I see what you're doing, Brad! You've added unique shorts and unique short videos IN ADDITION to your normal weekly long form live streams. I like it! But, you are a very busy boy. Prayers for this ministry, everyone.

The defining characteristic is the absolute authority of leadership. If you are not allowed to question the leaders, you are in a cult.

Sounds like “Church leaders.”

Funny I should come across this. I just watched a video about Little Light Studios being part of the "SDA Cult" 🤦🏼♀️ lol guess I'm in that cult too🤣

Cult is simply shorthand for "A religion that I happen to dislike."

@David_Brinkerhoff93. That’s usually what people mean when they use the term

Brad, you said: “Originally, this idea came from the word culture which was just a generic term that meant ‘a group of people doing something’.” I understand that you gave loose explanation. The Latin word cultura (culture) doesn’t mean that A GROUP of people is doing something. Originally it meant ‘the act of tilling and preparing the earth for crops ; cultivation; husbanding’. Tilling of ground can be done by a single man! The word cultura is derived from the verb colo ‘to husband, to till the ground’. Not any act of doing something was signified by this root (-cult-), but specifically tilling the ground. Cultus (cult) is a synonim of the word cultura. Tropically (figuratively) this root signified ‘care, cultivation’. For example, the phrase ‘cultura animi philosophia est’ - philosophy is cultivation of the soul. The soul also may be cared by a single man. [In the Latin Bible in 1Peter 3:3 there is a phrase ‘vestimentorum cultus’ (cult of clothes)- ‘the care of clothe’] This is a good sense of the root. In this sense any care of something can be described as cult or culture. But you touched another meaning of the verb colo - ‘to honor, to adore, to worship’. The phrase cultus deorum (cult of gods) means ‘worshiping gods’. [In the Latin Bible in 2Chron. 29:35 there is a phrase ‘et conpletus est cultus domus Domini’ (and the cult of the house of the Lord is complete) - ‘o the service of the house of the Lord was set in order’ (KJV)] From this sense which in itself has no bad nuance the bad sense of the English word cult is developed. You can not call worshiping the true God a cult in a bad sense because God does not suppress critical thinking. Cultus Dei (the cult of God) is a good thing in itself.

People created terms like this to describe something, just as psychiatrists conjured up terms to categorize things for medical convenience. The world ‘cult’ carries negative connotation but probably for good use to man, but it’s easy to misuse it and I misuse it too

I like these kind of short videos, easier to watch. Make the ones for 'aliens' in this manner where you summarize what has been happening in a similar fashion

Sect is a better description for what we consider to be cultish.

TRUTH AND LIFE Are not a cult. Jesus is THE TRUTH. Jesus is THE LIFE. JESUS IS THE WAY- The narrow path. And thats not appealing to the Cults of personality.

If you listen to how you described the Catholic "CULT" you would realize that is the same exact description of The Seventh-Day Adventist Church.😮 🤷🥺🧐

Yep, that is kind of my point, everything’s a cult by definition. But not the occult. Allllll are part of a cult in some way shape or form.

Between 1000-1200 AD the Catholic church used to perform forced baptisms on Jews and threatened to execute those who worshiped differently. I'm not SDA, but I'm certain they've never had a history like that. They're harmless, and in some ways pretty helpful. The history of the catholic church is soaked in the blood of innocent people. Don't care what they are like today, blood doesn't wash out.
@StrangeNormal9 ай бұрын
@@B-Blues yeah I totally agree with that, I’m not saying they’re the same thing. I’m just saying the definition itself technically should just mean something pretty passive but our culture today takes it to me something quite aggressive.

@StrangeNormal just as everyone is religious. Everyone has a belief system by which they live their life.
