People are now complaining about showing records? LOL why are they watching the videos then? I LOVE watching the videos where people show rarities. It's just cool to see them out in the wild and hear the stories of how people got them, how they sound, how they look. I'm a nerd and really get my rocks off with that.

@@letstalkmetalI have a copy of that one, which came with a very basic lyric sheet that is not on Discogs. Perhaps I should add that goody to the database someday. I was truly astonished at the time to have come across that record in a small shop here. The 3rd ever Metal Blade release that is 40 years old and probably available in rather limited quantities! The world can be so small sometimes 😆

@@symbolic_acts_95 Very cool! I had a copy 20 years ago but I don't think it had an insert. It wasn't in great shape; I got it for a few bucks at a record show during the 90s. Sold it a long time ago when I downsized my vinyl and sold off a lot of things that weren't in nice condition.

I just picked up a first press (Megaforce) of Grave Digger's Heavy Metal Breakdown. Not for $15, unfortunately. There is a pentagram cover reissue of SATD. I have it, but they did a faux shelf wear thing that ruins it. But speaking of record show dealers willing to make deals, my last visit to one, I got Aragorn's "Black Ice" (in better shape than it had a right to be) and the dealer knocked 20% off because I bought a couple of other things from him.

It's interesting that people would be complaining about people showing off their music collections. I thoroughly enjoy seeing others collections, especially the rare and hard to find items. I collect strictly NWOBHM on CD as I just love the format and it's never been a better time with all of the reissues and anthologies out by labels such as High Roller and Obscure NWOBHM Releases. Plus it's way more affordable. Bottom line, it's a community not a competition. Love watching your vids Alan, as well as Aaron, Marty, Jurgen and so many others I have found through your channels.

I love physical music but its hard to beat the convenience of digital media. Any albums u want at the touch of a button when the mood hits you, and you don't have to go rooting for a particular album that you are in the mood for and usually can't find when it suddenly enters your head after a long time of not hearing it and u probably forgot it even existed until its mentioned on a channel like this or something.

For me those hard to find records are the main reason i watch these videos... i will never understand why people would prefer to keep watching more copies of Defenders of the Faith and Balls to the Wall... but im sure there are channels to watch if thats what they want so why the frustration??? Killer finds btw, two copies of Ion Britton EP available, this must have been a hell of a show haha
@letstalkmetal
@letstalkmetal 9 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yeah, couldn't believe I found an Ion Britton, then 5 minutes later found another one! And I agree re: rare stuff. One reason I decided to go ahead and start a channel was that I didn't see people showing a lot of old NWOBHM, FWOSHM, and early US metal singles, so I figured I could let people know about some records they might not otherwise get to see and hear. While rare, a lot of the stuff I show isn't very expensive. I also try to point out when anthologies or comps are available so people can get the music cheaper and on other formats than 7-inch singles.
@kostasmenace1459
@kostasmenace1459 9 ай бұрын
@@letstalkmetal Yeah, pretty good job too btw!!! Lots of those US singles were out of my radar. I believe its much more interresting to talk about records you put some effort in finding, what made you obsessive to hunt, how long it took to track down, how did you get a crazy deal or how you conciously over paid because you had to get it... Those records come with a story (that is often more interresting than the records themselves haha). These stories bring back memories, renew our interrest, share tips... Sometimes you remember how you got it or lost it, remembering how you passed and still regret it and so on. And when you see someone finding or already having a copy of a top want you can totally understand and share their excitement. How many people would join in and keep watching records they can see in every corner? So keep digging deep and ignore the whinning, cheers!!!

@@kostasmenace1459 Yes, the stories are often the fun part. I know some folks won't buy their collectibles online for that very reason- they want the tale of hunting it down to be more than "I bid on ebay".

I once had an LP arrive through the post with a couple of books The books had been placed on the record and the pile had been fastened together by the post office with multiple really tight, really thick elastic bands, causing the record to curve I’ve had several arrive that were supposedly NM or VG+ that were *trashed*. And I don’t mean a couple of dings. I mean just completely trashed. I prefer to buy in the wild or at shows now, for those kind of reasons, though I do use Discogs occasionally Nice scores

Two tan Metal Blade labels in one fell swoop!! Well done to the max. I just had a look at my copy of Metal Massacre II and I do indeed have that info sheet. For some reason I never bought anymore MM albums after that one. Excellent pick-up on Rust In Peace. I was one of those who bought it on compact disc back in the day. It came out just at the time that I had committed to CD's. I bought a 2008 Capitol re-issue a few years ago.
