Looks like great progress! We were wondering what you are doing for ventilation in the bath? I know you are posting a few weeks later than the videos but if you haven't blocked up those windows yet you might want to think about airflow and maybe keeping one? Loved the snail road rage 🤣
@LillaHusVanlife7 күн бұрын
@@Diane-NewNomads the bathroom has an extraction fan at the end for removing steam, etc..if we need to, we could either upgrade in the future or add a window as its just a mudbrick wall and shouldn't be too hard to sort. The windows are now removed, but after doing some cutting in there, I think we ought to have left some ventilation..maybe a future project.. 🤔 We live and learn 🤷🏻♂️ the windows were shot though, so they'd have had to be replaced. Great video guys. Used socket fusion 45 years ago for Polyethylene gas services in UK. It worked really well as long as the heaters did not get scratched allowing the plastic to stick to them. We cleaned the pipe and fittings with isopropyl. We had a tool for holding the pipe which was like a pair of mole grips with a steel socket welded on the grip part. This made sure the pipe went in the correct depth and stopped it collapsing. Good luck with your plumbing guys and all the best to you.👍👍👍

What a lot of work you both have done. Getting the basics in to be comfortable in winter is so smart. I can see your place as a gathering place, like a jamboree for van travellers. Certainly the room for a circle of wagons in the middle. Or at least one or two camping over and volunteering for you. Mad dogs and Englishmen...don't work so hard in the heat! I couldn't help but think a small window replacing a block in your walls to the street would allow a breeze to go through. Start a way to donate like buy a coffee, I suggest.

Thank you Sharon, it's good to see some of it progressing now.. 😉 Can't wait for the shower to be up and running..one day..lol 😂 We have people who want to come out and see us next year and hopefully we should have the basics set up for that..we don't mind roughing it at all, but it might be a stretch for some 😉 The videos are a little behind now, so the temperatures are a chunk lower, thankfully, but yes, I think you're right about the ventilation thing..unfortunately we're past installing one this year..we'll see if its necessary next year.. Someone else suggested setting up a buy me a coffee, recently..although I'm extremely flattered that viewers would like to help, I feel that I'm happy enough if they want to watch our progress.. Have you ever seen the ladies who sell big bags of huge snails in the towns? Were your electrics done by a Bulgarian and did you have an earth installed as well? All looks really good. Not sure how the Bulgarian plastic plumbing design compares to copper, but we've not had an issue with it in the past.
@LillaHusVanlife8 күн бұрын
No I don't think I've seen snails being sold at all..lol 🤷🏻♂️😂😂 Yeah we had ours done by a Bulgarian chap to incoming regs and added a thicker mains cable than was previously fitted, although I'm fairly sure there's no earth spike been added..he does really tidy work though..very impressed. The weirdest thing about the plastic welded joints is that if anything goes wrong with measurements or anything, then the full joint has to be cut and thrown..there's no un-melting the pieces and reusing them.. 🤔
@MrTon4eff7 күн бұрын
Although the UK standard with a separate ground is better, two-wire wiring (if done correctly) is safe enough. I'm not sure if 3 wire wiring is a mandatory requirement under modern EU standards...
@LillaHusVanlife7 күн бұрын
@@MrTon4eff I'm thinking it's not a requirement in the EU although I seem to recall being told that the two pin sockets actually have a place for an earth cable built in. 🤔 We figured we would be better off upgrading the system either way, purely as we use an air fryer, kettle, induction hob, etc..all high(ish) watts.. 🤷🏻♂️👍
@MrTon4eff7 күн бұрын
@@LillaHusVanlife The separate third wire -GND is better for safety, not higher wattage. There is a separate GND pin in the EU sockets, but requires 3 wire cable, which is of course more expensive... Including digging a hole for the local GND...
@zeoxbg8 күн бұрын
IMHO, you should've gotten a horizontal boiler and somehow fitted in that under roof space. Sure they are a bit more expensive than vertical ones, but the space you would've saved, would've been worth it. the one you got costs around 200-250 leva, a horizontal one would've benn 300-350 leva.
@NewBulgarians8 күн бұрын
We've always had upright boilers within the living space so we can keep an eye on any dodgy plumbing/leaks which seem to happen frequently there 😄
@LillaHusVanlife8 күн бұрын
I don't recall seeing a horizontal one to be fair, but we're okay with what we have..space isn't really a big issue considering we've managed to live in our van for over 2 and a half years and even the small house is a huge space compared.. Thank you tho 👍
