsut did an appraisal for someone who's pipes burst on the 2nd floor of a vacation home, so the whole place flooded. The insturance wanted to pay $20,000. The damage to the structure was over $168K.

I worked in the insurance game and I quit after a year and a half due to the total scam that it is. I was a job superintendent and my company hated that I would sit with a customer like you and say you have x amount of money to rebuild and instead of doing what my company wanted which is build it back with the cheapest of materials possible take as long as possible so they could bill the hours and make as much profit as possible. Where I would say hey there's money to put better carpet or cabinets hell we got everything torn apart we can move that wall here and close those stairs there all while getting the client a better than before loss product and making the company plenty of money. I couldn't sit and look good people in the eye and screw them over make life miserable for months on end and be able to sleep At night. When I started as a grunt cleaning up after a flood or fire whatever the owner of the business was a good honest man but a month after being promoted to super his son took over and drove a reputable business into the ground. He would have our crews work on his personal house and bill the labor and materials to jobs we were working on and I couldn't do it anymore. I thankfully left the company before they were investigated by the Washington state insurance people and sued by multiple home owners and insurance companies for fraud. There are good companies but people pray on homeowners and get them to sign a contract in a super stressful time after a flood fire whatever and they promise to get it back together in no time and it's a lie

Bro your great at picking houses, that is a beautiful piece of property. Renovations always cost more than expected as you don't know what you have until you actually open the walls up. Then your dealing with however many years of fixes and repairs that may or may not have been done right, and just wear and tear from however many years it has existed. Then add on top of that whatever song and dance the local inspectors want you to do, and what of the many new codes they decide you need to upgrade to. Don't forget your permits.
