11:50 the colours of the Hanoverian teams are (and were): green-white-red (HSC), black-white-green (96) and green-white-green (Arminia). Since they all had green in their colours, aloof them wanted to play in green shirts. Being the oldest club, HSC were given the green shirts, 96 decided to play in red shirts and Arminia in blue. In former times there used to be a big rivalry between the Reds and the Blues. Fun fact: Hannover is the only city that had three teams in the 2. Bundesliga in one season (the third one was OSV).

I'm really excited about your plans to see my hometown club, Wuppertaler SV (short: WSV, the abbreviation is just as common as 'HSV' in Hamburg), at the Zoo! :D In case you want to explore every side of the stadium, I bet you will be impressed by the surroundings and, of course, the outside of the main stand. It's a listed building, Germany's Highbury East facade, so to say, haha. The inside of the stadium looks really quirky as each stading terrace and the main stand is representing a different era. The stadium has once been surrounded by a cycling track, something you can still guess as the shape of the standing terraces on the opposite of the main stand still seems a bit curved instead of the plain and simple standing terraces behind the goals just being finished in 2008 and the huge main stand. Its current capacity is about 21,000 to 23,000, depending on where you're looking at. I hope it's not going to be an away match for the boys in red and blue when it comes to the support...anyway, the attendance should most likely be higher than 10,000. WSV is probably having some of the worst times in the club's history right now just like MSV Duisburg, but in a lower division, of course. Obviously, the zebras are a much better supported club, having spent so much time in the top two tiers of German football for the past decades. I'd say they were an equal rival club of fellow Ruhrgebiet club Bochum for a very long time. What many people even in Germany, especially the very young ones, don't know is that Wuppertaler SV spent three years in the Bundesliga in the first half of the 70s. Before Kaiserslautern won the title in 1998 as a newly promoted team, WSV has been the best newly promoted Bundesliga club ever after they finished fourth in the 1972/73 season, thus qualified European football in the UEFA Cup. Unfortunately, in 2017, they were outdistanced by Leipzig's Red Bull franchise as well which finished second in their very first Bundesliga campaign. Since the late 70s and the early 80s, WSV spent most of its time in the 3rd or, for the last 14 years, even in the 4th tier...and in the 5th for three years. At least, they've still spent two years in the 2. Bundesliga from 1992 til 1994, this was the latest time Wuppertal has been part of the first two tiers of German football. Just like the club's colours, the shirts are red and / or blue, mostly vetically striped and similar to Crystal Palace (not this season, unfortunately but I'm having one of these :)) For me, this club is maybe what Hereford United (or Hereford F.C. now) and Man Utd together were meaning to Ry in the 90s, haha. It's the city where I grew up and the club I started to support when I was a kid. I never was a glory hunting kid, I always had a soft spot for the smaller clubs, proud to support my local team and despised those running around with a Dortmund shirt in the 90s, hehe. I would never really consider myself as a 'fan' of another club than Wuppertaler SV, even though if I have a soft spot for some clubs in comparison to others, of course. But there's a handful of English (or British) clubs that I like, Leeds probably being the biggest one of them. The biggest German club I have a soft spot for since the 90s is probably Schalke, so you might have an idea of what I'm going through in my life, haha. I hope you will be having fun in my good old hometown, Ry! Sadly, in Wuppertal you have to be prepared for very long queues at the entrance and for getting a Bratwurst or a drink...something not so exciting that has never changed in and around this stadium for decades or even a century. :D
@RysFootyParadise29 күн бұрын
thanks loads for this! I will screenshot your comment and use it as my guide next weekend 😅👍🏽
@ici_marmotte25 күн бұрын
@@RysFootyParadise Sorry Ry, but I have to correct myself when it comes to the attendance next Sunday. Wuppertal's attendances are getting very poor again now. Less than 2.500 last Saturday in a stadium of this size... This season's team is in a shockingly bad state, absolutely disastrous, despite some former Bundesliga players such as Marco Terrazzino. The gaffer got sacked recently and the club is now struggling not to get relegated to the 5th tier. As soon as promotion to the next higher tier is getting out of reach during the course of a season, the attendances are traditionally starting to get poor in Wuppertal due to so many years of disappointment and a disastrous management. MSV Duisburg will surely be supported by a few thousand away fans in Wuppertal. But remember, this is their very first campaign in the 4th tier of German football. Only the champion of each Regionalliga group can get promoted to the 3. Liga, so the 4th tier / Regionalliga is a bottleneck for so many fallen clubs who have failed to get back where they once came from so many times. Same with Alemannia Aachen, Rot-Weiss Essen before they were back at least in the 3. Liga, not to mention the Regionalliga Northeast packed with former DDR-Oberliga clubs from former East Germany. Here in the West, WSV hasn't even been part of the 3rd level of German football for more than 14 years now and it's even 30 years since the latest 2. Bundesliga campaign. Plus two bankrupcties, two enforced relegations...there's an extent of annoyance and suffering you just can't take anymore when you got fooled so many times for so many years. And as you've experienced yourself, there are so many Bundesliga clubs just around the corner in the West of Germany sadly making it so easy for people to turn their back on their local club. But please mind that Wuppertal has nothing to do with the Ruhr area (Ruhrgebiet) although it may be close geographically. The area east and southeast of Düsseldorf is called "Bergisches Land" and Wuppertal is its largest city. I guess there's still much more of an enthusiastic mood at Edgar Street right now, haha. WSV is still in a state of despair and destruction instead of a serious redevelopement and a positve attitude towards the future of the club. Sadly, I think the zebras could turn this into a home match when it comes to the atmosphere. It's really hard to predict an attendance figure for this match now as I did above (not so sure about 'most likely more than 10.000' anymore after Wuppertal's latest results). It could basically be anything between 5.000 or even a bit less and 10.000 or even a bit more. My score prediction is a 2-0 Duisburg away win, unfortunately. At least you're about to see a very unique stadium full of character and history. Have a good trip, mate :)

Even thou I would highly recommend the southwest area of Germany (Rhein-Main und Rhein-Neckar), the weekend around the 14th December might not be the best weekend for a hole tour since Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Kaiserslautern and Mannheim all have away games. But Kaiserslautern at least plays Darmstadt "am Bölle" Stadion. You could check out Mainz-Bayern, Karlsruhe and Freiburg. There are some smaler clubs as well some with tradition and history which might be worth to discover like Wormatia Worms and Stuttgarter Kickers. Or if you switch in directoon of Bavaria you could check out the smaler Clubs Ulm and Heidenheim (Ulm play a home game vs. HSV). Augsburg could be possible as well. Edith: Heidenheim plays Stuttgart which might be worth it since this can be considered as derby.

if you want a second league shock, go to SV Elversberg. But please consider, this place has less than 13K inhabitants. Another interesting visit might be 1860 München, a club that has a big history, but probably no future (they may go bankrupt). Because of the history it still has lots of fans, they play in an old stadium whichs capacity is limited for security reason to 15k and usually sold out - they play at the lower end of 3rd division. Funfact on Altona: Someof the first fans who turned FC St. Pauli to what it is today were later frustrated about how "commercial" the club became and selected a new club to suppport - Altona 93. So, if you talk to older fans, you might find some of these Btw, I guess 0,33 describes the size of the beer (small bottle), not the price ;-) Thanks for your videos

The 13 - 15 th December isn't perfect to watch matches in the southwest of Germany, because the bigger clubs with the nicest stadiums in that area will have away matches and the fourth division is in winter break that time. I am not sure if you were joking or you just did not see "je 3,00€" (each 3,00€) on the sign 😅 The "0,33" is for the 0,33 Liter Beer, which is the "standard size" for a beer in Germany. There is also 0,5 Liter which is the second common size for a beer. Which means you can get 0,33 liter of "Bier" (Beer) or "Alster" (mixture of beer and Sprite) or "Alkholfreies" (non-alcoholic beer) for 3 Euros each.

Sheep mow your grass for free.. its actually a brilliant idea Oh, just today 1250 people showed up for the Derby HSC vs Arminia in the 5th Devision at the HSC - Stadium. The average attendance in this league ranges vom 150-600 so.....Not too shabby i think! You gotta cut the HSC stadium some slack i think.. Theyve played 6th division for many years for which this stadium is more than fine and the 4th division stay was just one year during covid without any spectators.. Theyve just got promoted to 5th division again this season.. im sure if they stay longer in this league they will upgrade their ground

I come from Hamburg and like H.S.V = HAMBURGER SV!!. Do you come from England? Is germany football stadium and ultras good?

@@RysFootyParadiseThank you for reply. I was happy. I say done! England has a lot of traditional football clubs, as does Germany. But England's stadium looks incredibly great and is purely original just for football. England football club is unfortunately more quality and stronger than Germany! The reason is that in England football brings in a lot of money! Germany has also gotten a little better. The German national team is really incredibly world class! England too! Germany has built new stadiums for almost all clubs! England stadium is awesome because fan stands very close to the goal and pitch. I don't like Manchester City, ManU better! I love Arsenal logo from 1985! Today Arsenal logo is very bad. old better. I'll get back to you about something, especially football in Germany. Bye

„December 14th“ matchday is actually still TBD with regard to who will play at which time and whether on Saturday or on Sunday (the latter probably the German teams playing Europa League on Thursday 12th, which means Sunday will have Frankfurt away @„RB Leipzig“ and Hoffenheim away @Dortmund - by the way, Hoffenheim have a home game on the 12th, against Steaua Bucuresti).

@@Roberternst72 great minds think alike - I was secretly gonna check out the Hoffenheim Europa league game 😉

@@RysFootyParadise that weekend you got a Heidenheim home game, but that’s a derby, tickets will be hard to obtain… Mainz hosting Bayern probably sold out as soon as tickets are sold… Zweite Bundesliga Darmstadt hosting Kaiserslautern is almost a derby, but definitely a high-risk match… better avoid that one… Karlsruhe hosting Regensburg might be an opportunity to get tickets, because I don’t think any of their supporters are particularly invested in that matchup… might be a bit boring though…
