FYI: University of St. TOMAS (established in 1611)is not the olderst university but the University of Sn Carlos (Cebu City) in the year 1595. 16yrs earlier than the UST.

Brent, I really enjoyed this vlog. Throughout the entire video, I couldn't stop smiling. Flying Kell from Iceland was the first foreign KZbinr I follow to visit UST, and you were the second. He is as energetic as you are. He was here before COVID swept the globe. He went to UST, the University of the Philippines, and, if my memory serves me correctly, De Lasalle University and Ateneo University. They rank among the nation's top four colleges. Even the electronic ads of every Light Rail Transit vehicle included his vlog about these universities. However, you were the first to receive this level of support from the university staff. Thank you so much for visiting my alma mater UST ❤. Yes, it is indeed a very old but very prestigious Catholic University. My mother, aunts, uncles, cousins, my siblings and myself went to UST. I was batch 1987 at that time my course was called BS. Tourism, seeing your video it seems to have been renamed already. Typically many going into the field of Sciences and further to Medicine goes to UST or in the case of my mom she took Pharmacy, my sisters one went into Food Technology and the other into Nursing. There are 4 main gates going into the campus and you were mostly at the Espana gate. Called as such since it exits to Espana Blvd, and if you walk further down Espana Blvd, you would hit the University belt area where some of the other Manila universities are situated. In my time, I often use the Gov. Forbes exit since that was were I can easily take a bus ride going back home daily. It was very providential by the time I finished college, that was the time the public bus system going to my home city stopped. It is interesting to see in your video the many changes inside the premises of UST. In our time, those fastfood kiosks did not exist, so there were more open areas at that time. We just have to contend with the canteen in our colleges or the common cafeteria near the College of Medicine, or if one has time, explore eating outside the campus. And I do not remember seeing many tall bldgs in the immediate horizon, one only sees the immediate tall bldgs/colleges within the premises. It seems they have also made changes to their uniform style too. In our time, apart from the Colleges of Architecture & Fine Arts, and Mass Com, most female students would be wearing an all white uniform but each college has its own design. So one will know visually at least which College one comes from, and the 2nd way is to look at the color of the id's of the students. ID'S were color coded. The only other time we were not wearing our white uniforms was during those days we have PE, each year level tshirt color was color coded so one can visually identify who was a freshman etc. Again, thanks for your vlog..I am a proud Thomasian or Tomasino❤ I also grew up studying in a Catholic school environment, Under the Order of Benedictines and Augustinians for part of elementary and highschool and UST for College. Good to see they are teaching Arnis now in their PE class in UST...How I wish that was also part of our curriculum then.

The top 3 Catholic Tertiary Schools in Manila are: The University of Santo Tomas, The De LaSalle University & The Ateneo de Manila University. However, the only State University in Manila that many Filipinos would like to enter their college life is the University of the Philippines in Diliman because of its high standard of higher education, which is funded by the Philippine government. You better visit their campus too it is going to be interesting content being around the students who are mostly rich and elitist ( rich students ) as many locals say. However, there is one particular district in Manila called University Belt because of numerous private Catholic Schools. Some of them are: San Beda College in Mendiola, CEU Manila, San Sebastian College, Far Eastern University (FEU), and La Consolacion College. I am not sure of St. Jude College and College of the Holy Spirit are still existing at this moment. Sad I failed the exam in Engineering in that prestigious school of UST therefore I have a high respect for that school for having such a high standard for their students.

That old building was built in 1920s. The original building of UST established in 1611 was in Intramuros and it was destroyed during the battle of Manila in 1945. Yes, we lost our cultural and architectural heritage in 1945

UST is one of the best universities, my bos regularly donates to that school their alma mater, we have a UST chapter here in michigan USTMAA..and every year they hold conventions in Las Vegas, Florida, if there only people o can trust there to look out for my seniors, i will gladly send them there to finish their bachelors , sad thing is that all of our relatives are already here scattered all over US and Canada and Hawaii😞, on the lighter side, students in the philippines are the reason why filipinos excels all over the world in any type of work👍

If you're really inside Intramuros you could feel their elegant and lavish life in the Philippines in their time where UST was built first and transfered to España Blvd. You know we are still grateful to Spain with our street names from them. 😂 Sir Tim you can check our oldest all-steel church the San Sebastian church somewhere hidden the side in Recto Avenue before it's gone of decaying rusts. Maybe that church was so elegant too their time. The entire steel materials were shipped to the Philippines from Europe Can you imagine that hiw they really want to get hold of Philippines. That's what I read my history subject 😂😂

@BrentTimm yeah it's official name is UST Seminary Chuch coz its connected buildings around it are actually seminarians and priests rooms. That made UST the whole complete disciplinary university in the world, maybe. Only that it has no courses in agriculture but obvious the whole district gets flooded with waters in typhoon season. Harvard U has no seminary school 😂😂😂
