Ty for the review of this tent, Luke. So maybe this commenter is correct in saying that this “2 Second” moniker is a bad take on a slang French saying. But let’s recap on what this tent is. This is a double wall, fabric (read Winter) tent with one Useable vent, not much mesh in site, (save for a section of the door), ultra dark interior, (for all of those vampires travelling or so your kids can shine a flashlight inside and not be seen by the parents outside), has weird doors that make me contort myself forward to open/close them so I can throw out my back, is stark white so I can be seen for miles in the summer, (and be Completely Unseen in a life threatening blizzard during the winter), is said to be for 3 people but it only accommodates 2, is a complicated set up, and an even Worse take down process taking minutes when the company writes (2 Seconds) all over this thing, AND it smells like Garbage. I KNOW why they call it the 2 Seconds tent!!! They call it the 2 Seconds tent because that is how long it will take you, after seeing and smelling it in person, to decide NOT TO BUY it !!!🤣😂👎🏻👎🏻

I'm french, the 2 second name originally comes from the first popup model they made, it is referring to the unfolding time, unclip throw it in the air and boom, a "2 second" no brainer tent, of course the full set up is longer. They market the unfolding concept here, I'm not sure about it but Decathlon may be the inventor of this popup system. The Fresh and black stuff is made to reduce the sun heat and light exposure during the day or for late morning sleep, festivals, party... That's not a tent to tie on a backpack for a hiking trip. The tent is not perfect, but one thing for sure, here the company is known and appreciated for making very good quality and affordable outdoor products, with a lot of efforts put in design and innovations, with excellent customer service. Every outdoor enthousiast have many Decathlon products, no one ever bashed them for trying to fool customers with fallacious names or communication

The small vent at the back is so you can reach through to that blue clip, then the string raises the entire back of the tent. Letting you vent the stink out and get that fresh air you've been missing. As others have mentioned this is mainly a festival tent, it is very sturdy with almost 0 guylines, it has a tiny footprint for the amount of space you get to sleep in. It's also the perfect size for a double mattress and a bag of clothes or 2 which is ideal for this scenario.

Thats just a festival tent. We set them up in seconds. Just throw it sowhere and it opens and than put a pallet beer (24x0,5l) in to fix it on the ground. So you don't need pegs 😂 It's just cheep festival gear for us Europeans and for this usecase its perfect 😂 I don't take my ultra light tent to a metalcore festival camping area 😂

You really missed the ball on this review Luke, this tent is made for festivals, so yes people do sleep in it when it's light outside, same with the size, teenagers don't care if they don't have a lot of space. It's just cheap, dark and easy to use. Sorry Luke but you should do this review again but with this in mind.

I’m not sure why you’re harping on the 2 seconds. If they changed the name and put mesh on the outer windows, it would get rid of most of your issues. I would use that tent in late fall early spring and winter. Most 3 person tents are usually best for 2 people plus gear. That shouldn’t come as a surprise to you. I value your opinion but on this tent it does feel like you have some agenda. I can’t explain your extreme response otherwise. Take care

These tents are famous and popular for festivals and events in Germany. I had a normal one without the "black" and it was okay for festival. I ordered the 4 person tent and we slept only with 2 persons and had plenty of space. I remember this version had more mesh and was better ventilated. I liked the fact that it was cheap, durable and never get wet inside. It still exists and is in use by the my nephew after 10 years. I gifted it for camping experience in the backyard of my sistsers house 👍 Most annoying thing about this tent is packing size for transportation. In germany our cars arent as big as in the US. 😃

I've been camping in tents for 40 years from Vango Force 10s to bivvy bags. I've used various versions of these Decathlon tents over the past 14 years, mainly on the patio of my parent's pool (very nice too) for me and my kids. Its usually mid summer, in Spain, 25-30C at night, and the vented version actually does work. No option to peg out so like festival users I'd just throw it up and bung gear inside. Seconds....Fabulous! The smell, no idea, maybe the black out version? Any events I drive too, non backpacking, these are my choice tents! If you have kids and only have seconds free to put up a tent, a great option!

I have one of these and really dig it! I used it in cooler climates around Scotland so maybe that is what made it nice to stay in? The blackout feature is the best and the reason I bought it. Not for afternoon naps but for sleeping soundly until 7 or 8 in the morning. Wake up when you want, not when the sun rises.

Blackout tents are a gamechanger to me, I can comfortably sleep in without getting woken up by the sun. Also there's studies that show how your sleep is significantly deeper in a dark environment, even small light sources can make a difference. I feel way too exposed in a common tent.

This is a festival tent, and two seconds is not the time to erect it 😂. It is double walled because festivals are mud baths. Ever seen Glasto on TV? Essentially a rave in a field. The two seconds is a poor translation from the French. A bit like "alors" or d'accord". More a figure of speech. The tent is blacked out because we will be recovering during the day. At a festival there will be 4 teenagers in there. It is designed for colder weather because.... northern Europe. This review has made my day - so funny. A real example of a cultural misunderstanding. The only thing I agree about is folding the bloody things. I keep editing as the review continues. The small zip is for electric hookup entry. The bigger zips are for vents. You need to pull the sides up more. If you want to test it, come to the Orkneys. I am here now on the Point of Ness. Bit breezy. Using my pop up Quechua as an awning on the side of my vintage tiny caravan. Brilliant tent. Being buffeted, but all is good. This is the best review of a European tent ever.

Also, there's a red tab (you can see it at 6:30) if you grab that and walk out the door the thing folds itself into a circle instantly, then you do your red/yellow clips you saw in the setup, pull the draw tab and it folds it into a figure 8, you can fit it in the bag after folding it in half from here. It's designed so you don't need strength to wrestle it into the bag, so kids/3 day festival bingers can do it.

I really like the blackout feature when I'm up in the north of Sweden fishing. It's often light during the night there. I have the other version of that one where you pull strings to fold it up for around 5 years now. I have done many camps in it and it's so nice. The worst part for me is the weight though.

Luke. I love that you took the time to review this. I think however it works for us in Europe (it is a French design after all), as we don’t have the hot stuffy climate others have. (Well not in the UK anyway). I own one for those quick impromptu camps. One night away etc. it works. It’s fine. It’s as warm or as cool as I need. It’s not a mountain tent and it’s utter crap in the stiff wind. But it works fine. (I have the 3 person xl) it’s great for the two of us Anyway. Good work love you channel. Regards.

I have a "Fresh and black" tent and it oddly enough has the side effect of keeping heat in. It's like your entire tent is covered in a space blanket, which is quite the benefit in the late fall or early winter.

0:12 I bought in the early 2000nds , a Quechua 2 second 2 person tent. It had loads of room with plenty of storage pockets and hanging loops. It popped into shape in 2 seconds and could be used without pegging down. It came with an inner, which you could fully remove, and an excellent well roomy vestibule, the ground sheet also covered the vestibule area , which could be detached and rolled back. When pop up tents became popular in the UK, the majority were single skin. So I was absolutely amazed to find this tent. The tent had plenty of mesh, so was well ventilated. My mate bought one as well and tested them in some real bad weather. Strong winds and plenty of rain. Had no problems with them at all. We were well impressed. It finally gave up the ghost a few years ago. Pretty good going for £50 tent. They did provide a tent with pop up side vents to 0:13 o. 24:00

Come on Luke! You dont understand the use of the back of the tent! The blue line does rise the back wall all the way up! The "useless zipper" is for your hand to reach out from inside the tent, and to undo the clip, that holds the back wall down! Just release it, and the whole back wall can be raised! And this is only on very hot climate.. By the way, the double wall is the best feature on this tent, becauae its the only tent that doest drip on me from condensation. All my friends with single wall tents, even the very expensive roof tents, have condensation, when i wake up fresh and dry in the morning. Also, why only with this tent, you dont use a sheet under??

Best festival tent by far! The blackout is a must when roughing it in a festival! Bright lights everywhere, the blackout keeps things nice and dark to help you to sleep! And keeps you cool when it’s roasting, the version I have has mesh in the lining and a porch. Pockets a plenty and plenty of room for all your fezzi gear

Watched quit some of your video's, but totaly don't understand this review. Sometimes your reviews are foremost negative. We own this tent (actually replaced the old one and bought the same again) and we love it! We spent summers in France (hot) en did wintercamping here in The Netherlands (freezing cold conditions). We had no issues or little issues with condensation (sleeping with 2 people in the 2 people version). Even our kids can setup this tent within minutes. And we love the Fresh and Black for it stays fairly dark inside. To be honest what came to my mind watching this video was that you have some 2nd agenda, sorry...! There are way better tents, sure. But for this money, it is doing great.

These kinds of tents are not for backpacking; they are too cumbersome and too heavy. It's more like a festival tent. The blackout feature is helpful when on camping grounds where the lights are kept on all night so people can find the bathrooms, which is very common in Europe. It is also beneficial when camping high up in the north, where, in Summer, the sun doesn't set. Well, and some people like a midday nap, especially during festivals lasting several days. The lack of ventilation and no bug net are big problems, though.

I've had good luck with this Decathlon tent. I have used it for desert camping in the winter. The black out feature is excellent for full moon nights, to block out the bright light that can keep me awake all night, having no trees overhead. Mine didn't have any weird smell. You completely missed the ventilation feature in the back of the tent. The small zipper at the bottom is so you can reach through and unclasp the connector and pull the cord down all the way to get ventilation through the tent. To me it's fatal flaw turned out to be the outer front door zipper. I sleep in dry washes and the zipper got destroyed from getting grit from the wash in between the zipper teeth at the bottom. I'm pretty positive the side vents are mesh on the one I have.

Exactly, hence bug issues not really mattering, it being dark to sleep in the day mattering, ventilation is a valid point, but a lot of cheap European tents are designed for 10-20 degree oC weather. The key thing is being reletively cheap, and of course waterproof, which it is, no one is backpacking with this for instance it is the wrong shape. In regard to it not being a 3 person tent, no European tent is designed for the number of people it says, you always buy one size larger. A 3 person tent literally means 3 people laying down nose to tail, no moving, no bags, no anything you can physically fit 3 people in and not physically have to lie on each other. If you want a comfortable 2 person situation you buy a 3 person tent, if you want a comfortable 3 person situation...buy two 2 person tents so you have space in one of them for bags.

The "fresh and black" is unique to Decathlon tents and it's nothing more than a mylar liner on the rain fly. AFAIK there is no other company that uses it -- I personally like it because I want to be able to sleep in pitch black darkness. Other tents will let some degree of light through, even at night.

The Fresh and Black tents are very good in UK summertime when it gets bright outside at 4.30am. They also stay a bit cooler in the sun compared to other tents. The technology is quite good imo, although I agree with your view that this particular model is a quite poor design.

I would totally recommend this tent, used it in a tropical environment, lots of sun one second, downpour the next. In my experience, this tent is near bomb proof, but not having a net does make it stuffy inside if I dont want bugs to join me in the tent. There is an updated version that seemed to have addressed this issue, but I will keep mine

I've had an older version of this (2 seconds air) for almost a decade and used it for 20+ festivals. This thing survived everything: Torrential rain, hailstorms, mudbaths, drunk people falling into it... I'm not sure any fancy 1000€+ outdoor tent could survive that much abuse. Yes, it's not suitable for hiking trips or outdoor adventures. But for festivals or casual camping? I'd want nothing else.

I have to echo this. My 2 second pop tent took me through 2 tropical storms while crewing large larp events without ever a. Drop of water getting inside. This is not a backpacking product but as a car camping tent for festivals it was excellent and is still my recommendation.

Dark room, or light blocking coatings are big with people who go to music festivals. Often staying up late for multiple days and being able to stay asleep longer can make or break the weekend for some. The other way of achieving this is a sleeping mask, but some people have issues with those.

Your first review that you are absolutely clueless Xd. Those tents are among most popular in Europe. I had several models for many years. Older version indeed opened in two seconds. Packing it up was complicated so along the years they added a lot of features to help out with that. Those are the straps that prolong the opening time;)

These tents are used and praised for a long time in Europe and lots of people are enjoying them for what they are : a reliable, easy to setup ( hard to fold back) camping ground/festival tent. Not for what we call "bivouac" ( an overnighter in nature). Decathlon is a serious brand, even if it is not hi end.

I bought the Night Cat 3 person tent and it comes seam taped and it actually pops open in 2 seconds. That does not include the time it takes to stake it down obviously. It isn’t the most water proof thing in the world but I would love for you to review it. We have spent some time in it as a rain shelter on picnics and just spent the weekend in the sierras camping in it. I mean the thing is so cheap it feels like there must be some kind of needful things handshake situation going on. It opens on both sides so you can vent it all the way through and has some pretty decent windows as well. I mean…. I love this tent. We did bring our big Agnes MTN Glo 3 with us in case this turned out to be the worst as we have been through some serious, and I mean serious/ terrifying, weather in it but we didn’t end up having any issues. Also. Did I meantion how huge the Night Cat is? We had an Exped Megamat lite and an Exped Ultra 7R LXW in there with all of our bags and gear and we still could have easily fit our Nemo tensor. Maybe even more. The thing is bonkers

Yes, test it in winter. The smell reflects the odor of the facility in which is was manufactured. I have done some private label contracting for specific garments with manufacturers in China and Malaysia. Product can come in smelling like body odor, garbage, smelling like some version of smoke, etc. - especially if the product is prepackaged in plastic before shipping.

I've had mine for over 8 years and is one of my favourites for touring/road trips, especially when I have to set up in the rain, when the ground is rock hard or when the temperatures are close to or over 40°C (I'm in Australia). It's held up well in wind gust of 70km/h even when the ground was too hard to stake down. I’ve also camped in below freezing temperatures and was cosy and dry. The only things I don't like about it is that it's such an awkward bulky pack size and the little porch/awning is useless when you're going in and out of the tent multiple times in wet weather.

Now I just purchased a new tent. It’s not a pop up but I’m hoping it’s an upgrade from my kelty. I’ve been watching your gear reviews for years and you may have already checked out the Marmot Catalyst 2-Person Tent . Pros and cons? I did set it up and figured out if my sleep system works with it. It all worked but I have a feeling it may be stuffy with the rain fly but I also live in central Oregon where the temps drop significantly at night. I enjoy all of your content brother. Lol, my Decathlon tent beats your 2 seconds! My one says "instant! It uses two umbrella type pull tabs, but it's still far from instant! Still love the tent! Very waterproof and blackout really helps with heat control on warm summer days as well as low light penetration

See, you're reading it wrong, it's a 2 Second Pop Up tent, it pops up in two seconds.That doesn't mean the whole set up takes two seconds. You want an example? I remember sitting at a cliff top campsite watching a young French couple on what was clearly their first camping trip away together. She sat, slightly unconvinced in the open hatch of their Renault Clio, while he rather flamboyantly pulled it out of its bag, and with the most casual of Gallic shrugs tossed it into the air. She whooped in surprise at the miracle of their weekend home unfurling in a matter of seconds (probably two to be more precise). But that whoop of surprise quickly (within a second) turned to a cry of alarm. You see, at that very second that young man had cast his Two Second tent into the air, a gust of wind had blown up and caught it, lifting it high into the sky, before releasing it like an out of control base jumper over the edge of the cliff and into the waters of the Channel, or La Manche as the French are want to call it, below. In moments that young man's ideas of a romantic weekend in the arms of his young lover had gone, blown away like their Decathlon pop-up tent. A lot can happen in two seconds.

the two person tarp tent from Decathlon is the best tent Decathlon make. Trust me. Taken it all over the French alps and the Pyrenees, often in 40/50km winds and didn't budge. Amazing tent.

I’m all for you giving it a winter time trial. Would be interesting if it worked for that. The blackout inner reminds me of the UCP Improved Combat Shelter. I’m guessing this is targeting people who camp at festivals where lights are on all the time or for people who work in the daytime like fighting Forrest fires and need to rest during the day.

The small zip inside the tend has several uses, including: a hole to sweep out any dirt/grass; a hole to allow a power extension cable entry.

Best festival tent ever! Pops up unter 2 Seconds - rest will be fixed with beer crates inside. Ventilation? Who needs that when you go to bed at 3 a.m. completely drunk? Fresh and Black feature? Best when you wake up at 10am. Yes, I will continue to buy Decathlon tents, usually a new one for each festival.

Pretty slick method of staking open the windows...but yea, why would it not have bug netting. Actually, It looks like it would be a decent tent if the inner was mostly bug netting. I can imagine condensation being a real problem. I guess if you unclipped everything then chucked it into the air it would set up in a few seconds.....not staked down of course, but in an emergency you could just bail off into it without staking it out. I think you were a little overboard on the 2 second deal. Who really thinks any tent would set up in 2 seconds. It takes that long to get it out of the bag and prepare it to open. By the way, their sun shelter would make a great place for a generator to keep it out of the rain....just point the exhaust toward the opening, for course. At $25 how can you go wrong?

i have one of these and its great,.didnt get as hot as a normal tent as its black out, air flow was just fine and it was a really hot where i was camping, best thing about it tho is being black out you can sleep in......ZZZZZZZ Nice

Same person as last (?) comment, but that was from laptop and keyboard doesn't work, so I've had to use the one on screen. Anyway... you present yourself as an expert: what does this tent look to you? A military tent? Survival? Bushcraft? Serious camping tent? People in my country, for example, have the habit of going out on some days of he year. Plenty... spend the night there, including young people. Of those, a lot don't even have sleeping bags or mattresses - the warmth is good. The darkness... I saw it used as... lay down for 15 minutes, during the day, if no shadow around, with open door. Also... plenty of these people won't sleep in any tent if a rain starts: they'd go to the car, right by the tent or just pack up and leave. And it's ok for ventilation, with the outer fly opened, fully, everything= lifting the windows, on a very warm night. It can be slept in and I've seen it in very heavy storms of lots of winds and rain and it doesn't do as bad, for what it is. I saw plenty of people sleeping on a home brought duvet and with blankets and pillows from home, in it. This tent is for people that rarely sleep outside and that have all gear around the tent or in the car and that spend all day outside and, then, tired, just crash in it for a bit of sleep. Because of the structure, is not my favorite kind of tent, so I asked a lot of users about it and all seemed content.

Great video luke. I would recommend you review the new mt500 hiking tent from decathlon. Its about 150$ and looks very promising. Comes in two versions, one with full mesh and one with fabric. I think they are worth a look. Cheers

I have even cheaper tent from decathlon that also features this fresh n black thing and i have to say that it does make real difference in keeping the tent not only darker, but also noticeably cooler during the day. Also i noticed heat being a big issue in your reviews and having no idea how hot it gets in states, i can only say that not once i got hot during the night in any tent here in central europe.

Instead you should've checked out the Decathlon "2 Seconds Easy" (you pull the two ropes...) in 3 person size. It has two mesh windows, it packs much smaller and is really set up in a few seconds (doesn't need pegs during calm weather). It's probably the best overnighter tent on the market right now. I don't like the 2 seconds pop up tent from this video either, apart from its obvious design issues its simply too short for a 5'11" humanoid male, the "2 seconds easy" tent series are slightly longer due to more upright walls.

Got one in 2 person size, great with a big mattress (from decathlon) and still space for backpack. Used it also as a mid-day nap, and it was really dark inside. Mine has two side door It's definitely NOT a backpack tent, way too heavy. More of weekend tent for festivals, fishing trips and else. One con, the white color fabric is impossible to clean. Had a few spot to clean off after a weekend, hard scrubbing with a nylon brush didn't take off the stain.

@@TerrificFlow it's a overnighter tent with a very narrow use case. You arrive in the evening by car, set up tent, sleep and leave the next day. If you plan to stay for several days straight the few minutes time saved in setting up the tent becomes irrelevant and I'd rather use a totally different tent.

I think you have a old version. The new version has mesh "windows" and mesh ventilation points. And this is a festival tent designed for 15 / 20 Degrees celsius. Its pretty cleverly designed especially for the price.

Ok we can of course go really deep into the specs of it and yes it has flaws but for festivals it's just fine. Main issue I have with it is indeed ventilation without bugs entering. The best parts about it is the waterresistance and easy to setup.

"Two seconds" is obviously not meant to be taken literally, so I wouldn't call it a lie. I have a popup tent of similar size, and the setup time is similar though the Decathlon tent has more straps and buckles, and the fold up process seems much more involved. Your criticism of the inner is persuasive. I much prefer the single-layer design of my popup tent (Londtren brand), with a mesh inner layer only at the doors and windows. Though the outer size is similar, it's much more spacious on the inside. It's reasonably waterproof with the outer layer of the doors and windows zipped closed, but the outer layers don't zip all the way around, and the mesh layer reaches the ground, i.e. it doesn't have a bathtub floor. It's not ideal for heavy rain especially with rain pooling on the ground. I have Decathlon's Itiwit x500 inflatable kayak, and I love it, so I generally expect good products from the company. Popup tents seem to be an exception, but some of the comments say this tent isn't made for camping in the woods as much as it is for a festival with many, closely spaced tents in a field.

Gonna be honest, I generally see these tents being used at festivals or weekend campsites in fair weather, all where I seldom see any complaints. Some of your points are definitely valid, but I feel most people purchasing a tent like this aren’t avid outdoor-goers and so a lot of the ‘problems’ you pointed out in this video simply aren’t problems in their eyes. If you’re taking this tent out trekking and need to rely on a more state of the art tent then sure, it definitely won’t live up to the job. But for how the majority of people who buy this tent use it, it’s completely adequate. Also, I think the two second aspect is just a figure of speech, or at least that’s how it’s very much taken here in the UK. As for the black out, again, at festivals or after a heavy night, both where you’d sleep late the next morning, the feature is generally helpful.

3 people use it well. Also... the Fresh and Black works very well: it does keep cooler under it (just try a tarp) and it, mostly, keeps light from much going out when changing inside the tent at night. And, for serious... you show the mesh in images and say there isn't...

If I want a "festival tent" I'll spend $30 on a cheapo Coleman or some Chinese knockoff. I've bought a Big Agnes 2 person tent less than this one. It's been leak proof through monsoon storms.

When i was a kid it was very decent. Now that i'm a big guy it's a nightmare. I made the mistake to agree to take it to a week-end in the woods, let's just say your video hit the nail on every bad aspect of the tent. My sleeping bag was soaking wet after a night. It took me 3 days completly opened up to dry it completly. And don't even get me started with how in the hell do you carry this thing when you have a backpack already ?? All in all it was a mistake to bring it to do what i did. It really is just a raver's tent, pick it up from your car throw it on the ground and call it a day.

I hate it when manufacturers put mesh pockets in tents. If you want to add pockets, make them fabric and use the mesh to improve the ventilation!

I bought a Magellan proswift 3-person tent a year ago for $150 (now $80). I've used it during non-wind driven rain and have been pleased. I haven't tested it in anything more severe. Please do a test on this tent, if you get a chance

Lol. This, my friends, is my thoughts on this video. In other words, these are my comments, my impressions, my immediate criticism of this production ....I love Luke and the way he overstates things. The best one in this video is the "That is, of course, a negative...a con" line. But yeah, Of course the company isn't going to advertise its product as "A play tent best served for kids or people who attend festivals" (which is the first scenario I thought of when he mentioned the ease of being able to sleep during the day), but that's essentially what it is. That said, It's great that Luke exposes the features that just don't make sense and wouldn't be apparent until you actually got the product home - Like the vents not being mesh - Which, as a tent manufacturer, is a horrible thing to do. But I think that in terms of showstoppers, That's probably about it. I mean, does anyone buy a tent just because it only takes 2 seconds to put up? Isn't the set up part of the whole fun of camping? (Within reason, of course). As for using it in winter time....C'mon Luke. You're the king of condensation! I would not want to be inside that sauna during a winter camp. If it smells like a garbage bag the night before, I can't imagine what it would smell like the morning after! But yeah..An entertaining start to my week! Keep up the good work!
