I’m trying to decide on buying between a MacBook Air and MacBook Pro (the M1 architecture) which one is best suited for ML. Which specs are the most important if you want to be future proof in the field
@mrdbourke3 жыл бұрын
currently writing this on a MacBook Air, it's great. You can write ML code on any laptop, however, it's probably not wise to train large deep learning models on any MacBook. M1 architecture is still fairly new so there will probably be some time before it's fully integrated with many ML frameworks. Though TensorFlow seems to be coming across: blog.tensorflow.org/2020/11/accelerating-tensorflow-performance-on-mac.html I've ordered a MacBook Pro with M1 and am going to test them for ML tasks. The setup I currently run: write code on MacBook Pro (16-inch), execute it on Google Colab/Google Cloud for GPU (deep learning models).

Hi Daniel, if am preparing for FAANG for machine learning engineer , data scientist or applied scientist positions then what is the process I can follow : Currently working on machine learning roadmap 2020 (share by you), the question is either I can start system design first or data structures first else what percentage of coverage I can go for, because i have to cover a lot in machine learning side . Note: I have planned to prepare for 6 months from now! Please advise me on this. Request: Please add this topic in your upcoming video , hope it will be useful to all.
@mrdbourke3 жыл бұрын
Hey Prem, I’ve never been a machine learning engineer at FAANG so I’m probably not the best person to answer this question. I’d research some of their machine learning engineer job roles and see what they list as requirements, then get in contact with people who work in those roles to see what it’s like.

Yo! Glad you enjoyed the video. I personally found online courses to be best for beginners but once you've got some experience, you start turning more to books/documentation. I always recommend trying something and if it works for you, use it, if not, move on.

Hello Daniel, I am a high school math teacher that has recently (within the past 2 and a half months) become interested in Machine Learning. I have been working on learning Python and the various libraries that are necessary for ML, big thanks to you for giving me a guide to follow! I am interested on using Machine Learning to create personalized education. Are there any resources you could recommend to help me specialize on machine learning for education? Are there also any contacts you could give me for people/companies who are interested in the is topic? Thanks so much!
@mrdbourke3 жыл бұрын
Hey Rachel! That's so exciting. My favourite ML products/creations are seeing someone with a background in something else coming to the ML field and figuring out how ML can help their field! As for education, I'd checkout Korbit, it looks like they use a form of machine learning to help people learning data science, may be worth getting in touch with someone there? www.korbit.ai/ Otherwise, I'd keep going the way you're going, one of the challenges of ML is being able to formulate the problem you're trying to solve (and whether or not ML is the right tool). So I'd have a think about the problems you face most often in the education space and start to try and formulate them in terms of an ML problem.
@rachelbartley65403 жыл бұрын
@@mrdbourke Thank you! I was checking out Korbit.ai today and it looks very intriguing. Also just bought my own: Hands on Machine Learning book and am excited to start working through it!

Also, one more question, after going through the State of AI Report 2020, would you recommend learning Pytorch or Tensorflow? Or both?

One of my favourite books ever, I read some of it this morning
@mrdbourke3 жыл бұрын
Both are phenomenal. I have more experience with TensorFlow though. You can do basically the same thing in both frameworks. If you’ve got hands on ML, it’s pure TensorFlow so I’d stick with that. However, PyTorch books/resources are also a plenty. Best to choose one and stick with it, if you get good at it, bridging to the other won’t be too difficult.
