I was a tattoo artist for 20 years but I wanted to quit for at least half of that. I was even a shop owner at one point. At this point though I havent tattooed for about 4 years and now I own a successful doll-making business and have no complaints.

what was the reason you wanted to quit?

@@EldritchCloak There were several reasons but it mainly came down to stress. It can just be incredibly stressful putting permanent marks on people, the pressure to for it to be perfect, the people in the industry being more combative (trying to each be the best) than supportive of each other, not to mention the damage it can do your hands and wrists over time. Either way, I'm much happier now.

I quit tatting because of the general public. Their lack of originality and thinking their ideas are unique, but I'm just inking the same generic design ideas or i'm trying to sway them from making bad choices they have to live with forever. At best, 20% of people have cool and unique ideas, so 80% of the time I'm a salesperson trying to convince people designs I'd have more fun creating and tattooing

Curious if you have insight on this - I really want more tattoos, but I know I almost always only have shitty ideas lol. How vague can I get with an idea and leave it up to the artist without being super annoying?

@@TheRaquelephant I have several tattoos amd my current artist loves my ideas:). I have a theme picked usually. I give general ideas (like I want a cat in a teacup. Tuxedo cat but colorful cup). I also tell her what I don't want so she can narrow it down. With that I give her a lot of creative freedom. I get beautiful little pieces and she always blows my mind with her design :)
