Also, to the Duramax guys, the Allison transmission is awesome, but when you add a lot of power to them, they have the same problem as the 48 and 68 rfe transmissions from Chrysler, being they start slipping, and ultimately end up dying quickly.

I am very excited to see where you go with the build. I bought an 03 cummins in my second year of college. It was what started my love for diesels. Over the years iv broke the driveline a few times, upgraded, and broke more stuff. At this point its on full thuren suspension, smarty, very built trans and a few other little things. Id like to make that step of upgraded turbo or compounds and injectors and take it above what the 160 wheel hp tune can give. I love the smarty and id love to leave it but i understand bigger injectors and bigger turbo do not pair well with smarty. I can wait to see where this goes because it might pave the way for what i do with mine.

Sport Laramie bumper cover for the front color matched, color matched grille, color matched back bumper, head and tail lights, and some 22x12’s with 35’s. Performance I’d do head studs and a second gen turbo swap kit, injectors and lift pump with tuning from hp tuners. Depends on what you’re doing to the trans as for what power you add. But that’s my take on a nice 5.9 late model third gen.

Get newer style tow mirrors. Do a 4 in lift with 22x14 and the fury off road 33x14.5 tires. Get custom paint matched headlights and LED taillights. Window tint all the way around. And roll pan. Get a sport style front bumper that is paint matched. Paint match the grill. Get rid of the running boards LED lights on the exterior and interior. Upgrade the turbo. And the intercooler pipes. Banks ram air intake. Get a billet top plate to the engine have everything under the hood powder coated. Bigger injectors build the transmission. Get an airdog

Brandon Sellears the injectors are only an issue on the lb7 duramax’s and cummins arent the king, every Diesel engine has problems and as a diesel mechanic, cummins have some pretty serious problems them selves

I would recommend pro diesel werks for the trans and they can recommend you to a good tuner. I bought one of their shop trucks and love it. Innovative did the tuning with efi live. You’ll need a lift pump before anything though

Look nowhere else for the Cummins other than Firepunk. Lavon Miller is an absolute wizard with the Cummins powerplants. His truck has been dominating the diesel world the past few years. Also I know you got a race build going with the minimax, but this would be a perfect truck as well to go that direction. Drop it a bit, compound turbos, big fuel etc.

Honestly im a dodge guy and I’m also a Florida boy so id probaly lift it a few more inches, do wheels and tires, headlights taillights third breaklight, Rock lights, de chrome, tint the windows,beef up the truck anywhere needs be, maybe some light bars and then do trans mission stuff and engine mods, Maybe a sound system in the interior and that’s really about it. Whatever you end up doing it’s gonna look badass and maybe you can be in the Daytona truck meet crunch this year😂.

Ryan Milliken at Hardway Performance is one of the top Cummins tuners in the country. I run his EFI Live on my 2012 Cummins and it was night and day from stock to tuned. And his tunes are legit and don't "Roll Coal" therefore you can tell the truck is tuned correctly.

I have an H&S mini max on my truck that you can get for the 5.9 cause I used to own one. And although H&S has discontinued the manufacturing of there aftermarket parts you can still by the tuner online if you look up H&S mini max tuner you’ll see some in the shopping section on google. And there also not all that expensive they come at a very affordable price as I have put 2 on my last 2 truck. The 6.7L and 5.9L Cummins

btw if you reverse level one of these trucks like we have it makes it handle terribly. the ass end leans if you push into the turns or corners i am gonna move one plate to the top and put the overload back in and use drop shackles instead. i got my dream truck in October 04 Cummins you'll love this truck you got. and yes they sound amazing!
