I've Never Seen This Lake So Low - Kayak Fishing Canyon Lake

In this video, Bremen and I launch our kayaks at boat ramp number 23. This ramp is closed to conventional boats. Our goal was to head up river to target striper. Unfortunately the winds picked up and forced us off the water. Even though no striper were caught in this video, I was very pleased with my 1st catch on an A-rig

Dude thanks for sharing. What part of the lake would you recommend spear fishing for bluegill and or chilies?

Vegetation has really sky rocketed with the levels being so low. The north end where the Guad drains into canyon lake has a ton of grass and hydrilla

@chrismackay8314 Yeah, 23 headed towards ramp 11. Just know that almost every ramp at Canyon is closed so a kayak is your best bet.

nice! been going out of 23 a few times lately. crazy how low it is! probably gonna be low all summer again. Tried ramp 11 and its impossible

Was hoping we'd get the forecasted rain... but of course, we didn't. I was hoping the Guadalupe River about Canyon would be runnable again, but things aren't looking good.

Try ramp 17. We were over there July 3rd. I have a fish and ski and had no problems there. I wish it was still 92 as a high. More like 105 now.

I am a local at canyon lake I have caught some decent fish 7 pounder it’s been so hot lately it’s messed with the fishing
